Link completed the final integration of technology and ideas for his suit design. His role in S.H.I.E.L.D. was essentially that of a special agent or assassin, though somewhat unique since he came into this profession later in life. As a Level 6 agent, Link wasn't high enough to access the most sensitive S.H.I.E.L.D. secrets, yet he was still called upon for important tasks.
Whether it was dealing with Iron Monger, meeting Bruce Banner, or monitoring Captain America, it seemed like Nick Fury always had challenging assignments lined up for him. Thankfully, Link's deep understanding of psychology helped him navigate these difficult situations.
However, he knew that building an Iron Man-style suit wasn't ideal for him. Instead, Link shifted his focus away from tight-fitting armor, drawing inspiration from his memories of two iconic skins from the *League of Legends* universe: Project Lucian and Hyperion Squad Z01-Orion Lucian.
These two skins sparked creativity in Link's mind. In his past life, he had collected several skins, including the Project series, though he hadn't owned the Hyperion Squad series. He noted how the characters from that skin line had wings attached to their backs, which led him to think about his flight solutions.
His newly modified hoverboard could now attach directly to the back of the suit, simulating wings. This gave him a secondary flight mode. With AI assistance and the use of nanotechnology, the hoverboard could switch between flight modes and also help carry extra ammunition for his weapons.
Just like Lucian in the *Project* skin, Link envisioned his suit incorporating utility belts and ammo pouches. While Lucian's skin utilized energy weapons, Link opted for more conventional firearms. A belt with a row of pistol magazines seemed like a practical addition, and he also planned to store a knife box on the back of his waist. But pistols wouldn't suffice on their own—he'd need assault rifles as well. The magazines for these larger weapons could be stored on the hoverboard.
Missile mounts and ammunition boxes could also be attached to his hoverboard, enhancing his firepower and mobility. By this point, Link's mind was fully in gear, and he realized that he was essentially filling the firepower gap in the Avengers' lineup.
"Honestly, the Avengers always seem underpowered in terms of firepower," he mused. "People have often pointed out how places like Wakanda, with their advanced tech, still use spears and engage in hand-to-hand combat against massive alien armies."
Link chuckled to himself at the absurdity of it all before returning to his design. He didn't want to make his suit too powerful—that wasn't his objective. He intentionally limited his capabilities, as his role in the Avengers was meant to be more of a supporting one, especially when it came to the Infinity Stones. His goal wasn't to be the center of attention.
With Lucian's *Project* skin as a reference, Link enhanced the design for the suit's belt, shoulder pads, arm guards, knee pads, and leg armor. While these features were primarily aesthetic, he made sure they were durable and practical, using vibranium if possible. The skin also included a helmet, allowing Link to communicate seamlessly with his AI.
His design incorporated a tailcoat-like feature at the back, resembling a bird's tail, which added style while still maintaining function. Because the suit utilized nanotechnology, there was no need for a bulky interface at the back—his hoverboard would connect directly through an upper-back interface, providing seamless transformation between flight modes.
In the end, the modular flight suit design was complete. The waist carried essential weaponry, while a Glock 17 pistol could be holstered at the thigh. For now, he didn't need energy weapons, though he had plans to design a pair of energy pistols powered by Tony Stark's new element. Link had previously scanned Stark's reactor, and his automated factory was equipped with cold fusion technology, so manufacturing energy weapons was within reach.
However, he wouldn't be relying on Stark's arc reactor. Instead, Link planned to integrate a custom energy reactor into the guns themselves.
While the design was finalized, Link didn't begin the suit's construction immediately—he lacked vibranium. Once he had the material, he could start fabricating the nano-components, as his automated factory had the necessary capabilities for nanotech production.
Link also designed a suit for Jessica. He took inspiration from the *Project* Ashe skin, which also came with a helmet. Her suit was more form-fitting, emphasizing agility and her natural physique. Like his own suit, hers could connect to a hoverboard at the back, with the colors and design matching the armor.
For Jessica's weapons, Link designed a large-caliber long-range energy rifle, though she could also use an assault rifle when necessary. Her suit didn't require energy power sources for movement, as both she and Link had enough natural strength and endurance. The primary focus for Jessica's armor was defense and escape rather than combat.
As for Link, his energy pistols would suffice for most situations. With no other allies around, his firepower would be more than enough to handle any threats.
...
"Hey, Coulson, I need to head to Africa. This time, I'll need to bring some heavy weapons with me. Any chance you can arrange a plane?" Link inquired.
"Link, you never cease to surprise me. Do you have some intel for this mission?" Coulson asked curiously.
"No, it's personal business," Link replied. "But if no plane is available, I can always charter one myself."
"I'll take care of it. You're still a Level 6 agent, after all. You have access to some resources," Coulson responded without hesitation, despite Link's changing status within S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Thanks. I'll wait for your call. By the way, there haven't been any missions for me lately, huh?" Link asked, trying to keep the conversation casual.
"Nope. You're considered high-tier support now, so the Director wants to keep you under the radar. But that also means you won't be sent on minor missions," Coulson said.
Link rolled his eyes. It wasn't that there weren't dangerous missions—Fury just preferred to keep him in reserve for the really tough ones.
In any case, Link wasn't going to push further. For now, his target was Ulysses Klaue, who possessed a significant amount of vibranium. If Ultron could use it to build an enormous body, then constructing two suits would be no problem at all.
