The class started and he was asleep. His teacher sighed and shook his head. Though he let Renji rest for now, some of his classmates were again making bad comments on him. In which he did not heard as he was fast asleep.
"Sir, we should wake Renji up. A slacker like him should not be forgiven of his shameless behavior." Said their classmates that was against him. Their teacher that was still thinking what to do asked May. "May, you are the basketball coach yes? He played basketball before the start of the class yes?"
May stood up and then defended. "Yes sir! He suffered greatly of great humiliation sir!" May remarked. All the students laughed. Making a more renounced defeat on Renji's part.
"But that was not all, he was suffering from over fatigue and his muscles were trembling when he played. I know you are all laughing at him but that was just him on his 10 percent. He was not in his best condition and could not even lift a spoon if you will imagine it." She said and the students murmured.
Aizawa stood up and said, "We must let him rest for now. He might be tired enough to fell asleep even with there's a teacher."
"Okay, let him rest. I know what you mean and I am a PE teacher. He should not play basketball in such condition in the first place." Their teacher said.
The students murmured and protested. How such behavior be forgiven? And on the first day of school at that. "I will forgive him this time but there will be no more next time." He said then opened his book.
The class proceeded and afternoon arrived. May looked at his face that was asleep. He might be not good looking but she was staring at his face for a good ten seconds.
"Hey, Renji wake up. The class has ended." She said as he shook his shoulders. She sighed then turned to leave. But Renji's hands grabbed her wrist.
"Don't leave," Renji muttered. Still dreaming and still has to wake up.
May pouted and looked again, "Is he dreaming?" She sighed and then grabbed his hands. Removing from his grip.
Time passed and she left. Renji on the contrary woke up several minutes later.
He opened his eyes and then saw the clock, ticking and was reverberating in it's repetitive clicks. It was on 5 pm. Making him the only one on the room.
Renji perplexed and stood up. "The tryouts!" He muttered.
He immediately ran and exited the room. Xin was outside the room building, on the field where Renji could see him and having a baseball ball on his hands and threw it to the batter.
"So he is a baseball player huh. Good!" Renji muttered.
He immediately ran and went towards the baseball field towards them. Xin throws the ball in speed and accuracy. Renji was impressed.
"Hey! You will go with me!" Renji grabbed him on the wrist and then ran. Pulling Xin on the hands.
"Why? I still have to play discuss throw!" Xin protested.
"Discuss throw? Hmm better! Let's play basketball as you promised!" Renji said to him.
"What!? But I can't dribble!" Xin protested.
"Just pass the ball like baseball or discuss throw!" Renji shouted.
"What!? How does that relate?" Xin was still dumbstruck.
"Just trust me! Let's go to the basketball gym!" Renji said to him.
They went to the Basketball gym and Xin was still on his baseball uniform. They entered the dressing room and changed to basketball uniform. Renji has a spare so he lend Xin with his uniform.
Let's go! Renji shouted at him. Xin on the contrary was confused on the turn or events. He did not know why he has to be in the basketball tryouts. But because of Renji, he has to. As his promise was to play basketball.
They went to the basketball gym and saw the numerous players that dreamt of being a first string or first 5 of the basketball team themselves. The numerous players sparked the excitement of Renji's heart. At last, he could finally be a player. But as he watched the players. He saw familiar faces.
Jin, Kishi, Shin, and Aizawa were there. "The morons are all here? Ah yeah, Kevin was also here," he said as he saw them all. To his surprise. He almost shouted. "Hey! Why you are all here?" The 4 of them all watched him and they were shocked too. To think that they would meet here was unexpected. It would be a good thing to know as he would be playing with acquaintances. They all ran towards him and grabbed his head and messed it up. Gripping him on the shoulders and then laughed.
"Yes, I said we will meet again right?" Kishi said to him.
"Ugh, I just remembered." Renji said then they fist bumped. All of them. They soon saw Kevin and the second years of the school. They were the team that went to the finals of Summer cup last year. But with the 5 Prodigies included into the fray, this will be an all out brawl.
Renji was calm and relaxed. But Xin was trembling and wanted to exit the gym. He could feel the pressure with all the seasoned players here. He was the only one without experience in basketball. Renji then introduced him to the team.
"Hey guys, this is my new friend Xin and my shadow. He could do good passes and assists." Renji said boldly. Making Xin to pass out with all his remarks.
He immediately made Xin to wake up and then told him. "Hey, I know you are good at passes as you are a player in high school. Don't hide it to me. But you messes up in dribbles. Just pass and initiate points. Don't worry about the mistakes, I will take responsibility with every fault you make. Okay?" Renji said to him.
Xin then went silent and he has tears welling from his eyes. He immediately said, "Thank you, I can play basketball again because of you." Then wiped his tears and stood up. "Just watch me, I will make the best passes for you and this team."
