Chapter 5 - A Forbidden Bond

As the days passed, Kael found himself growing closer to Eiran despite his lingering doubts.

There was something about the mage's intensity, his determination, that drew Kael in.

They spent hours in the library, poring over books and magical artifacts, discussing strategies and theories.

One evening, as they worked late into the night, Kael found himself studying Eiran more closely.

The way his silver hair fell across his forehead when he was deep in thought, the way his violet eyes seemed to glow in the candlelight.

Kael had always felt isolated because of the curse, but with Eiran, the loneliness seemed to fade.Eiran must have sensed Kael's gaze because he looked up, meeting his eyes.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The air between them felt charged, electric.

"You're staring," Eiran said softly, a faint smile playing at his lips.Kael felt a rush of heat to his cheeks and looked away, embarrassed.

"I was just… thinking.""About the curse?" Eiran asked, though there was a teasing lilt in his voice.

"No," Kael admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. For a moment, neither of them moved.

Then, slowly, Eiran stood, walking around the table until he was standing in front of Kael.

"Kael…" Eiran began, his voice soft, unsure.Kael's heart raced, his chest tightening with emotions he didn't fully understand.

But before either of them could say another word, a loud knock sounded at the door, breaking the moment.

"Your Majesty!" Captain Thorne's voice called from the hallway.

"It's urgent."Kael closed his eyes briefly, willing his heart to slow. "What is it?"

"The Vorthal army, sire. They've crossed the border."
