Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: The Asgard Signal

The hum of the computers on the S.H.I.E.L.D. shuttle filled the room with a series of electronic beeps and whistles. Skye was focused on her monitor screen, analyzing a satellite signal she had recently picked up. It was strange, unusual, something that seemed familiar but that she couldn't immediately identify.

"Fitz, Simmons, come here!" Skye called, adjusting the signal for clarity. "This looks... something like the readings we got when Thor showed up last time." Fitz walked over, frowned, and leaned over Skye's keyboard, analyzing the data.

"I agree, this doesn't look like anything terrestrial. The energy signature is almost identical to Asgard's." Coulson, upon hearing this, left his office and walked quickly over.

"Are we sure this is related to Asgard?"

"There is no other logical explanation," Simmons replied. — Unless we have an alien similar to them appearing on Earth.

Coulson thought for a moment, his eyes dark with the memory of the last time Earth was involved with beings from another world. He shook his head and said:

— Let's investigate.

The team landed near the source of the signal. Ward, May, Skye, Coulson and Fitz-Simmons got off the shuttle and headed towards the indicated location. As they approached a clearing, they spotted a female figure in shining armor, holding a long, imposing sword. Her presence emanated power and authority. It was Lady Sif.

Upon seeing them, the warrior from Asgard raised her sword, but quickly lowered it when she recognized Coulson.

"Son of Coul?" Lady Sif said, surprised. "Thor told me you were dead."

Coulson smiled slightly, unsurprised. He was used to this reaction.

"Well, that was true... for a while. But I'm back. It's good to see you, Sif."

She nodded, sheathing her sword.

"It's good to see a warrior resurface. But I'm here on an urgent mission. Lorelai, a dangerous sorceress from Asgard, has escaped from prison. The Allfather has assigned me to find her and bring her back. I need your help to locate her."

May, always direct, intervened:

"Who is Lorelai and why is she so dangerous?"

Lady Sif gave the team a serious look.

"Lorelai has the power to enchant men with her voice. Any man who hears her becomes a slave to her will. She has caused war and destruction in worlds before. And now she's here, on Earth."

Skye looked at Ward with a worried look. If Lorelai had the power to control men, Ward could be an easy target, especially now with his increased strength.

"Do we know where she is?" Ward asked.

Lady Sif nodded.

"I followed her energy. She's at a bar nearby." Lorelai must have charmed every man in the place by now.

Coulson looked at Ward and May.

"Let's get her back before she causes any more trouble." The team arrived at the bar. It was a rustic place, full of motorcycles parked in front. Outside, some men with leather jackets and tattoos seemed to be acting strangely, with fixed gazes and tense bodies.

"She's been here before," Lady Sif whispered, drawing her sword. "Stay alert." When they entered the bar, the scene was chaotic. All the men present were completely under Lorelai's control, their expressions blank, as if they were mere pawns ready to obey any order.

And in the center of the chaos was Lorelai, with long, red hair, her presence dominating and seductive. When she saw the team, she smiled mischievously.

"Ah, visitors. How lovely. Have you come to see me?"

Before she could finish her sentence, Ward rushed forward, his movements so fast and precise that even Lady Sif was surprised. He took down man after man effortlessly, his strength clearly far greater than any of the enchanted ones. The men came in waves, trying to protect Lorelai, but Ward took them down with ease. Every blow was precise, every movement swift. He not only defeated them, but did so with impressive efficiency.

Lady Sif watched the scene with wide eyes. She had never seen a human fight with such strength and speed.

"He… he's not normal, is he?" she asked in disbelief.

Coulson looked at Ward, knowing what Sif meant.

"No, he's definitely not."

Lorelai, realizing that Ward was too powerful for her enchanted men, tried to use her voice to charm him. She began to speak, her melodious voice echoing through the bar, but Ward was faster. He knew he couldn't let her get away with it. With one precise blow, he knocked her out before she could finish her sentence.

Lady Sif quickly placed the necklace around Lorelai's neck, blocking her magical powers.

"This necklace will contain her magic until she is returned to Asgard," Sif said, relieved.

Lorelai, now incapacitated, was carried away by Lady Sif. The warrior thanked the team, especially Ward.

— I've never seen a human with such strength and speed. You are extraordinary, Grant, Ward's son.

Ward, still processing his newfound abilities, simply nodded.

— I only did what needed to be done.

Sif smiled and, with Lorelai in her arms, activated the Bifrost, returning to Asgard.

Later, on the bus, Coulson called Skye for a private conversation. He knew it was time to tell her the truth about what brought them back to life.

"Skye, we need to talk," Coulson said, closing the door behind him.

Skye looked at him, curious, but with a hint of concern.

"What is it, Coulson?"

He sighed, sitting across from her.

"I found out what brought us back. The drug they used on us, GH 325… it's not human. In fact, it came from an alien creature."

Skye was silent for a moment, processing the information. She had always known there was something strange about how they both survived, but hearing the truth was a shock.

"An alien creature?" she repeated, incredulous.

Coulson nodded, with a serious look.

"Yes. And we don't know what the long-term effects of this drug are on our bodies. That's why I didn't want to tell you before, but now you deserve to know."

Skye took a deep breath, digesting Coulson's words. But instead of despairing, she just nodded slowly.

"Okay. So, what do we do now?"

Coulson was surprised by her calmness, but felt a weight lift off his shoulders when he realized Skye was handling the truth well.

"Now, let's go after whoever did this. The Clairvoyant. He's responsible for all of this, and I promise we'll catch him." Skye nodded confidently.

"I'm with you, Coulson. We're going to end this."

While Coulson and Skye spoke, May was in her room, listening through a hidden microphone. Her face was impassive as she listened to the conversation, but her fingers were quickly typing a message on an encrypted device.

"Coulson knows."

The message was sent, and May silently stared at the screen, pondering what this secret could mean for the team's future.
