Chapter 98 - ch98- Deadly Duel

After the chanting of his spell, the green-haired boy named Marc burst into wild laughter, shouting manically, "Even if you are a legendary ninja, you will die! How dare you toy with me! You will regret it in endless curses!"

A massive green figure suddenly shot out from the clouds—it was a colossal, emerald snake, far larger than any serpent known to man, its body ten or even a hundred times the size of the world's largest pythons. Half of its enormous body emerged from the clouds and struck towards Alex with terrifying speed.

"Reflect Blade!"

Alex, brimming with confidence in his power and luck, treated the probabilistic skill 'Reflect Blade' as a voice-activated one. Fortunately, this time, the skill didn't fail him.

A fierce blast of sword energy met the snake, causing it to squint as it flew towards Alex. But just as it was about to collide, Alex effortlessly swatted it away with one swing of his sword!

Marc, hovering in midair, was dumbfounded, as were the spectators watching from afar.

In truth, had the 'Reflect Blade' skill not activated and if the snake had been a summoned entity from another realm, Alex could have killed it in one blow. But this was no ordinary creature—it was a manifestation of a curse. And when the 'Reflect Blade' activated, the enormous green serpent hurtled back towards Marc at an even greater speed.

"No! Stay away!" Marc shrieked in terror.

Unmoved by his cries, the giant green snake swallowed him whole, bursting with immense curse energy that immediately consumed the green-haired boy, killing him instantly.

With his first victory secured, Alex's global rank jumped to over 100,000. However, his next match took nearly five minutes to find an opponent.

His next challenger made Alex's eyes light up—it was a towering, golden Belos monster!

Standing over three stories tall and nearly 10 meters in height, the creature's four powerful legs gave it a sturdy, muscular appearance, while its massive frame exuded coordination and raw power.

The most striking feature was the golden armor-like skin that covered the monster, its joints adorned with sharp spikes. Its chest and vital areas were protected by even thicker armor. Unlike other Belos monsters Alex had faced, this one held weapons: in its left hand, a dazzling golden blade, and in its right, a purple shield.

Clearly, this was no ordinary monster. It had the intelligence to wield weapons, and formidable ones at that.

Lacking knowledge of Alex's strength, the golden Belos monster unleashed an aggressive charge at the start of the match, eager to test its strength.

Alex hesitated momentarily but then decided to meet the charge head-on, figuring it might be more interesting to engage in close combat. Who knows, perhaps the creature could withstand a single blow?

-208,000!

Alex's fleeting hope was immediately shattered by the astronomical damage number. The golden Belos monster, despite raising its shield in a desperate attempt to block, was obliterated by Alex's strike, its shield and body torn apart in a single, devastating blow.

The fight ended almost as quickly as it had started, not even lasting 10 seconds. Even some of the tournament's overseers were caught off-guard by the match's abrupt conclusion.

Although disappointed by how short the fight had been, Alex was pleased with the loot dropped by the golden Belos. Not only did he obtain an SR-grade Awakening Stone, but the golden sword the creature had wielded was now his as well.

[Behemoth Fang (SR+3)]

Description: A powerful weapon imbued with the strength of the god of Belos.

Effect 1: Inflicts 2000% additional damage and grants 90% life-steal based on total damage dealt.

Effect 2: Divine Strike: Consumes 30% energy to inflict a life-halving blow on opponents with a mental attribute 3 levels below your own. Can only be used once per target.

(Note: This item is exclusive to Belos. To use it, a conversion is required. There is a chance this item may drop upon death when equipped.)

The 'Behemoth Fang' was an incredibly rare and powerful weapon, far superior to Alex's current R+9 'Dragon God's Fang.' It was also listed as part of the exclusive equipment for Belos, leading Alex to suspect it might belong to a full set of gear.

However, to use it, the weapon would need to be converted, and Alex still had to complete his resource point task. For now, he couldn't check with Ethan to see if he could handle the conversion.

With a second swift victory, Alex's global rank shot up to around 60,000, but finding his next opponent took even longer. After about 10 minutes, his third challenger finally appeared.

This time, Alex found himself facing another golden Belos monster, though different from the last. This one had wings!

It wasn't wearing flight gear; the wings were part of its body.

This golden Belos wielded a longbow that shimmered with golden light, suggesting it, too, was an SR-grade weapon. Compared to the previous golden Belos, this one was smaller, but it still stood taller than Alex. The moment the match began, it drew its bowstring, keeping its distance while firing precise, deadly arrows at him.

Unlike the purple Belos Alex had fought the day before, this golden archer had far better aim. Its arrows formed a deadly triangle, locking onto Alex's position. If his speed wasn't leagues above his opponent's, dodging would have been much more challenging.

But there was no room for "if" in reality. Now several levels faster than he was the day before, Alex moved like a missile. With a single leap, he crossed the battlefield in just a few strides.

Before the golden Belos realized what was happening, Alex's blue blade slashed through it.

-208,000!

The fight ended even faster than the previous one, with Alex delivering another devastating blow that wiped out the golden Belos monster in a single strike.
