Irina POV
Five days of travel, several more locations searched, and nothing to show for it.
In Ardres by a misty lake, Irina took the cafe au lait offered by Luc, but didn't quite meet his eyes. She hadn't forgiven him for killing Sophia DiGeorgio.
"Irina. Don't you think it's time we discussed this?"
She sipped the hot coffee because it was a bitterly cold day. "Why? What is there to discuss?"
He pulled the collar of his warm silvery grey coat up against the cold. "Try and understand."
"You killed one of the Blood, Luc."
"As if it's the first time a vampire of the Blood harmed another," he scoffed. "My brother--"
Her eyes burned with purpose. "LUC. Your brother and you have grievances against each other. Him because he's always resented you, and you because of how he's betrayed the family and your kingdom."
