Chapter 11 - Revealing some powers and damn! those monopoly gods

Superman hadn't realized the damage we were causing during our friendly sparring session. It was supposed to be harmless, just two powerhouses testing their limits. But once he saw the destruction we had unintentionally unleashed, his face fell. He felt genuinely guilty for letting his emotions get the better of him, finally having a chance to let loose after being so restrained for so long. He stopped immediately, mid-punch, scanning the wreckage. We shared a look—one that said more than words—and quickly discussed how we could fix the mess we made before parting ways to handle the chaos we had triggered and, more importantly, to protect the innocents.

Superman shot off towards the southern islands in the Atlantic Ocean, where a monstrous 300-foot-tall tsunami was barreling toward the coastlines. Meanwhile, Whisper and Martian Manhunter flew toward Blüdhaven, where falling debris from destroyed buildings was about to crush anyone unlucky enough to be in its path. Their task: to prevent further disaster. My focus, however, was on the EF-4 tornado, spinning furiously at 180 mph and heading straight toward both Blüdhaven and Gotham. If that tornado touched down, it would obliterate everything in its path—buildings, homes, and, worst of all, lives. The devastation would be immeasurable.

As I approached the tornado, something strange began to happen. I felt a deep, profound connection to the Earth itself. I could feel everything—the sprouting of plants breaking through the soil, the shifting of clouds as they formed, the intricate dance of hot and cold air currents colliding to create weather patterns. I even sensed the slow, almost imperceptible movement of tectonic plates beneath the Earth's surface. It was as if all the secrets of the planet were laid bare before me. And not just Earth—my awareness expanded. I felt a slight connection to the solar system. It was intoxicating, this flood of knowledge. I knew it was only a glimpse of what was out there, and it left me craving more.

It wasn't just knowledge, though. I could feel the raw power pulsing through me, the ability to alter everything around me. The falling debris across the cities, the chaos in the air, even the massive 300-foot wave hurtling toward the southern islands—I could sense them all in vivid detail, like they were extensions of my own body. And if I wanted to, I knew I could change them with just a thought. I had the power to reshape anything and anyone, to bend reality itself to my will.

What should have been overwhelming, this incredible surge of control, instead felt natural—like breathing. It was as though I had always known I could do these things. I didn't question it, didn't hesitate; I simply accepted the power as part of who I was. Yet, despite the magnitude of this realization, I sensed that I had only scratched the surface. There was still so much more to discover, so much more potential within me waiting to be unlocked. And that realization sent a thrill through me, a sense of excitement mixed with curiosity, knowing that my journey was just beginning.

When I finally arrived at the tornado's location, I didn't waste any time. I tapped into my creation divinity, channeling my power of reality manipulation. With a mere thought, the tornado vanished, as though it had never existed. The sky cleared, calm and untroubled. Not stopping there, I used my powers to restore the partially destroyed infrastructure in the nearby cities. Buildings and automobiles that had been reduced to rubble reformed, their shattered pieces flying back together. Roads that had been torn apart smoothed over, whole once more. In an instant, everything was back to how it was before the chaos began.

From their positions in Blüdhaven, Whisper and Martian Manhunter were stunned. The city, once chaotic and on the verge of collapse, now appeared untouched—restored to its original state in the blink of an eye. The look on their faces said it all: disbelief.

Martian Manhunter began scanning the area, clearly searching for some other hero or being who might have intervened. His eyes widened when he spotted me descending from the sky, landing gracefully beside him with a broad grin on my face.

"Don't worry," I said, still smiling. "I'm the one who put everything back to normal."

His expression told me everything I needed to know—shock, confusion, and maybe even a little awe. He hadn't expected this from me, someone he likely saw as another Superman, someone powerful but limited to physical strength, not the wielder of such overwhelming magical abilities. His face betrayed his thoughts: How could someone who looks like Superman do something so… impossible?

Before he could voice his astonishment, Superman himself arrived, soaring through the sky and landing near us with his usual grace. His suit was soaked, and water droplets clung to his hair, but the smile on his face showed he was in good spirits.

"So," I called out to him, "did everything go smoothly on your end?"

He chuckled, brushing the water off his shoulders. "Yep! Used my freeze breath to solidify the wave, then my heat vision to melt it down. It created a huge mist cloud, but the water settled back to normal right after." He gave me a playful grin. "I'm just glad I didn't make it worse."

We exchanged knowing smiles, a silent acknowledgment that the immediate danger had passed. The tension in the air eased, and relief began to settle in. Yet, even as the calm washed over me, a persistent thought nagged at the back of my mind—a subtle but unmistakable sense that I had only just begun to tap into my true potential. It was unsettling, as though a vast, untapped power simmered just beneath the surface, waiting to be unleashed. Despite the immense abilities I now wielded, it still didn't feel like enough. Growing up reading comics, I knew all too well about the existence of powerful, malevolent forces—beings capable of wiping me out with a mere thought. That knowledge gnawed at me, reminding me of the steep path that lay ahead.

But before I could dwell on the growing changes within me—my heightened senses, the shifts in my thinking, the strange new control over my body—I was interrupted. A familiar chime echoed in my mind, signaling a notification from the system. My instincts sharpened, bracing for whatever revelation was about to come through.

Ding!

{Kyn, listen carefully. You mustn't provide the Justice League with any details about your powers—not yet. They'll grow far too curious, start asking questions you won't want to answer. Keep things vague, like you didn't even realize what you did. Let them think it was a fluke.

Remember, in this world, most beings draw on magic or reality-warping abilities by tapping into the goddess Hecate's domain. Their powers are connected to her, to the Upside-Down Man from the negative multiverse—every spell, every reality shift is linked to that dark magic. And when they use it, magic circles and symbols always form, clear signs of the forces they're borrowing. But your abilities? They're different. There's no circle, no symbol, no trace of anything familiar.

Your power doesn't come from a source they understand. It's yours, not borrowed from some ancient deity or realm. That's why you have to be cautious—keep it concealed, for now. If they knew what you could do, if they even suspected the scope of your abilities, the questions would never stop. You'd be under constant scrutiny, and that's a risk you can't afford.

One last thing—accept their invitation. There's more to it than just joining the Teen Titans. This isn't just about you, Kyn—it's about Cassandra, too. She's been isolated, with no real connections to people her age, other than you. And right now, the government, a certain dark knight, and even a very powerful alien force is watching you both closely, without you even sensing it. They're spying on you, calculating their next move.

They won't stop. They'll keep watching, their eyes always on you, waiting for a misstep. And if you don't play this right, they could decide you're a threat. The dark side of the government doesn't hesitate when it comes to dealing with perceived dangers. If they brand you or Cassandra as illegal vigilantes, they won't hesitate to act swiftly and without mercy. .

The Titans can shield your secrets, keeping prying eyes at bay until you're strong enough to stand tall, revealing your full potential without fearing the consequences. You can also gather information on what powerful alien force is keeping an eye on you. But tread carefully and handle it wisely.}

The system's warning rang clear in my mind, solidifying my decision. My concern for Cass weighed heavily on me—this wasn't just about me anymore. I couldn't afford to be selfish or disregard her feelings. Her trust in me meant everything, and I knew what I had to do. So, with a calm but resolute tone, I spoke up.

"This day has been... exciting, to say the least," I began, letting a hint of humor lighten the seriousness of the moment. "Not just for me, but for Cass as well. Somehow, I even tapped into magical powers I didn't know I had." I glanced at Superman, my expression turning sincere. "Sparring with you was incredible. Seeing your martial arts up close—I'd love to learn from you, if you'd be willing to teach me."

I motioned toward Whisper, saying, "My name is Kyn, and her name's Cassandra." I let the words settle, locking eyes with Superman and Martian Manhunter. There was a brief pause, enough to make sure my presence and seriousness sunk in.

"We'll accept your invitation," I continued, "but understand this: it's temporary." My voice sharpened slightly. "Don't mistake our youth for weakness. That's my one condition—promise me you won't underestimate us just because we're young." I glanced between them, letting the memory of our spar ring fresh in their minds. "You saw what I'm capable of. We even fought, and that should tell you how strong I am. Cass—she's a bit behind me in terms of raw power, but believe me, she's not far off. She's strong too."

I made sure they understood what was at stake, then added, "Once we meet the conditions to join the League, you'll accept us as equals. No hesitation. It's a package deal. Agreed?" I let the weight of my challenge linger in the air, daring them to push back.

Martian Manhunter, as serious as ever, glanced at Superman before speaking. His usual stoic expression softened just slightly, accompanied by a hint of a smile. "That's great news," he said in his deep, steady voice. "Welcome, Kyn and Cassandra, to the Justice League. You'll receive an invitation from the Teen Titans in the next few days. They're currently on a mission, but don't worry—you'll still be allowed to protect your city most of the time. However, when the team needs you and Cassandra, you'll be required to gather at the designated location. You'll also be provided with rooms at their headquarters if you choose to stay there."

He shifted his focus back to me, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "Now, Kyn, your magical abilities are exceptionally strong. It's been a long time since anyone has surprised me as you did today. Not just with your magic, but how you managed to dominate Superman. I watched closely—your expressions, your movements—and it was clear that Superman wasn't able to push you to your limit. Not even close."

His words hung in the air for a moment, and I could see he was genuinely impressed, even cautious. "I fully understand your value to the League. We promise to do everything possible to make both of you members as soon as we can. But, as you know, we're only two members. We'll need to inform the rest of the League what happened today, so they're on the same page as us in bringing you both into the fold."

He paused, his tone serious again, but there was a respectful note in his voice. "Is that acceptable, Kyn?"

The weight of his words settled in. This wasn't just an offer; it was a commitment—a promise backed by the League's trust.

I smiled as Martian Manhunter finished speaking, his words settling in my mind like a weight lifting from my shoulders. His promise—and Superman's—was exactly what I had hoped for. Out of everyone, I knew their word was ironclad. They wouldn't go back on it. So, with gratitude swelling in my chest, I said, "Yes, it's very acceptable. Thank you for your promise. I'm assured that you'll keep it."

At that moment, I heard Superman laugh, his voice booming with genuine enthusiasm. "Hahaha, that's great!" he said, still chuckling. "Finally, I have someone I can spar with without holding back—not even a little! It's been so hard finding someone who can handle my learned martial arts. The robots in my fortress always end up destroyed!"

He then paused as if remembering something important. "Ah, yes! Kyn, my name's Clark Kent," he said, smiling wider, "and this here is J'onn J'onzz. Just call him J'onn." Superman's tone was light, but his words carried the weight of something more—a sense of camaraderie, of true welcome.

With a grin, he continued, "I officially welcome you to the team. I'll contact Batman so he can provide you both with the technology to communicate with the Teen Titans. They'll reach out to you soon to designate a time for you to meet at their headquarters."

Hearing Clark's laughter and feeling the warmth of his welcome, the tension from earlier seemed to evaporate, replaced by a sense of belonging. Cass and I watched as Superman and Martian Manhunter hovered briefly in the sky, waving at us with smiles before flying off at high speed. I could still track them as they disappeared into the horizon, but I shifted my attention to the person next to me, the one who mattered most right now.

Cass was already looking at me, her expression calm and curious. "Come on, Cass, let's go eat there," I said, pointing to the cozy Italian restaurant across the street. She followed my gaze and, upon spotting the place, smiled and said, "Okay, Kyn."

It was getting late, and I didn't want any unwanted attention. I placed a hand gently on Cass's left shoulder and activated my invisibility power, cloaking us from sight. Once hidden, I shifted my appearance, changing into casual street clothes. Then, using my shape-shifting ability, I reduced my height back to its pre-awakening state of around 6 ft 1 in. My hair morphed to a sleek black, erasing any trace of my enhanced form.

Cass, who had been watching the entire transformation, was visibly surprised. Her eyes widened, and she covered her open mouth with her hand, staring at me in awe. I chuckled at her reaction. "My new power," I said with a grin. "Do you like it?"

Cass blinked a few times, then quickly collected herself, giving me a smile and a thumb-up. She understood immediately. With my height and hair altered, along with the lack of a mask and cap, I had fully hidden my secret identity. It would now be almost impossible for anyone to recognize me.

Cass, ever the quick thinker, willed her own suit to shift into casual clothes. In an instant, her suit transformed into a beautiful dress she'd admired at a teen clothing store not too long ago. It looked perfect on her.

"You look beautiful," I told her sincerely, watching as she blushed, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink. She hadn't expected the compliment, but I could tell she liked it. Her shy smile confirmed it.

As we walked toward the restaurant, invisible to the world but completely present with each other, I couldn't help but feel a quiet satisfaction. For now, we were safe, and we had a moment of normalcy—something I was beginning to realize was far more precious than I ever imagined.

After enjoying a delicious meal at the restaurant, Cass and I finally arrived home, feeling pleasantly full. We decided to unwind with a movie night, so I headed out to rent some films from Blockbuster, a place where I had become a proud member. As I browsed the shelves, I was taken aback by a surprising realization: many of the movies that had been staples of my previous world were missing from this one. Iconic Japanese animes like Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, and countless others seemed to have vanished into thin air. It was a curious thought, one that made me reflect on how different this universe truly was.

However, I noticed that Disney still held a prominent place in the hearts of people across any world. Its animated classics and magical tales continued to captivate audiences. Yet, when it came to superhero comics, things took an unexpected turn. In this universe, there was no DC Comics as I knew it; instead, we had the familiar faces of heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, and others. Their adventures were chronicled in the pages of stories crafted by a comic book company called Action Comics.

What struck me most was that these heroes, despite their legendary status, were featured in comics filled with made-up escapades rather than the rich, intertwined narratives that existed in my former world. While DC characters were beloved, it seemed that Action Comics had gained a substantial following, and their tales of heroism were much more popular here. The stories told by this company were vibrant and exciting, each one shining a light on the bravery of these superheroes.

Interestingly, Batman played a significant role in protecting the identities and trademarks of his fellow heroes. Through the formation of the Justice League, he ensured that their names were shielded from unauthorized use. If any entertainment company—be it Action Comics or Universal—wished to utilize the names and likenesses of these heroes, they needed to seek permission from the Justice League. Moreover, a portion of the profits generated from these approved movies would flow back to the League, providing essential funds to maintain their operations and even offering some form of salaries to the heroes. It was a fascinating arrangement, one that spoke to the mutual respect and collaboration among these powerful figures.

As I contemplated this new world, I couldn't help but feel excited about the potential adventures that lay ahead, both on-screen and in reality. With Cass by my side, it was sure to be a memorable night.

While watching the Disney movie Lilo & Stitch, I couldn't help but feel a surge of curiosity about my new Almighty Mind ability. It was as if my mind had no limits; I could intuitively predict the plot of any movie I watched, understanding not only the storyline but also its intricate details. Once I experienced something, the complete information flooded my consciousness. I could instantly recall everything about the film, from when it first aired to the names of the voice actors and directors, and even the duration of the production process.

I found myself absorbing a wealth of information about the creative minds behind the story, including what inspired them to bring their vision to life. The sheer volume of data was astonishing—so much that anyone else might experience an overwhelming headache trying to grasp it all at once. Yet for me, it felt as though I had conducted thorough research, bolstered by a true photographic memory. I remembered everything, from the inception of the idea to the critics' reviews and everything in between.

It was a bit bothersome, though; all I wanted was to enjoy the movie without being bombarded by an avalanche of facts. So, I decided to will myself to store this information away until I was ready to use it. After doing so, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I regained control over my thoughts, allowing myself the freedom to choose what to remember and when. It was a surreal experience, and one I had never encountered in my past life, where my memory had always been mediocre at best. This newfound capability was exhilarating, a glimpse into a world of possibilities.

With that thought in mind, I turned to the system and asked, "System, please tell me about the Almighty Mind ability. How much better is it than the Godly Mind I had before?" Just as I finished my question, I heard the familiar chime of the system responding.

Ding!

{Kyn, the Godly Mind is a protective barrier most gods possess, preventing their thoughts from being manipulated, heard or controlled by another being. This is why many divine entities are willing to fight to the death when disagreements arise. However, the Almighty Mind transcends this level of protection. Consider the Godly Mind as a mortal, and the Almighty Mind as the deity that mortal worships—a distinction that can be difficult to fathom. The Almighty Mind wields supreme dominion over reality, functioning like a boundless, omnipotent being solely through the sheer force of thought.

Their mental prowess allows for unlimited control over all psionic abilities, commanding and manipulating the very fabric of existence with an unshakeable will. They are unconquerable, indestructible, and unkillable. Even if their physical body is destroyed, they can recreate it with just a thought, instantly and effortlessly. Their mind is an impenetrable fortress, immune to any psychic assault or intrusion, regardless of the source.

With the power to shape reality through sheer thought and the knowledge of all that exists, they ascend to true godhood through the strength of their mind—becoming untouchable by any force, omnipotent and omniscient, period. However, this power is currently tied to your creation divinity and mimicry ability, limiting you to planetary-level reality manipulation. It's formidable, but not yet enough to challenge universal or higher-level beings, at least when relying on this power alone. }

As I absorbed the information, I marveled at the profound implications of my new ability. The prospect of wielding such power was both exhilarating and daunting. What adventures lay ahead, armed with the Almighty Mind? I couldn't wait to find out.

As we watched the end of several movies together, I felt a profound connection with Cass. It was a bond so strong that I instinctively willed myself to understand its origin. However, as soon as I caught a glimpse of what might have been, I quickly pulled back, deciding against prying into that part of my life. Some mysteries were better left unsolved, at least for now.

After finishing the movies, we decided to shift gears and play some board games, knowing it wasn't too late to enjoy a bit more fun. We pulled out Monopoly, a classic favorite. Cass seemed to revel in the game, while I quickly found myself in over my head. I became indebted to both her and the bank, and I couldn't shake the feeling that the Monopoly gods had it out for me.

No matter how well I started off—winning initial rounds and snatching up hotels and prime properties—my luck seemed to vanish as if a dark cloud had settled over me. Each time I felt confident, fate would intervene, and I'd end up in jail. Cass, on the other hand, was a natural-born tycoon. She deftly maneuvered her way through the game, accumulating wealth as I spiraled deeper into debt.

With every turn, my pile of bills grew, and I watched helplessly as my empire crumbled before my eyes. It was infuriating yet strangely amusing. The game might have turned into a ruthless battle of finances, but the laughter we shared made it all worthwhile. Even as I found myself facing bankruptcy, I couldn't help but enjoy the moments we spent together, laughing at my misfortunes and cheering her on as she became the ultimate Monopoly champion.

In that playful rivalry, I realized that winning wasn't everything. The joy of playing with Cass, feeling her energy and enthusiasm, was more rewarding than any victory. Perhaps next time, I'd get a lucky break—if I could just figure out how to appease the Monopoly gods! After having fun with Cass, we decide to take a rest as I see the happy expression of Cass when she hugs me and says Goodnight to me, I genuinely am happy that she is feeling better and has opened up a lot in these past couple of days but because of my super memory I can't forget what I briefly saw, the scene so lifelike and vivid really surprises me until I fall to sleep while thinking about it.
