Morrigan's gaze lingered on Jacques for a second longer, her finger twitching near the trigger of her rifle. Then she stepped back, loosening her stance with a sharp exhale. "We're wasting time," she said, turning toward Siobhàn. "Kazuo's bleeding out. We need to get back to base before this turns into a bigger mess."
Siobhàn didn't lower her shotgun. Her fiery hair fell across her face as she turned her head in disbelief. "And what about him?" She waved in Jacques' direction, as if pointing at a piece of trash someone had left behind. "A lone guy wandering around an empty city? That doesn't scream suspicious to you?"
"We're not interrogating him," Morrigan snapped, brushing past her companion and gesturing at the gurney that floated nearby. "We don't have time for this. Kazuo needs patching up now, not later."
