A voice echoed from the other side of the street. "What do you think you're doing, lad?"
Damian turned sharply, startled by the familiar tone. His gaze landed on Marduk, who was striding toward him, his face set in a hard, serious expression. Damian fumbled for words, caught off guard by Marduk's sudden appearance.
"I... I was just... It's nothing," Damian stammered, his voice faltering.
Marduk's sharp eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Nothing, huh? You looked like you were about to make another one of those impulsive decisions." He stopped in front of Damian, crossing his arms. "Where were you?! "
"I was at the temple," Damian replied, trying to sound nonchalant, though he knew Marduk wouldn't be easily fooled.
Marduk's brow furrowed for a moment, then he sighed. "Never mind. Let's go. Duke Sebastien is waiting for us."
Damian blinked in confusion. "The Duke?"
