Chapter 2 - AN ABSURD PROPOSAL.

She sat uncomfortably on her seat as her nervousness overwhelmed her.

"WHAT IF SHE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CONTRACT, HOW WOULD SHE SALVE HER GUILT THEN"

Her attention was shifted to the man that walked in amongst the board ministers.

He was obviously the president but she wasn't able to take a closer look.

Hanging onto the little hope she had left, she sighed and sank deeply into the chair.

Her eyes widened in shock when she heard the president's voice.

It was surely the man that sat beside her.

She watched him walk closer to her and to her more shocking surprise, he was the one but he was looking more handsome than before.

"Hello, Miss Milford, nice to meet you" he said as he extended his hand towards her.

She stared at him with shock and disbelief, there was no way he could be the man she sat beside on the plane.

"I hope you know that it is an honour to have the president of this distinguished company walk up to you and request for an handshake" he said coldly, withdrawing his hands.

She hesitantly shook his hands with a nervous smile, it was just an handshake, she had nothing to lose.

After a long period, the ministers announced recess for thirty minutes and everyone got dismissed in high hopes of the announcement that would come during the second part of the meeting.

Her heart pounded as she waited for the arrival of the others during the recess that was allocated.

"You know, Miss Milford, you can get the contract" he said from behind with a coy smile.

"Did you just say that?" She asked with an askance as she turned to face him.

He nodded as she stood from the seat.

"Thank you so much, you really can't imagine how important this contract means to me" she said, now nodding consistently as a sign of appreciation.

"Sabrina Milford. Aren't you supposed to be a model?" He asked, he knew he was getting too nosy but he wanted to pull her legs.

"I am not just a model but the owner of an engineering company" she replied.

She felt uncomfortable having him around her the moment she found out that they were alone in the room .

"I said you can get the contract not that I will give you the contract" he said as he walked to his seat.

She understood that a condition would come with if she truly wanted to get the contract and she was prepared for it.How bad could it be, she already had a worse life.

"It's quite simple Miss Milford, All I want is a contract marriage, sex is not restricted, romance is not restricted and definitely not kissing" he informed with ease.

She opened her mouth in awe. If she wasn't doubtful of her hearing, she had heard him mention "sex, romance and kissing".

All those terms had nothing to do with the contract, why was he mentioning it to her.

She doubted if she had heard him correctly, taking a good look at him as he stood from his seat again and walked up to her.

"What did I just hear you say?" She asked him.

This time, she felt uneasy, the recess was taking too long!

"Marry me Milford, that's what I am saying.

Marry me, and you'll get the contract, I can surely imagine how important it is for you to get this contract"

She remembered how well she had presented, she had been in the job for many years and she knew how to use her format she needed no one's help to get a contract and it couldn't be different this time.

"I...

She was not able to complete her statement as the recess was over and the troupes rushed in.

During the second half of the meeting, thier eyes met consistently and all she could do was avoid him.

"The contract has been awarded to the Miss Milford" the president announced before the ministers could announce thier final decision.

Without any disapproval, she got the contract.

Everyone left the room dejectedly, including the ministers who felt insulted by him.

Thinking it was over with the proposal as she had gotten the contract, she stood to leave after thanking him.

"Wait, You don't have to go back to the airport, I already have your baggages" he informed with ease.

She turned to him in shock.

"How could he have her baggages, there was no way the airline could have been so careless that they would give him her baggages, he must have seen her leave the airline without her baggages, and now he is using it on her" she thought and smirked.

'That's a lie Mr President, the airline...

'Maybe you don't know but I own literally everything in this country, getting your baggages from the port is a piece of cake" he said confidently.

She saw how confident he looked and could not help but believe him.

How was she going to cope, she had no intention of staying in California for long, she wanted to avoid the past as well as she can but yet again, she was trapped.

She wasn't aware that they had walked out of the Company holding hands until they got to the garage.

"Your seem list Miss Milford, and you shouldn't be. It makes my presence unworthy." He said coldly but with a smile.

Staring at him as the car zoomed , she wondered what he could have seen in her before making such absurd proposal.

"For a reminder, don't try running away, it will only makes matters worse" he warned with a coy smile that gave her the creeps.

She sighed and crossed her arm silently.

She knew she was in for it. There was no going back now, she would use him to her own bmvery advantage, she needed to know a lot. About her parents and her foster father.

She needed to know a lot and she could solve all the mystery using his power.
