Although Faolan is indeed handsome and looks dashing in military attire, how did such a despicable man manage to completely ensnare the original host, reducing her to a state of total selflessness?
To be treated so cruelly, yet love fiercely... Truly foolish and deserving of fate's retribution.
With a cold huff, Seraphelle pretended not to see the two on the sofa and proceeded upstairs without a glance back.
Upon hearing footsteps, Faolan finally looked up and saw Seraphelle, who, without uttering a word, intended to go upstairs, sparking a flash of anger on his face.
"Seraphelle, hold on, are you just going to walk away without a word?"
Seraphelle paused her steps, turning her face towards Faolan.
"What do you want? Do you want a detailed report of how last night went for me?"
As Seraphelle finished speaking, Lily quickly rushed over and grabbed Seraphelle's hand in a show of apology.
"Madam, it's all my fault. Did Lupercus trouble you? I'm sorry, truly sorry. If it weren't for my illness yesterday, the Commandant wouldn't have had you explain things to Lupercus on my behalf."
Lily's tears flowed, her face full of apologies.
Faolan then approached and pulled Lily away from Seraphelle.
"Don't apologize to her. Lupercus wouldn't spare a glance for a woman like her."
With a tone laced with near disgust, Faolan's gaze turned cold as he fixed his eyes on Seraphelle.
"Why did you come back only in the morning? Where did you spend the night? Lily worried about you all night long. Do you have no conscience?"
Faolan dared to place Seraphelle in front of Lupercus with the assurance that once he knew she was his wife, Lupercus would not dare mistreat her.
He expected her to be sent back in the middle of the night, but her morning return further fueled his anger.
Watching Lily still in tears, the furious Commandant, Faolan, focused his attention on Seraphelle, who, after a faint smile, loosened her cheongsam dress' collar.
Coming from a traditional background, all of Seraphelle's clothes were high-collared cheongsam dresses. Her elegant neck had always been concealed by these collars.
As she undid it, her fair neck and stunning collarbones were revealed, bearing faint marks on her delicate skin that had yet to fade.
It seemed Lupercus had a penchant for her neck; his breath lingered there all night, caressing and nibbling, leaving behind numerous ambiguous traces. As an enthusiast of the pleasure gardens, Faolan naturally recognized what these marks signified.
With a stern look, he grabbed Seraphelle's shoulders.
"Who did this to you? How dare you betray me behind my back?"
"Heh."
Seraphelle swatted Faolan's hand away and then grinned coyly.
"Who did this? Where did you send me yesterday? Have you forgotten? Also, don't talk to me this way. I served Lupercus all night on your behalf. Now, I'm sore, and tired, and my legs ache terribly. But I must admit, Lupercus is quite skilled."
Amid Seraphelle's suggestive smile, Faolan's complexion turned a shade of green.
Pushing Lily aside, Faolan drew his gun, a menacing sight aimed at Seraphelle's heart.
"You wretched woman, I'll end you."
Facing the enraged man, Seraphelle's smile faded, replaced by an icy, ruthless stare.
"Am I wretched? Yes, I am quite wretched. Despite knowing you are just an ungrateful scoundrel, I loved you recklessly. I poured all of my heart into you, yet what did you do? Because of this woman, you handed me over to another!
Furthermore, from the day we married till now, have you ever stopped chasing other women outside? You treat even the most inexpensive of women like treasures, yet you've never touched me once.
And now, seeing me with someone else, you're upset? Commandant, you can't set the whole forest ablaze and forbid others to light a lamp.
And who are you aiming that gun at?"
After her cold address, Seraphelle took a step back, turned, and ascended the stairs.
Yet, after walking a few steps, she paused, slightly turned her face, and uttered:
"After being tossed around all night, I'm tired. Once I've rested well, let's proceed with the divorce."
Upon hearing this, Faolan's heart clenched. He had never imagined that the persistent, repulsive woman who clung to him would one day willingly bring up divorce.
Before he could gather his thoughts on what to say next, Seraphelle spoke again.
"Whoever hesitates about divorce is a fool."
With that statement, Seraphelle continued upstairs without looking back.
Faolan stood there blankly, a moment of emptiness in his mind.
Observing his demeanour, Lily bit her lip and quickly grasped his trembling hand, still clutching the gun.
"Commandant, are you alright? Perhaps Lady Seraphelle's words were said in the heat of the moment. Besides, I don't think Lupercus would do anything to Madam."
Lily's soothing words were laden with understanding, and she genuinely believed Lupercus wouldn't touch Seraphelle.
Not only was Seraphelle the Commandant's wife, which would give Lupercus some trepidation, but also, in Lily's past attempts, she found Lupercus to be abstinent. If she couldn't sway him, how could this naive Lady of the Commandant?
Soothed by Lily's words, Faolan's expression softened. As he looked down at the delicate Lily, he holstered his gun and drew her into an embrace.
"I'm sorry for alarming you."
"It's alright, Commandant. Just don't get mad again."
With a thoughtful silence, Faolan stroked Lily's hair, aiming to offer solace, yet his gaze remained fixed where Seraphelle last stood.
Meanwhile, in her room, Seraphelle relaxed in the bathtub, the warmth of the water washing away her exhaustion.
But as she glanced at the more prominent marks on her legs in the bathtub, Seraphelle blushed anew.
What kind of person is Lupercus, she pondered. Why would marrying her be sufficient to achieve his mission? Is this task too straightforward?
Just as she contemplated this, the system's voice interjected.
"Master, are you questioning me?"
"Heh!" Seraphelle chuckled. "Are you too sensitive? What did I question about you?"
"You're looking down on this task," the somewhat peeved system's voice replied.
"I'm not, I just find it odd. How difficult could it be for Lupercus to marry me?"
"Let me put it this way: Lupercus hasn't shown any intention of settling down or marrying any woman so far. Due to being abandoned by his mother from a young age, he harbours a strong aversion to family life. He doesn't want children of his own and is highly disciplined, even though he has lavish wealth and access to beauties, he maintains strict abstinence."
Listening to the system's explanation, Seraphelle bit her lower lip.
The system seemed more and more unreliable. Lupercus, denying his abstinence again and again last night, all of that had escaped her notice.
