Lyle didn't say a word at first. His gaze remained locked on hers, his body still and unreadable despite the closeness between them. The heat of his presence sent a shiver down Eira's spine.
Eira's eyes darted around, finally landing on his chest, realizing just how close they were. Her mind snapped back into focus as she pushed him away hastily, taking a step back to create some much-needed space.
"Sorry," she said quickly, folding her arms over her chest in an attempt to seem composed.
"It's okay," Lyle replied smoothly, slipping his hands into his pockets. "But what were you doing here? Did you want to see me?"
Eira hesitated, trying to sound casual. "I just wanted to check if you were back to normal, and… well, it seems like you are."
