Chapter 3 - Getting the 2nd Mimicry and a Huge! power up

The thought of taking out the garbage wasn't exactly thrilling, but it was necessary. Before heading downstairs, Kyn paused and decided to check his status. "System Panel," he said aloud, feeling a slight sense of anticipation

Satisfied but anxious to unlock more, Kyn closed the panel. Pulling on a cap and face mask, he grabbed a small mountain of garbage bags—each one filled with at least 30 gallons of trash. The weight meant nothing to him now, as light as feathers in his grip. He headed for the elevator, knowing that carrying all this down the stairs would've been awkward, even for him.

After dumping the bags at the designated dumpster, he paused. Blüdhaven was no Gotham, but it wasn't far behind in its depravity. As he looked around, it dawned on him how truly awful things were here. His enhanced senses picked up the dark underbelly of the city—the corruption festering behind every corner, the violence brewing in the streets, the rotting stench of decay that pervaded the air. This place was worse than he thought.

But before he could get lost in the city's misery, something caught his eye. A girl—young, no older than 14 or 15—was fighting off five grown men. Not just fighting them—beating them senseless. Each punch landed with precision and power, the gangsters crumbling under her fists as she brought them to within an inch of their lives.

Kyn's eyes narrowed as he focused on her. She's not just some ordinary kid... Something about her was familiar, tugging at the edge of his memory. And then, as he zoomed in on the name on her backpack, it clicked.

Cassandra Cain.

Kyn's heart raced as he watched her—this wasn't how he remembered things playing out in the comics. She wasn't Batgirl yet, and it gnawed at him that someone like her, with her talents and brutal upbringing, was stuck in a place like Blüdhaven. Her movements were a mix of grace and violence, like a dancer turned warrior. And then, to his surprise, he saw her take money from the unconscious thugs.

What the hell? He wasn't expecting that from her. After pocketing their money with a satisfied smile, she bolted out of sight, and he instinctively followed, unable to shake his concern.

She led him to an abandoned building a few blocks from his apartment. The way she leaped over the privacy fence with ease told him she was far from ordinary. Inside, it was clear this was her hideout, a shelter among the homeless. His heart sank as he realized she was living like this—someone so talented, so damaged by her father's cruel experiments, reduced to surviving in such a harsh environment.

He wanted to do something, to offer her a safe place, but he knew it wasn't that simple. Tonight was too late. Plus, if memory served, she couldn't speak or understand human language yet. But she had mastered body language, and that gave him an idea. Tomorrow, if she was still here, he'd try to invite her to stay in his apartment. Maybe, just maybe, he could give her a little peace.

Using my super speed, I zipped back home, the wind brushing past me like whispers in the night. I didn't look back, my mind preoccupied with thoughts of how I could help her tomorrow.

But something I missed happened just after I left. Cassandra, the girl I had been watching, turned toward where I had been standing moments before. A small, almost knowing smile crept across her face, like she had sensed me the entire time. She didn't linger, though. Instead, she turned back to her worn-out backpack, pulling out a tattered sleeping bag. After nibbling on some snacks, she had stored away, she curled up, lying down in the cold, abandoned building, and drifted off to sleep.

It stung a little, knowing she had to live like that. Tomorrow, I'd make sure she didn't have to.

Waking up three hours later, fully rested, I decided today was the day. I couldn't sit idle anymore. My Mimicry ability was only at 20%, and that just wasn't going to cut it. Sure, I had immense potential, absorbing solar energy faster than even Superman, but that alone wouldn't solve my problem.

I could already sense the sun's power coursing through me, and with a mere thought, I could draw in solar energy faster than anyone else. But I knew better.

The smart move was to expand my abilities, and that meant finding someone worth mimicking. Someone with the skills, experience, and raw talent that could complement what I already had.

And I knew just the person.

Richard Drakunovski—better known as Richard Dragon. The strongest martial artist alive, with skills, talent, and mastery I could only dream of. Since I never trained in martial arts, only surviving street fights, learning from Richard would give me the edge I needed. I recalled that he had a martial arts school in NYC. If I wasn't wrong, it was located in Manhattan, near Central Park. So, I focused, listening, until I pinpointed him opening his school—right next to him, Ben Turner, his friend and fellow master.

"Perfect," I muttered to myself. That was on the east side, near Central Park. I could make it there in minutes if I ran... or a few seconds if I flew. Either way, Richard Dragon was going to be the key to my growth. Without wasting more time, I shot out the door, speeding down roads and across bridges until I reached his school.

The school was quiet, maybe because it was still early. As I walked in, I spotted both men in their martial arts attire, prepping for the day. Without hesitation, I approached and greeted them, "Hello, my name is Kyn. I'm new to the area, so sorry if I disturbed your training, but I'm curious about this school. Can you tell me what you teach?"

Richard walked up to me, extending his hand for a handshake. I reached out to meet it. Ding!

{System has registered Richard Drakunovski (Dragon) as your second mimic. Temporarily locked since you're not ready to receive martial arts memories, talents, and skills. Please say, 'System, unlock mimicry,' when you're ready.}

"Nice to meet you, Kyn," Richard said, his handshake firm but welcoming. "And this is Ben," he gestured to the man beside him. "We teach a wide range of martial arts here. Looking at your physique, it's clear you've taken fitness seriously, but you haven't trained in any formal martial arts."

I nodded, trying not to look too obvious.

"How about this," Richard continued, "Come back at 3 this afternoon. We'll be teaching a beginner's class, and you can see if the school's a good fit for you. What do you think?"

I smiled, nodding politely. "I'll try to come by, but I'm not sure yet."

Richard nodded in understanding and handed me his business card. "No worries, call me if you can't make it. We'll figure out another time."

I thanked him for his time and quickly left the school. As soon as I was sure no one was watching, I activated my super speed, racing back to Blüdhaven in seconds. Once home, I dropped onto the floor, feeling the weight of what I had just done. Without hesitation, I whispered, "System, unlock mimicry."

{Request confirmed. Unlocking Mimicry for Richard Dragon in 3… 2… 1…}

The flood of memories and knowledge hit me like a freight train—twenty years of martial arts mastery, techniques, styles, and forms, all pouring into my mind at once. It wasn't just mental; my body shifted, adapting to the muscle memory being imprinted. Every movement, every stance, felt natural, as if I'd spent years honing them. Fighting became instinctive, but that was only the beginning.

Richard's martial genius, his talent for mastering and improving any fighting style, now pulsed through me. All I needed to do was observe someone in combat, and I'd instantly learn and adapt. My mind and body were in perfect harmony, evolving together into something more than just skilled—I was becoming a martial prodigy.

But the changes went deeper. My powers surged, reaching new heights. Control flowed through me like never before. I could harness every bit of solar energy, stabilize new abilities, and control them as if I'd spent a lifetime mastering them. It felt like I'd been born with these powers and had spent decades refining them. In seconds, I had complete command.

Then there was my newfound ability to predict movements. It was eerie, almost like seeing the future, but it wasn't. By analyzing blood flow, muscle expansion, and using my X-ray vision, I could read a person's body down to the smallest detail, in mere nanoseconds. I could tell where their next move would strike, where they'd put their weight, and respond before they even realized it.

I knew where to strike to disable, incapacitate, or even kill. The thought of killing twisted something inside me, making my stomach churn. It's something I hoped I'd never have to do—unless the target was some monster or alien threat. For humans or anything humanoid, I'd do everything in my power to incapacitate and imprison them in the phantom zone.

But now, with these abilities, I felt more confident than ever. The fear of death still lingered, though, gnawing at the back of my mind. To counter that, I already knew who my next Mimicry target would be: the ultimate survivor, the Main Man himself. Lobo—the Czarnian who simply cannot die. With his immortality and regeneration that outpaces even Deadpool, I'd become impossible to kill. But before this I need to check to see how much I've improved.

Then I say "System Panel" then I hear the

As I stood there, marveling at the incredible leap in my abilities, I couldn't help but feel exhilarated. The surge of strength and the mastery of countless martial arts styles filled me with confidence. It was as if I had trained for decades, and now I knew each technique like the back of my hand. The thought crossed my mind: I could actually be a superhero now. Full control, full capability—I could handle any situation that came my way.

While still looking at the system's display panel, a thought struck me. I hadn't fully explored all the abilities it mentioned. "System, can you explain what Godly Healing and Godly Mind actually do? I've never heard of those before," I asked, curiosity growing as I tried to make sense of all this new power.

Ding!

{Kyn, Godly Healing allows your healing speed to increase significantly. Normal Kryptonians possess accelerated healing that improves with sunlight exposure. However, Rao's Godly Physique enables you to heal regardless of where you are. Additionally, should you lose a body part, Godly Healing will regenerate it within minutes. As for Godly Mind, it protects your thoughts from being read or controlled—permanently—unless you allow it. If a being attempts to invade your mind, you will sense it immediately. You may choose to send a weak spiritual shock to warn them to cease their intrusion.}

I was pleasantly surprised by the explanation. Knowing that I could recover from almost any injury—and even regrow lost limbs in minutes—was incredibly reassuring. However, despite all this power, it still wasn't on the level of Lobo's immortality and regeneration. That Czarnian could survive things that would obliterate most beings. I'd have to work up to that level eventually.

Then, another realization hit me. If I wanted to find Lobo, I would need to join the League, where I'd have access to interstellar information and possibly even encounter the Czarnian. But there was one problem... I didn't have a costume. A superhero without a costume? That's just a guy with powers.

I looked around my apartment, trying to figure out what I could do. That's when it clicked: after my second mimicry, two more abilities had unlocked—flight and, wait for it, True Creation Divinity. It was still at level one, but the potential was there. If I could harness it, I might be able to create a costume that matched my growing power. The only thing left was to practice controlling it.

Deciding to play it safe, I headed to the most secure spot in my apartment—the bathroom. No windows, no distractions. If I messed up, at least the damage would be contained.

I closed the door, my heart pounding with anticipation. Could I really create a suit? Something that not only looked good but could withstand the crazy stuff I'd face as a superhero? I took a deep breath, focused on the idea of creating, and let my divinity flow. Time to find out.
