Chereads / JJK Kaleidoscope: The Divine Power Of Mangekyō / Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Testing the Waters, Seizing Power

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Testing the Waters, Seizing Power

Upon learning of his mother's death for the first time...At that moment, Mirai felt an overwhelming desire to escape everything—to destroy everything.

And it was this very desire that awakened the powers of his Mangekyō Sharingan: one, Kamui Intangibility, which allowed him to ignore all offensive techniques, and the other, Kamui Annihilation, capable of shattering any defense.

Back then, Zen'in Fan's curse-infused slash hadn't missed. It was just that Mirai had used Kamui's intangibility[1] to phase through the attack. [T/N: I am hoping you all know what Kamui and Intangibility is. If not I will leave the description at the end of the chapter.]

The bizarre moment when he instantly killed Zen'in Shinrou? That was Kamui Annihilation[2], a spatial technique at work.

Much like the Sharingan technique in another anime, Naruto, used by Obito, though with slight differences.

The growth and activation of the Sharingan didn't rely on chakra in this world, but on cursed energy.

Mirai didn't have to worry about the terrifying side effects of excessive Mangekyō use, like blindness. The cursed energy, which was constantly being absorbed, not only replenished his ocular power but even further enhanced his eyes' abilities!

All of this information about his techniques had naturally appeared in his mind the moment his eyes awakened.

With that awakening, Mirai also understood why his cursed energy had been so weak when he was born.

Aside from the Mangekyō Sharingan, two objects had resided within the Kamui dimension, and they were the source of everything.

The Gedo Statue[3], partially released, had been transformed into a curse spirit under this world's laws.

And alongside it, there was a top-tier cursed tool that had also ended up in the wrong world—the Uchiha Fan[4], capable of reflecting cursed energy attacks.

Before Mirai activated his Sharingan, these two items had been hidden within the Kamui dimension, unconsciously absorbing all the cursed energy around them.

It wasn't until his eyes opened that Mirai could finally exert some control over Kamui.

Using the Sharingan as a medium, the endless cursed energy absorbed by the Gedo Statue now flowed through him!

It was this surge of cursed energy that had awakened the Ten Shadows Technique from within the shadows, as naturally as if it had always been there.

Pushing open the wooden door, Mirai lay down on the corridor with a pillow in hand, gazing up at the dim stars, his thoughts swirling.

Today was the first time he had experienced the full might of the Gedo Statue, and he was quite satisfied with the results.

Even in its initial awakening, it already carried the aura of a special-grade curse spirit!

When his powers had awakened at six, it took him four years to familiarize himself with his growing strength and to fully subdue the nine shikigami of the Ten Shadows Technique.

It wasn't until early this morning, when he finally mastered the Gedo Statue, that he couldn't resist setting his "greetings" in motion.

Initially, when Mirai had first arrived in this world, he had planned to join Jujutsu High and rely on the main cast to survive until the end.

But after everything he had experienced in the Zen'in family, he had come to a profound realization.

Relying on others would never compare to relying on oneself.

Even someone as powerful as Gojo Satoru... didn't he end up as a mere shadow of his former self in the end?

So why shouldn't he be the one to claim the title of the strongest?[T/N: That's the spirit.]

...

The next morning.

A regular member of the Kukuruyu unit, standing near the corridor, looked nervously at the boy lying there.

Swallowing hard, he called out softly, "My lord, my lord."

"Lord Mirai, please wake up. The family head and others are waiting for you in the meeting room."

Mirai opened his eyes and glanced coldly at the cautious servant standing in the distance. In a low voice, he spat out two words: "Let them wait."

With that, he slowly stood up and casually walked back into his room to wash up and change clothes.

Ten minutes later—

As Mirai walked down the long corridor, the ruins from the previous night had already been cleared away, and the bodies buried beneath the debris had been removed.

Even the stench of blood in the air had been purified, leaving no trace of the gruesome scene from just half a day ago.

Whether it was servants or sorcerers he passed along the way, everyone showed expressions of fear and respect as Mirai walked by.

After all, the events of the previous night were still fresh in their minds.

...

Inside the spacious meeting room, only two people from the Zen'in family's so-called higher-ups were present.

There should have been three, but one of them had, unfortunately, "moved" last night.

The family head, Naobito, leaned against the table, gulping from a wine gourd. Beside him sat a burly man with a full beard, his expression showing some impatience.

His messy black hair spiked out like a hedgehog, and a fierce cross-shaped scar on his forehead gave the man a wild and dangerous appearance.

This was Zen'in Jinichi, in charge of the Zen'in family's external industries and intelligence gathering. He was also a formidable Grade 1 sorcerer.

Naobito, glancing at Mirai, seemed somewhat dazed. The boy standing before him, clean and well-dressed, with a handsome face, was a far cry from the killing god who had unleashed such power the night before. His entire demeanor had changed.

As for Zen'in Jinichi, who had been away on family business the previous night, he hadn't seen Mirai's display of power.

Even with the family head's account, Jinichi found it hard to believe that this calm-looking boy had brutally killed Zen'in Fan, a fellow Grade 1 sorcerer, in front of everyone!

As the cold-faced boy drew closer, Jinichi's gaze, filled with both doubt and curiosity, flickered with cursed energy, his aura swelling.

Was this boy truly the one? A little test would reveal the truth!

The invisible pressure that only a Grade 1 sorcerer could exert suddenly bore down on the boy.

Mirai paused in his steps, a cold smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.

It seemed his display of strength last night hadn't been enough. His black eyes instantly shifted to blood red!

"Jinichi!!"

Sensing the surge of cursed energy beside him, Naobito's heart sank.

Before things could escalate further, Naobito immediately wrapped his legs in cursed energy and, in the blink of an eye, rammed into Jinichi's waist, tackling him out of the room.

As Jinichi was forcefully knocked back, he heard the sonic boom near his ears, followed by the sound of the wooden door shattering.

His vision blurred with the sight of white shockwaves swirling in the air, fragments of the broken door flying everywhere!

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?!"

Jinichi, now seated on the concrete ground, hadn't even fully recovered when the family head's angry scolding reached his ears.

"Mirai, forgive this foolish old man just this once," Naobito quickly explained, standing up and looking back at the boy in the room. "He was handling some family affairs last night and just returned not long ago."

Though Mirai was only ten years old and physically more mature than most his age, his height still only reached about 1.6 meters.

Standing in the corridor, Mirai's gaze was level with Naobito's, but it allowed him to look down at the still-dazed Jinichi, who remained sprawled on the ground.

Being stared down by the boy's blood-red eyes, Jinichi felt a sudden chill creep into his heart, making him shiver uncontrollably.

Mirai thought for a moment before turning his gaze to Naobito. "I'll give you face this time. But if there's a next time, I won't hold back."

After last night's cleansing, the Zen'in family had already suffered significant losses.

Killing Jinichi, who controlled the family's external affairs, would make the family's operations much less efficient.

Considering this, Mirai decided to spare the man's life, for now.

Naobito nodded, though a bitter taste filled his mouth.

Being the family head really was more suffocating than he'd ever imagined.

"All of the Zen'in higher-ups are here now, so what was it you wanted to announce last night?" Naobito asked, standing in the courtyard, his tone direct.

"Step down. I'm more suited to be the head of the Zen'in family than you."

Jinichi, who had just started to push himself up, froze in place, staring in disbelief at the ten-year-old boy standing in the corridor.

'Good heavens, you're even more straightforward than your dead father!'

Even Naobito twitched slightly at Mirai's blunt declaration, feeling at a loss for words.

But when he met Mirai's serious gaze, Naobito had a strong premonition...

If he refused, he might not leave the room alive.

[1] Kamui Intangibility: Kamui allows the user to transfer anything to another dimension. Once a target is sent to this dimension, it is unable to escape. This technique, when used through Obito's right eye, is also able to make the user "intangible" by transporting portions of their body to the same pocket dimension.

[2] Kamui Annihilation: Obito lands a series of punches and kicks to his opponent, all the while phasing between attacks

[3]Gedo Statue: The Gedo Statue, also known as the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, is a character from Naruto. The Gedo Statue is the husk of the Ten-Tails, left behind after its chakra was separated from its body. Hagoromo and Hamura Ōtsutsuki sealed the Gedo Statue in the moon. Madara Uchiha awakened the Rinnegan, allowing him to break the seal and summon the Gedo Statue to Earth. The Gedo Statue was used as a container for the tailed beasts captured by Akatsuki.

[4]Uchiha Fan/Gunbai: The Gunbai is slightly different but useful though, a gunbai, or Gunbai Uchiha, is a non-folding fan, carved from a unique spirit tree from which only ritualistic instruments are made. This Gunbai has been passed down between Uchiha clansmen for generations.
