Ava walked towards Oriana, handing over the basket to her. However, before her reached arm could grab it, Ava pulled the basket back. Oriana's jaw immediately dropped, the smile she was wearing on her face melting away like a snowflake in a furnace. Her mind churned, as she tried to comprehend Ava's intentions. But, it wasn't like Ava had changed her mind. She smiled at her, then suggested, "Now that you have secured food for the kids, can you put your mind at ease and eat the food I have prepared?"
Oriana sighed heavily in relief, her hand gently landing on her heart. She thought Ava was going to request something from her. With her resources already stretched thin, Oriana was certain there was nothing she could offer in return. She had sold all her properties, including personal items like jewels, to cater to the needs of the children. Still, that wasn't enough to keep them afloat, prompting their benefactors to jump in and assist.
