Chereads / Multiverse: Shirou Yamanaka / Chapter 4 - Plans of the Unknown

Chapter 4 - Plans of the Unknown

•So, nobody voted, so I'm just going to do what I originally planned and do MCU Avengers 1.•

Jumping probably wasn't a good idea! First, Shirou lands funny, then he trips and falls in the middle of a river and is washed away.

Shirou's POV:

"Oh, I might have fallen," I thought as I floundered around in the river. "You would think that a Chunin with Elite Jonin strength, who was secretly an ANBU Captain, could avoid making such a mistake."

"Well, I better pull myself out before I get too far from where I arrived."

**POV End:**

Using the water-walking technique, Shirou pulls himself out of the river and begins to travel back up it. Eventually, Shirou arrives at a tree that has somehow twisted itself into a circular gate. As he approaches, the eye of Iron Yggdrasil forms. The eye focuses on Shirou: "Hey, so normally when I'm more proficient with this ability, we can open this portal anywhere you want, but because I don't have that proficiency, it's stuck here and will stay open."

"So that means anyone can enter the realm if you don't do anything to hide the gate." Shirou looked around, took some brush, and made a brush pile. The problem is that it looks pretty unnatural, so he removes the brush, projects some ceiling equipment, and creates a barrier to make the area around the gate look like a normal tree. Sure, it wouldn't stop anyone from just walking through it, but it was much less likely that anyone would walk toward the normal tree than the mystical gate.

Meanwhile, POV ???

"So you want to turn this boy and the Steel Tree's realm into what is basically a lost and found?" a being made of the universe stated in a questioning tone. "Well, if you must know, TOAA, it's more of a lost and replaced or a lost and lost situation. Anyway, as we both know, sometimes reality has gaps, and sometimes these gaps can change fate in ways that beings like us don't like. So, sometimes beings like ourselves—I'm not pointing any fingers—remove the rogue element. I mean, they can't all be like you and let the world play out its destruction." TOAA snorted in amusement before stating in a flat tone, "Like you said earlier, I don't mind the gaps; in fact, I quite enjoy them. So tell me, @&$@, why are you telling me this?" The shapeless being seemed to give an amused grin. "You remember all those random worlds that keep going rogue? The ones where no matter what you do, the world plot is always going crazy? Well, I finally figured out why it happens!"

This piqued TOAA's interest; for the last 20 billion years, this had been a constant headache for them and beings like them. "Continue," the multiverse lord of Marvel uttered.

"Well, how do I explain this... oh, I know! So, sorcerers in your worlds need to make a contract with otherworldly beings to use stronger magic, but contracts always come with a price. What if there was a simpler way to gain power with no apparent price? At least, it seems there is no price." The two beings watched as two stars exploded in the distance. @&$@ continued, "As far as the soul signing the contract is aware, there is no price, or they have already paid it. There are hundreds of random fake reasons, from Karma values to 'I accidentally killed you, and you can't be revived in your original world.' The true price for these powers is that they essentially inject a needle administering poison into a world, so it can be slowly corrupted and turned into a source of power for the being who offers the contract."

TOAA took a moment to think before asking, "Who are these beings, and what do they want?" @&$@ smiled and responded in a cheerful voice, "They're really not a unified group, so I call them ROBs (Random Oblivion Beings). From what I can tell, they just want to replace us."

TOAA nodded. "So your plan is to turn the lost and discarded residents into an army to scavenge and destroy the realities they have taken." The other unidentifiable being shook his head. "I'm merely suppressing their forces with which they can do this. I didn't get to say it earlier, but most beings like ourselves, instead of fundamentally changing reality to fix what happened during the gaps, just remove the rogue elements and throw them into the void, becoming soul fragments. These fragments will eventually be captured and have their entire memory altered to become the perfect soldiers for their corruptive war."

"So, instead of wasting our time trying to reclaim these universes, we take away their supplies. When they're left with no choice but to transfer their agents already in the field, we can guide them to other ROBs' worlds to instigate possible wars, allowing us to keep them in check. They outnumber us, thousands to one, so rather than spend eternity trying to eliminate them, we can manage them."

TOAA nodded in agreement. "I support your plan. I have a few other friends with their own multiverses who would likely be interested in this. I will contact them."

@&$@ smiled, thinking, "Finally! Not only can I put a stop to these annoying ROBs and their overwhelming systems, but the lost can finally be found."

The two bid farewell and set off to continue their work.

•Authors note: hi! this chapter was written recently, but the first half was written at a similar time to the first couple chapters, I got writer block during the beginning, so it's a little weird sorry. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the talk between. TOAA and @&$@ I'm sure they enjoyed your listening :) •
