Chapter 5 - First Start

Will Chamberlain High School!

It was one of the most prestigious high schools in the country. The kind of school that only those with millionaire parents or those that were lucky enough to earn a scholarship could go to.

Omari was a mix of both. His parents were more than capable of paying his bills. They owned a large multimillion corporation which fetched them a lot of money annually.

The school he offered full coverage of Omari's school fees as a way to bait him over. It was only when his parents accepted the admission without his consent that he realized that being rich didn't make one any less greedy.

He looked at the magnificent structure in front of him. The house of his depression during his past life.

The structure of the school did well to it's reputation, it was very grand when compared to the other buildings around it, about four stories tall. It consisted of slender, white walls which were sheltered by a bright red colored roof.

There was a huge gate at the front, with the words 'Will Chamberlain High School' written in bold letters.

Omari sighed then walked inside the school. The hallway was nothing special. Classroom doors filling each sides, students loitering about, a few janitors in between.

Standing a distance away from him, Omari could spot Ayanfe waving at him. It was nearly impossible for him to miss his dark skin and dry hair amidst the sea of people that flocked around him.

"Hey Omari". Ayanfe waved.

Omari smiled and walked towards him. He raised his hand slightly and waved back at him. "Hey man, how've you been".

"I've been alright, you?" Ayanfe answered.

Omari nodded in response and walked towards their first class. They were roughly the same age so they ended up being in the same class.

The first class that they had was geography. He and Ayanfe sat themselves at the far end of the class. For Omari, it was to avoid the attention of the teachers while Ayanfe was just doing whatever Omari was doing.

"Alright everyone". The teacher walked into the classroom. "Settle down".

The classroom that had been raging with activity fell silent after the teacher's declaration of presence. The middle aged man walked over to the front of the board and wrote his name in big bold letters.

"My name is Mr Finn". He said as he dropped the marker. Finn wore a red shirt complemented with red trousers and white shoes. There were white pocadots scattered over his shirt and trouser. He looked like the epitome of a Cupid.

Most of the students did not seem to take to notice his funny appearance, all of them stared at him with rapt attention.

"Now a few of you are here by chance". Finn turned his head towards Ayanfe as soon as he said those statements. "While there are a whole other lot that are here because their parents are millionaires and they could simply afford to throw huge sums of money to provide substandard education that can be provided in public schools for basically nothing". He turned his head towards Omari as soon as he said those words. "But you all are here nonetheless, and as much as I hate it, there is nothing I can do about it. So let's make the best of our situations".

After his brief speech, declaring the beginning of his feud with Ayanfe and Omari, the geography class commenced.

There were a few classes that turned out the exact same way as the geography class, the others that didn't turn out as bad turning out much worse.

The attitude from the students didn't make it any better, and to cap it all, she didn't even come to school today. The only reason why he wanted to come to school didn't show.

"Hey, let's go for training". Omari said to Ayanfe as soon as they heard the closing bells.

"Don't you have to go home and get all your training gear". Ayanfe raised a brow. "Everyone's going to go home to change".

Omari smiled sheepishly. "I have it all in my bag".

Ayanfe looked at him with the kind of gaze that was usually reserved for mad people. "Yeah… I'll meet you at the training center".

True to Ayanfe's words, when Omari arrived at the training center, there was no one present there. The head coach had only started setting some cones. He told Omari to do some training drills until the rest of the team arrived.

When the rest of the team arrived, that manager called everyone over. The thirty four man squad sat down in a circular shape round him as he spoke.

"Today, we're going to do some light excercises which would be followed by a tactical meeting. We're going to analyze the playing style and weakness". The manager said. "But first Steve will tell you the starting eleven in tomorrow's game".

"It's going to be a 4-2-3-1 formation". The head coach said. He gave everyone a piece of paper while he talked".

"Goalkeeper: James Lawrence".

"Defenders: Left back- James Tylen, Left center back- Conrad Bishop, Right center back- Anthony Tyler, Right back: Mallory Walker".

"Midfielders: Left centre midfielder- Jeremy Walker, Right Centre midfielder- Ashley Martins, Attacking Midfielder- Jack Ryans, Right midfielder- Joshua Taylor, Left Midfielder- Omari Hutchingson".

"Forwards: Striker: Anthony Waller".

Substitutes: Zervi Allergiixe, Remus Sheldon, Derek Logan, Blake Towers, Tyler Henrie, Blaise Parett, Servious Scall.

Immediately Omari heard his name, he was plunged into a euphoria of happiness. He almost stood up and threw his fist into the air. The fact that his teammates were watching him was probably the only reason why he controlled himself.

"Omari, you're not even supposed to be in the starting lineup, you've only had one training session with us. Honestly, it's a gamble even including you in the squad". The manager said as soon as the head coach finished talking . "But if you can cut past their defenders the way you did ours, then I think I'll have to start taking more gambles with you". His expression softened to form a smile when he finished talking.

Omari nodded at him and smiled back. The manager didn't have to tell him anything. He knew how it felt to be considered as not even a third choice player. He wouldn't let the opportunity pass him by.
