[As a young cub, you are still inexperienced. Fight and kill 5 monsters of the same rank.]
[time limit: none]
[difficulty: normal]
[rewards: 1 level 1 skill]
[penalty for failure: death]
Oh it's actually quite a good quest! There's no time limit and the reward is a new skill!
As for the penalty being death, it does kind of make sense. The only way for me to actually fail this quest is to die, so I'm not to bothered about it.
I did notice that it said to fight and kill, rather than just kill. I'm guessing that I can't one hit kill them, otherwise it won't count.
Now I have a quest, I quickly finish iff the rest of the stag and head out back towards where I fought the wind wolf. I could look for another pine stag or some other rank 2 monster, but the stag died too easily and I don't know where other rank 2 monsters are.
As I travel back towards the river I manage to kill another 2 iron beaked kiwis. They're only ranked 1 monster so I finished them off quickly, without much trouble. Once I was a bit closer to the river, I decided to stop and take a break.
I checked my stats to see how much MP I had left and noticed I only needed 30 xp to level up. I could basically kill any monster I found and level up! I decided to quickly find a weak monster that I could kill quickly, but I'm going to use the rest of my MP teleporting around before killing it.
I make it to the river, without seeing any wolves and start travelling down stream. I doesn't take me long to find 2 river rats. I have 340 MP at the moment so I can teleport 8 times. So I start teleporting around, and on my eighth teleport I appear behind the river rats and use void claw killing one of them instantly.
The second one quickly pounced towards me to try and avenge its fallen comrade but I catch it in midair between my teeth and kill it using bite.
Since upgrading my agility I'm able to move a lot faster, making the river rats seem like they were moving in slow motion. Before I would have never tried to catch it in mid air, by now it seemed easy, showing me how big of a difference 10 stat points can really make.
[ding!]
[you killed 2 river rats and gained 60 xp]
[ding!]
[title pest control has levelled up to level 2]
[ding!
[level up! you are now level 4!]
Oh I had forgotten all about my title being upgradable! I decide to check to see what's different about it.
"System! Show me the details for the title pest control!"
[pest control II (upgradable)]
[After killing at least 25 rodent type monsters, you have become their sworn enemy. You gain +15% to all stats when facing rodent type monsters]
So the bonus I receive went up by 5%. Not bad at all, and it's still upgradable! I wonder how many times it can be upgraded though? It would be good if I could get the bonus up to 100% but I doubt that it would be possible. I guess only time will tell, I don't plan on going out hunting rats just to find out though. If anything I want to avoid hunting them now that I can hunt better prey.
Having succeeded in levelling up, I start heading back into the forest to try and find a wolf. I search for a little while, not having much luck when I suddenly feel something in the space around me. Ever since space magic levelled up, i've felt connected to the space around me on a larger scale than before. Ive always thought that I could use this to find hidden enemies around me but it's more difficult that I thought it would be plus I never really had a chance to try it out.
Even now I'm not 100% certain that it's an enemy, I just know that there is something occupying the space behind one of the bushes. I carry on walking a bit, concentrating on the space, waiting to see if it moves and it does!
It's definitely some kind of monster stalking me, I'm just not sure what monster it is. Luckily I can only sense one, otherwise I would have already started running. I decide to simply growl towards the bush, letting whatever hiding there know that I know it's there.
If my quest didn't say I had to fight the monsters I properly would have tried a sneak attack, but since I do have to fight them, this is the only way I can think of to make it come out.
Sure enough, it jumps out from behind the bush and glares at me, growling threateningly. It was another wind wolf, exactly what I had been searching for. I looked around a bit, making sure it was actually by its self and it didn't have any friends hiding anywhere and was a little surprised to not find any.
On earth wolves always hunted in packs and it was the same for those idiotic black wolves that attacked me the other night, but that didn't seem like the case with the wind wolves. Last time I only see two of them and this time only a single one, so maybe they live as smaller families rather than in a pack. I'm not to sure though, it's to early to jump to conclusions.
The wolf is still glaring at but it also seems like it's wary of me at the same time. I haven't had a wash in a while so maybe it can smell the previous dead wind wolf scent on me? I'm not to sure but I make a mental note to have a wash in the river later anyways.
I decide to use appraisal to see what level it is, I'm going to fight it even if it is stronger than me but I'm still curious to know.
"Appraisal!"
[level 3 wind wolf]
[rank: 2]
Ohh so its a lower level than me...Maybe that's why it's acting a bit wary of me? It doesn't matter though. As long as it's rank 2, it has no choice but to fight. With that thought in mind, I make the first move and leap towards it and use void claw.
