Song for this chapter: Breaking the habit by Linkin Park..
As the door closes behind his bandmates, Jonghyun lets out a sigh of relief, thinking he can finally rest. But, suddenly, the door bursts open and a flamboyant nurse, dressed in a bright pink uniform, sweeps in.
"OH. MY. GOSH. Jonghyun-ssi!!" she squeals, her eyes shining with excitement. "I'm your biggest fan! I've been waiting for this moment forever!"
Jonghyun's eyes widen in alarm as the nurse, whose name tag reads "Nurse Ji-hyun," begins to gush about his music, concerts, and music videos.
"Your voice is like honey, sweet and golden! I've seen 'Lucifer' like, a million times!" she exclaims, not noticing Jonghyun's growing discomfort.
Dr. Yoon, who's been observing from the sidelines, steps in, a hint of amusement on her face. "Nurse Ji-hyun, I think Jonghyun-ssi needs his rest."
But Nurse Ji-hyun is undeterred. "Just one autograph, please? For my collection?" She produces a CD and marker from her pocket.
Jonghyun hesitates, feeling trapped, but Dr. Yoon intervenes, firmly but politely. "I'm afraid that's not possible right now, Nurse Ji-hyun. Jonghyun-ssi needs to focus on his recovery."
Nurse Ji-hyun pouts, but eventually leaves, still bubbling with excitement. Jonghyun lets out a sigh of relief as the door closes behind her.
Dr. Yoon smiles sympathetically. "I'll make sure to keep her visits brief."
Jonghyun chuckles weakly. "Thanks, Doctor. I think I need protection from your staff."
Just as Dr. Yoon exits, another fan, dressed in a SHINee t-shirt and carrying a large stuffed animal, slips into the room.
"Jonghyun-ssi! I brought you a gift!" she exclaims, holding out the stuffed animal, a giant white rabbit.
Jonghyun's eyes widen in surprise, and he tries to sit up, but winces in pain.
"Please, don't get up," the fan says, rushing to his side. "I just wanted to see you and give you this. I hope you like it."
Jonghyun forces a smile, trying to be gracious despite his discomfort. "Thank you...it's very thoughtful."
The fan, whose name is Soo-young, begins to chat excitedly about SHINee's music and concerts, barely pausing for breath. Jonghyun listens patiently, still trying to recover from the earlier chaos.
Just as Soo-young is about to leave, she notices the CD and marker left behind by Nurse Ji-hyun. Her eyes light up. "Can I get your autograph too, Jonghyun-ssi?"
Jonghyun hesitates, feeling overwhelmed, but Soo-young looks so hopeful that he can't bring himself to refuse.
As he signs the CD, Soo-young asks, "Can I take a selfie with you too?"
Jonghyun's eyes plead for help, but Dr. Yoon is nowhere to be seen. He forces a weak smile, and Soo-young snaps a photo, beaming with joy.
As she leaves, Jonghyun lets out a deep sigh, feeling exhausted by the constant stream of visitors.
As the news of Jonghyun's hospitalization spreads, fans begin to flock to the hospital, eager to catch a glimpse of their idol. However, not all of them can gain access to his room, due to strict hospital policies and Dr. Yoon's efforts to protect Jonghyun's privacy.
Undeterred, some fans start to get creative, coming up with various excuses to enter the hospital. Some claim to have a relative or friend being treated in the hospital, while others pretend to be hospital staff or volunteers.
The hospital's waiting room and corridors become filled with fans, all trying to get closer to Jonghyun. Some bring gifts, flowers, and letters, hoping to pass them along to him.
Dr. Yoon and the hospital staff struggle to maintain order, politely but firmly turning away fans who don't have legitimate reasons to be there.
Meanwhile, Jonghyun, who's been watching the commotion from his room, feels both touched and overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. He knows he can't meet all of them, but he's grateful for their concern and enthusiasm.
As the situation becomes increasingly chaotic, Dr. Yoon decides to take drastic measures to protect Jonghyun's recovery and privacy.
Dr. Yoon, determined to protect Jonghyun's privacy and recovery, implements a strict visitor policy. From now on, everyone who wants to visit the hospital must:
1. Show a valid government-issued ID
2. Undergo a thorough background check
3. Have a legitimate reason for visiting the hospital (no more "I'm just visiting a friend" excuses!)
The hospital staff is instructed to be vigilant and turn away anyone who doesn't meet these criteria.
Fans who were previously hanging out in the waiting room or trying to sneak in are now forced to leave. Some try to protest or plead their case, but Dr. Yoon remains firm.
Only Jonghyun's closest friends and family, like his bandmates and Dr. Yoon herself, are allowed to visit him.
As the hospital returns to a sense of normalcy, Jonghyun finally gets the rest and peace he needs to focus on his recovery.
But, of course, this doesn't stop the fans from trying to find ways to reach their beloved idol...
With his memory loss, Jonghyun's behavior becomes more childish and innocent, like he's regressed to a younger state. He's playful, curious, and carefree, without the burdens of his idol status or past experiences.
Dr. Yoon and the hospital staff are surprised by this change, but they're also charmed by Jonghyun's newfound innocence. They try to help him regain his memories, but for now, they're happy to see him happy.
Jonghyun's bandmates, Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin, are shocked when they visit him. They're used to the strong, confident leader, not this playful, giggling person. But they're also relieved to see him smiling and carefree.
Fans are also surprised by Jonghyun's new behavior, but they're supportive and loving, as always. They send gifts and messages, hoping to help him recover.
As Jonghyun navigates this new reality, he begins to form new connections and experiences. He becomes fascinated with simple things, like puzzles, coloring books, and children's songs.
Jonghyun sits in his hospital bed, playing with a puzzle, completely absorbed in it. Dr. Yoon enters the room, smiling.
Dr. Yoon: "Jonghyun, how's the puzzle going?"
Jonghyun looks up, grinning: "I'm almost done! But I forgot what it's supposed to look like!"
Dr. Yoon chuckles: "That's okay, it's all about having fun. How's your memory today?"
Jonghyun thinks for a moment: "I remember... um... ice cream! I love ice cream!"
Dr. Yoon laughs: "That's great! We'll get you some ice cream later. But do you remember anything else? Like your name, or your friends?"
Jonghyun's face scrunches up in concentration: "Friends... friends... Oh! Taemin! I remember Taemin!"
Dr. Yoon smiles: "That's great progress, Jonghyun! Taemin will be happy to hear that."
Just then, the door bursts open, and in walk Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin, looking worried.
Onew: "Jonghyun, hyung! We were so worried about you!"
Jonghyun looks up, excited: "Taemin! You're here! Let's play with this puzzle!"
Taemin smiles, trying to hide his tears: "Of course, hyung. We'll play together."
As they work on the puzzle, Jonghyun starts to giggle and make silly jokes, like a child. His bandmates exchange concerned glances, but they're also relieved to see him happy.
Minho: "Jonghyun, hyung, do you remember our concerts? Our performances?"
Jonghyun thinks for a moment: "Concerts... concerts... Oh! I remember the costumes! I wore a shiny suit!"
Key laughs: "That's right, hyung! You looked amazing!"
The scene is filled with a mix of emotions: concern, love, and joy. Jonghyun's memory loss has brought them closer together, and they're determined to support him through this journey.
Dr. Yoon: "Jonghyun, can you tell me your name?"
Jonghyun grins mischievously: "Oh, my name is 'King Jonghyun, Lord of the Dance, Prince of Sass'."
Dr. Kim: "Umm... I think you mean just 'Jonghyun', don't you?"
Jonghyun winks: "Nope, that's my secret identity. But you can call me 'Your Highness'."
Dr. Yoon tries again: "Jonghyun, can you tell me what year it is?"
Jonghyun thinks for a moment, then responds: "Oh, it's definitely 'The Year of Jonghyun's Awesomeness'."
The doctors stare at him, speechless.
Dr. Kim: "Jonghyun, that's not a real year..."
Jonghyun interrupts: "Oh, it's real in my kingdom. And in my kingdom, I'm the ruler of fabulousness."
Dr. Yoon: "Jonghyun, stop being ridiculous and answer seriously."
Jonghyun pouts: "Fine, spoilsports. But can I at least wear my crown during therapy?"
The doctors are now completely flabbergasted.
The Dean called Dr. Yoon to his office.
Dean: "Dr. Yoon, I've noticed that Jonghyun seems to respond well to your... unique approach. I'm putting you in charge of his case."
Dr. Yoon: "But, Dean, I'm not sure I'm the best fit. He's a handful!"
Dean: "Exactly. You're the only one who can handle him. I want you to use your... creative methods to help him recover."
Dr. Yoon: "Yes, sir. But I warn you, it won't be easy."
Dean: "I have no doubt about that. But I have faith in you, Dr. Yoon. Make it work."
Dr. Yoon nods, determined, and heads back to Jonghyun's room.
Jonghyun: "Ah, Dr. Yoon! My favorite strict doctor! What's the plan, Your Highness?"
Dr. Yoon smirks: "Well, Jonghyun, it seems I'm in charge now. And I have a few tricks up my sleeve to keep you in line."
Jonghyun grins: "Ooh, I'm shaking in my boots. Bring it on, Doctor!"
Dr. Yoon smiles, knowing she has her work cut out for her. But she's ready for the challenge.
