His head ached like the devil.
Someone had hit him from behind, or used vampire sorcery to incapacitate him. To make matters worse, when he tried to lift his arms, he felt shackles dig into his flesh.
Elder Gods, NO.
Light stabbed at his eyes and he re-focused. He was in the dungeon, chained to the wall.
He blew silver hair out of his face. Oh no. Oh h*ll no. He'd been changed back to himself.
Taking stock of his predicament, he realized he was the only occupant of the cell. Where was Ariana? He shouted, "ARIANA!"
Nothing. Silence. He tried to feel her through the bond, and got only a muted wave of emotion. Either she was unconscious, too, or her mind was being shielded from him in some way. Luc could achieve that.
"Anyone?"
The lock clicked open, and Luc strolled in, the conquering hero, lord of his domain, the Crown Prince of Merak. The sovereign of despair
