Luc had found them.
Elina, a little out of breath for a vampire, faced them grimly. "I stood in the background with the other courtiers so your brother and Irina didn't notice me."
Ariana paled, and Sally and Bill supported her, aware of her condition.
Leave it to his brother to spike the joyful news. How the h*ll had Luc found them? Did he have a spy inside Vampsailles? Or was it just a lucky guess?
"We should leave," Sally said urgently.
"We can't," Ariana said, looking miserable. "We made a promise--"
"That promise is not worth your life or your child's life," Bill argued.
Ariana's turquoise eyes blazed. "I'm tired of running! Don't you get it? We need to keep this promise so that my child can be born safely. A few months from now, I'm not going to give birth while still fearing that I'm going to be sacrificed along with my baby."
