With the spider still attacking the wall, I struggle to get untangled from the web. I can feel the attacks getting more fierce, the longer I take.
I don't think the spider is going to stop whilst I'm still here, but I'm really finding it hard to get my self untangled.
I've tried using my claws to cut it, but it's not the same web that made the cocoon I was trapped in earlier. It's more like the strange vines I found in the illusion, sticky and really stretchy.
I look back at the hole I just came through, I don't see any crack or anything but the constant vibrations from the spiders attacks are still making me a bit anxious.
After a couple of minutes I manage to get my legs free, I don't worry about the rest of my body just yet, I just get up and start running away.
I wasn't just worried about the spider that was attacking the wall, I was also worried about other monsters finding me whilst I couldn't move but I think they properly avoided this area due to the spider.
Soon I can no longer hear the banging or the spiders attacks, so I slow down my pace and have a look around at where I am.
I'm still in a cave, but there are no longer spider webs all over the place. The tunnel is a lot more narrow here and it feels damp, like there's a lot more moisture in the air. There must be a water source nearby but I can't see or hear any water.
It's still really dark here but I can still see due to my night vision skill, just not very well. I hope that it levels up soon so I will be able to see better but I'll just have to cope for now.
Confirming there are no monsters around I stop and decide to try and get more of the web off of my body. It doesn't go very well, I just end up getting my front paw tangled up again, causing me to spent the next 5 minutes getting it free again.
I decide to just leave it for now and search for a way out of this cave, I can't go back the way I came for obvious reasons, so i have no choice but to explore and look for an exit.
After a while I come across one of the smaller spiders I see earlier. Honestly I'm surprise I hadn't come across any sooner, I ran past a lot of them earlier making me think that this whole cave might just be a huge spiders nest, but after thinking about it for a bit I don't think it is.
If it was there would be spider webs everywhere even in the bit of the cave I'm in now. Plus I didn't see any smaller spiders when I was in the nest of the big spider earlier making me think that they must get their food from somewhere els.
I use appraisal on the spider before attacking, to see if it's actually something I can fight or not.
[lesser dream stalker]
At least appraisal actually worked on this one! Meaning it should be something I can fight.
Its name confuses me a bit, it's called a dream stalker, so does that mean it only attaches dreams? Maybe it has some kind of ability that buts its opponents to sleep. If so then I need to be carful, the last thing I need is to be put to sleep and be unable to defend my self.
It also has lesser in its name, i'm not really sure if that tease that is weaker than a normal dream stalker or if it's just younger. Maybe that big spider I faced earlier was a normal one or even a greater one.
Anyways, now I know that it's something I can face I decide to attack, it hasn't noticed me yet so I have the advantage of a surprise attack.
I summon a shadow directly below its feet to try and slow its movements and fire a shadow ball, aiming for its eyes. Normally I would have just controlled the shadow at its feet to try and blind it but I want to know if it can cancel out my shadow magic like the big one did earlier.
The shadow ball land and I control it to cover all 8 eyes. At least I now know that it can't cancel out my magic.
It starts shaking its body about trying to shake of my shadow whilst shooting webs in random directions, I manage to dodge the webs that came near me as I ran straight at it and used scratch on one of its legs.
[ding!]
[scratch has levelled up to level 3]
My claws go straight through its leg, detaching it from its body. The spider stumbles and lets out a low hissing sound, seemingly unable to clink its fangs together like the big one did.
Before it can regain its footing I've already attacked with scratch again, detaching yet another leg. I don't know if this spider is just weak or if level 3 scratch is strong but this is surprisingly easy. I haven't even had to use my dash skill yet but I feel like even if I hadn't slowed down its movements, it wouldn't be able to keep up with me.
It lets out another hiss as it falls to the ground, not wasting this opening I pounce on it using scratch on the top off its head.
I didn't manage to detach its head from its body and my claws ended up embedded in its face but I still hear the system notification confirming its death.
[ding!]
[you have learned pounce level 1]
[ding!]
{you have killed a lesser dream stalker and gained 100 xp]
100 xp! A moss rat only gave me 30 xp. That's over 3 times the amount! if I keep killing these spiders I should be able to level up in no time!
Not to mention there should be some other kind of monsters here swell, these spiders have to eat something. I wonder what kind of monsters they are and how much xp they will give me.
I also got a new skill. I remember seeing pounce in the skill shop and I do keep pouncing on my opponent's, so I'm not too surprised I got it, but it's still a welcome bonus.
I look at the corpse of the spider and decide to just leave it there. I am feeling a little bit hungry but it has barely any meet on it and I don't like the idea of eating a spider anyways.
