Linus stood at third base, still catching his breath from the sprint that earned him a triple. A system notification suddenly flashed across his vision:

He blinked in surprise, almost forgetting he was in the middle of a game. It had been ages since he'd seen a hidden mission notification, not since that scrimmage before school started. Curiosity tugged at him to open his status screen, but with Viktor stepping up to bat, he shook his head and focused on the field.
With two outs, Linus knew he represented a valuable chance to score. But Viktor needed a hit for that to happen. Linus stole a glance at the pitcher, wondering if having a runner on third would throw off his rhythm just enough to give Viktor a shot.
