"This is absurd." Emma said and angrily removed the white transparent veil that was not only covering her head halfway, but also holding her hair.
"Totally!" She added with an unbelieving scoff and threw the veil on the floor. With that, her hair was let loose, cascading onto her shoulders.
"Very well. You have just made your decision." Henry said, glaring at her angrily.
"I still thought you would be understanding but you have decided to be stubborn till the end. You chose to hold onto anger instead of saving the family business. It is regrettable, Emma and I am so disappointed in you." Margaret said to her daughter, shaking her head.
Emma huffed in annoyance and she wanted to leave the hall but before she could, she heard her parents telling the priest to give them some minutes to prepare the bride.
"This is so unbelievable." Emma said to herself and stormed out of the hall. She was expecting David to run after her, to at least beg for forgiveness or say anything remorseful, but unfortunately that didn't happen.
"Is this really my reality now?" She wondered sadly as she walked back into her hotel room.
She was lost. She looked around the room and felt so sick.
"David and I were so in love ... what happened?" She wondered aloud.
"I thought we have it everything right ..." She stated and shook her head in disbelief as she started remembering how beautiful their relationship had been.
They had the perfect relationship that some people even envied. David was so crazy about her and he would always tell her how he couldn't do without her in his life.
"My life will be meaningless without you, babe. I love you. Too much." He had told her countless times and she had blushed, believing that he was indeed her forever.
So, seeing how the man had gone to choose her sister over her was so appalling. It was too much for her to believe. Too overwhelming.
"He used to adore me. He used to promise me heaven on earth and for the period we dated, he actually gave me just that. I wonder what changed everything." She soliloquized.
"But even if David decided to act like that on all of a sudden, how about my parents? When did cheating becomes that glorified? When and how did it become such a trivial issue?" She threw the questions at the empty room and scoffed in disbelief.
"How could Vickky do that to me? My own sister that I shared such a strong bond with? How do I handle this betrayal... How?" She cried out and finally let her tears flow. She had been holding in the tears since she caught the cheating duo.
She had wanted to let go and bawl but couldn't because she was trying to act like she was strong.
"Why is this happening to me?" She sobbed. She was still sobbing when the door swung open and Rachel, her best friend entered the room.
"Oh, you are here." Emma exclaimed. She knew there arrived the only best person that could empathize with her and console her.
"Yeah..." Rachel replied to her without sparing her a glance. She was rummaging through her bag. The room was for the two of them since Rachel was her best lady.
"Rachel, can you believe what happened? Vickky went to my..." Emma was trying to vent but her friend cut her short before she could finish.
"Yeah, I saw the video." Rachel replied nonchalantly. Emma stayed quiet and looked at her friend in shock. Something seemed off.
The Rachel she knew as her best friend wouldn't be talking nonchalantly like that.
"Oh, right. I saw you amidst the crowd. Sitting beside Victoria..." Emma trailed off as she remembered actually seeing her friend at that terrible moment she needed her the most. From the corner of her eye, she could see her friend holding her sister's hand as if she was comforting her while the video played.
"What..." Emma wanted to ask why she had held Victoria's hand instead of being at her side as her best friend but Rachel interrupted her.
"Do you happen to know where my mascara is?" Rachel asked her and that was when she actually looked at Emma since she entered the room.
"Your what?" Emma blurted out. She actually heard what Rachel had said but couldn't believe she heard it right. Rachel exhaled sharply and kept looking around the area her bag was.
"My mascara, Emma. I need it right now. I need to retouch my makeup before the programme starts." Rachel informed her a very stunned Emma.
"You are attending the ceremony?" Emma asked in utter shock.
"Of course. I am the best lady... " Rachel trailed off, holding Emma's gaze and the former looked rather calm.
"You want to be the best lady of my sister?" Emma asked still in shock. Rachel nodded casually.
The realization dawned on Emma and she knew she had just been abandoned by everybody. Her heartbreak intensified.
"What is happening to me? Why is everyone deserting me?" Emma wondered aloud and hung her head lowly.
"You brought that upon yourself, Emma." Rachel replied to her.
"What do you mean?" Emma muttered solemnly.
"If you haven't played that video in the public, none of this would happen. You should have just go ahead with the wedding." Rachel said.
"No, you didn't just say that, Rachel." Emma shook her head in disbelief.
"Yes, I did." Rachel maintained and rolled her eyes. Then she turned to leave the room.
"You have lived a perfect, beautiful life since birth, yet you still want a perfect marriage, and couldn't just overlook something as simple as cheating. Get off the high horse you are riding, girl. Lots of women are out there wanting to gain access into Montgomery's family that you just tossed away." Rachel said loud enough for Emma to hear even though she was at the door.
"No..." Emma collapsed.
