Arriving back at the pond, I take a Quick Look around before deciding what bush to sleep in. I crawl underneath the bush and manage to make my self a small little area to lay in. After bending some of the branches in an attempt to cover up the gap I just made, I finally settle down for my fist night in Cronus.
I wake up trying my absolute best not to make any noise. Last night was terrifying! I awoke several time to the sounds of what I think we wolf's howling and to the roars of various beasts. One time I was sure I could hear something drinking from the pond!
I am definitely not safe here!
I don't know if it was just pure luck or just sheer coincidence that I didn't meet anything stronger than the moss rat yesterday, but I should parlay to the heavens for my good fortune.
I lay completely still listening for what feels like, well over an hour before slowly poking my head outside of the bush and look around. I don't see anything around, so I slowly crawl out of the bush.
Perhaps most of the dangerous beasts at nocturnal? Even so I don't want to risk staying here any more. I need to find a safe place, or at least a place where someone at my level can get stronger.
Thinking about it, I should go back up stream. If something at the moss rats level was up there, i should be okay. I start travelling back up stream, thinking about what kind of place I should make my home.
It takes me about half an hour to get back to were I killed the moss rat yesterday but I can't seem to find its carcass. Maybe another beast came along and ate the rest of it. I would understand if only the innards were missing but what type of beast would eat the bones as well?
Trying not to think about it, I carry on heading up stream keeping a careful lookout for any type of beasts.
Oh that's right! I should request at a quest! I had nearly forgotten all about that! Opening the quest window I select request quest.
[would you like to request a quest?]
[yes/no]
Yes!
[quest requested]
[ every fox needs a home! Find a safe place and build your first den.]
[time limit: 10 hours]
[difficulty: easy]
[rewards: 10 skill points]
[penalty for failure: - 10 skill points]
Oh that is exactly what I wanted to do anyways! Maybe the system knew what I wanted and turned it into a quest for me. I'm not to sure though because I had no of killing and hunting my first prey, but I still got a quest to do it. I need to experiment with this a bit further. If the system really does give quests, corresponding to what I want to do then I can use it to my advantage, but if not I'll have to be careful when I request quests.
It says I have to build my first den, honestly I had completely forgot that foxes lived in dens. I was going to try and find another bush or maybe a hollow in a tree or something, but this makes more sense. Fox's on earth used to live in dens too.
I have 10 hours. I'm guessing that's when it starts to get dark so I still have plenty of time. The reward is 10 skill points aswell! It not enough to buy a new skill but It means I'll be able to get one a whole level earlier.
I'm guessing I only get 10 skill points because it's a easy quest. I wonder how many I would get if the difficulty was medium or hard?
There's no point thinking about it now, I just need to make sure I don't fail. I only have 10 skill point and I really don't want to loose them.
Wondering where it would be best to make a den, I carry on travelling upstream. After travelling for around another hour, I suddenly hear a loud screech.
SCREECH!
I turn round to see two moss rats sprinting straight towards me. Without even thinking I start running.
Damn! I could just about kill one last time there's no way I'll be able to fight two of them!
At least I'm a lot faster now, I should be able to get away.
After sprinting for a couple of minutes I start feeling a bit out of breath, I won't be able to keep this up much longer. Looking behind me, I still see the two moss rats hot on my tail. At this rate I'm going to end up dead.
I start wracking my brain, trying to figure a way out of this situation. I try using my shadow magic to blind one of the but it's way to difficult to cast behind me whilst I'm running forwards.
Is there really nothing I can do? There has to be something!
That's right! I have the dash skill don't I! I'm not 100% sure what it does because the system dosnt let me check skills I allready have, but it does sound like a speed skill.
I quickly activate my dash skill and feel my body getting lighter. I can move at least twice as fast as before.
Still following the stream, I carry on sprinting as fast as I can without even looking back. I don't know how long dash lasts, but I want to get as far away from these moss rats as I possibly can.
A few minutes later I finally come to a stop, as I come to a stop I can feel my dash skill deactivate. It can proberly last longer but I'm simple too out of breath to keep running.
I check behind me for any sign of the moss rats but don't see anything. I think I lost them a while ago, but was too preoccupied with running away to notice.
After catching my breath, I take a quick drink from the stream and take a look around. I must have came quite far, there seem to be less trees here and a lot more light is getting threw.
Walking a bit further I come to a small clearing. To the right of the clearing there's a small hill and to the left I can see a group of bushes with some kind of berry on them.
I stand at the edge of the clearing, carefully looking around for any kind of beasts, I place like this is the perfect place to make my den, but if it's the perfect place for me, then it should be the perfect place for other beasts as well.
