Chapter 28 - Event

"This—" the girl tried to say, watching the woman walk ahead. With her keen eyesight, she noticed the woman looking directly at her. She knew she was looking at her because, with her sight, she could see those unique eyes and skin tone just a little bit, and it seemed the eyes were glowing just for half a second. Many don't know, but she knew this is a trait of only a few, but happened a lot in one person.

As if to distract her, the boy, her childhood sweetheart, elbowed her and snapped in a low but serious tone, "Shut up!" Their friends, as if suddenly aware of something was going on, urged them softly, "Hey, come tell us," knowing she shouldn't say anything and that they needed to leave before the event started. Yu Zana replied bashfully, "Ah, I might be wrong." Her best friend playfully knocked her on the head. "Fool!"

Upon entering the building, I admired the elegant simplicity of the interior.

Inside, the atmosphere was not much different from outside. Some small workers, were also star chasers, moved about busily, their energy palpable. Near the entrance at that moment, I noticed two women who seemed to be engaged in their own conversation. They were dressed professionally, their attire indicating they were part of the event's organization. As I approached, I could see that the two began to whisper loudly among themselves, casting furtive glances in my direction.

"Is that…" one of them said, her voice barely above a whisper, but the intent was clear as I pursed my lips behind my mask, determined to keep my head forward and maintain my composure as I walked past them.

"We will see her later. Come, let us finish our tasks before the stars arrive," the other woman replied, her tone slightly more urgent, as if time was of the essence.

"Yeh, we have a little over six hours," the first woman confirmed, glancing at her watch as if to emphasize the point.

"That's right, plus we can watch from the staff area," the second added, her excitement bubbling just beneath the surface.

"Yes, then let us hurry so we can prepare everything in time," the first woman urged, and with that, the two of them walked away quickly, eager to complete their tasks before the event began.

I rolled my eyes behind my shades, feeling a mix of annoyance and amusement at their eagerness.

"Hello, Miss Fe, I will lead you to the specially prepared room that has been arranged for you," a woman greeted me as she appeared suddenly from around the corner, holding a tablet in her arm. I looked down at her small tastefully dressed form, paired with simple but attractive makeup. Her demeanor was extremely professional, which immediately gave me a good feeling about the situation. This event was on an enormous scale, and I couldn't quite understand why my grandmother would go to such lengths to make it such a grand affair, especially since she insisted on my participation on the panel. However, since it was her birthday, I decided to go along with her wishes, unlike in my previous life where I often acted out of wilfulness and wanted to stay home and take care of a husband who at the time had only me in his eyes.

As I sighed, reflecting on how this life seemed to be unfolding more smoothly than my last, I almost forgot that unexpected things could still happen. Right now, I felt as though I was moving forward without a clear sense of direction, almost blind to what lay ahead.

I realized I needed to keep myself updated with the news more frequently, but I would have to wait until after the show to do that.

It is okay anyway.

"Hello, and thank you," I replied politely, maintaining my composure. There was really no need for me to smile, since the mask I was wearing concealed my mouth.

The woman responded with a professional smile of her own, then turned to walk ahead of me. I followed closely behind her petite form, navigating the familiar surroundings. I had been in this studio two times before, so I knew my way around quite well. The first time I visited was right after my first show, which was an exhilarating experience, and the second time was because I had been chosen to be the face of a well-known make-up brand, which was quite an honor. Now, I found myself back in this place, but this time as a VIP guest judge, which added a layer of excitement and responsibility to the occasion.

As the three of us entered a small elevator, I felt a mixture of anticipation and nervousness. We ascended four levels, and once the doors opened, we walked a short distance down a beautifully decorated hallway. The double doors at the end of the corridor were opened, revealing a stunningly well-decorated interior that was both inviting and impressive.

"Miss Fe, you are finally here!" An enthusiastic voice called out immediately as I stepped into the room, filling the air with warmth and excitement. I turned around and was greeted by the sight of the younger woman who had been my make-up artist for what felt like an eternity, a true companion in my journey through the world of glamor and style.

She was dressed to impress in a fashionable outfit that caught my eye; her over-knee boots accentuated her long legs, while the high heels, towering at twenty centimeters, added an extra touch of elegance. Her skirt suit was tailored perfectly, with the skirt reaching well above her mid-thigh, showcasing her long, slim legs in a way that was both stylish and confident.

As I looked at her, a smile spread across my face, reflecting the joy I felt at seeing her again. Wearing a pair of heels myself, I braced for her signature barrel throw and warm hug, a gesture that had become a delightful routine between us.

With her face nestled directly against my chest, I leaned down slightly and gave her a gentle kiss, a token of my affection and appreciation. I truly liked this woman, cherishing her presence to the point of wanting to spoil her with kindness and attention; it's just a pity that I don't have romantic feelings for girls.
