King Aleksandr and Queen Katia stood in dignified silence and elegance as Luc and Irina escorted the chained Dimitri and Ariana towards them.
"I knew you wouldn't let us down," his father said.
Luc shoved Dimitri down to a kneeling position while Irina pushed the human onto her knees. "Kneel before your king and queen," Luc ordered.
Behind him, Mireille and Sebastian also knelt, as did Maarah and the others.
King Aleksandr stared down at his traitor son. "Dimitri, this brings me no joy to see you this way. I can only assume that this human somehow blackmailed you, or cursed you, or has some other hold on you."
"She is my wife," Dimitri said in a defiant voice. "I love her."
A gasp from Queen Katia.
"Do with me as you will, but spare her," Dimitri continued, his shackled hands raised to implore his parents.
