Once I finish eating, I set out to find an opponent to test out my magic on. I head back towards the where the moss rats made their nest. I'm not going to go all the way to the nest, I just hope I can find a couple of moss rats on the way.
It doesn't take me long before I find 2 moss rats heading towards the stream.
I don't even bother hiding, I just start my attack straight away.
I summon a shadow beneath their feet, instantly slowing their movements. I don't go for kill just yet, the whole purpose of this fight is to see how effective my shadow magic is.
I then start manipulating the shadow, make 2 spheres float rise up and attach themselves to the rats faces.
The rats stop trying to run towards me, instead they start shaking the heads wildly, trying to shake off the shadows.
One of them even claws at its own face, causing it to damage its self in the process!
Im pleased with the outcome of my little experiment. Instead of being able to either blind or slow down my opponent, I can now do both, and I can do it to 2 opponents at the same time!
I decide to put the rats out of their misery, and quickly end their lives using bite.

[ you have killed 2 moss rats and gained 60xp]
[ding!]
[you have earned the title pest control (upgradable)]
[after killing at least 10 rodent type monsters, you have become there sworn enemy. You gain +10% to all stats when facing rodent type monsters]
My first title!
I never expected I would get my first title this quickly. I'm even more surprised that the system actually gave me a description.
I'm not complaining but if it can give me a description for a title, then it should be able to give me one for other things.
So i got it for killing at least killing ten moss rats... honestly I feel like I've killed way more than that but I doubt the system is lying to me.
I also notice that is called them monsters. I've been calling them beasts all this time, but I guess they really are monsters.
Does that mean I'm a monster as well?
Na, my species is fox beast cub, it clearly has the word beast in it.
I wonder what the difference between a beast and a monster is then? Could it magic crystal?
I can't say for sure because I don't know if I have one or not. I guess I'll just stop thinking about it for now, it's not like it makes much difference anyways.
But 10% to all stats when facing rodent type monster is a good bonus. I've mainly faced moss rats up till now so the bonus is going to activate quite regularly.
It doesn't add up to much at the moment, but as I get stronger the bonus is going to keep getting bigger.
Even better than that is that it's upgradable!
I wonder how many moss rats I have to kill for it to be upgraded?
I guess there's only one way to find out. I'm going to hunt as many moss rats as I can until it upgrades. As long as I don't go too near their nest I think I should be alright.
I should request a quest. I didn't do it before because I didn't really have any goal in mind, but now I have a clear objective. It would simply be a waste to not try and get more rewards.
I open up the quest window and select request quest.
[ding!]
[quest received...]
[kill 15 moss rats to upgrade your title!]
[01/15]
[time limit: 48 hours]
[difficulty: easy]
[rewards: 10 skill points]
[Penalty for failure: -10 skill points]
Oh it actually told me how many I need! The system is full of surprises today! It even gave me a counter! I'm a bit confused about how I already have 1 out if the 15 but quickly figure out that I must have killed 11 rats already.
I let out a little chuckle when I read that the difficulty was easy, it's true that killing the moss rats is easy for me now but I still need to kill 14 of them. That's more than I've already killed already! And the whole quest is only worth 10 skill points!
I know it's only ranked as easy but 10 skill point for 14 kills is just too little! I can't really complain though, it's still basically free skill points because I was going to hunt the moss rats anyways.
I start walking back in the direction of the nest, I want to try my luck against a group of 3 if I can find one. But i'm not going to get too carried away, i'm going to make sure there are no others around first and I'm going to be ready to use dash and escape should anything go wrong.
I managed to kill 2 more moss rats before finally finding a group of 3. Just like earlier I summon a shadow on the floor slowing down their movements. Using the same shadow I blind 2 of them before using dash to charge towards the third.
It tries swiping its claws at me, but with its movements slowed it barley manages to lift its claw from the ground before I use bite to put an end to its life. Not long after the other 2 meet the same fate.
[ding!]
[you have killed 3 moss rats and gained 90 xp]
I check my mission and see that i'm already on 6 out of 15. Killing the moss rats is really getting too easy, I feel like I would be able to take on 4 at once if I tried but I don't want to push my luck.
They only give me 30 xp and whilst I don't know how much xp I need to actually level up, I feel that by only gaining 30 xp each kill, it's going too take me a long time.
I'm going to have to find a stronger opponent soon, I just hope I can find 1 that isn't too strong.
Whilst I am thinking about these things I suddenly hear the sound of something cutting through the air.
Swoosh!
"Argh! "
I fall on my side as a stone bounces off me...
