Ariana POV
All throughout dinner, Ariana felt restless. She could barely eat, even though the food was fabulous. She wondered if her disguise would slip. Would she say something that would give her away?
Dimitri had been lost in thought all during the walk to dinner, but he smiled and was polite and charming while they ate. She sensed emotions churning through the bond, mostly angry and vengeful.
He was good at containing those feelings. So was she. But it wasn't easy when Luc and Irina acted as if they didn't have a care in the world.
"This dinner is delicious," Irina said. "I love medium rare steak. Mireille? Don't you like yours?"
She picked at the steak. She preferred hers medium well, and not so much blood. Smiling, she ate it, choking it down. "Wonderful," she proclaimed.
Luc leered at Dimitri. "It seems you share your husband's good appetite. He always enjoys a medium rare steak, isn't that right, Sebastian?"
