Luc POV
There were three things Luc would change when he became king, three things his parents did that he thought were old and outdated.
1. Not punishing an ally who didn't respect the vampire code.
2. Coddling any member of the family that showed weakness and forgot what vampires were supposed to be.
3. Excessive loyalty to one's servants--they could all easily be replaced. Or, in the case of traitorous ones like Louis, killed, slowly and excruciatingly. Which Louis would be when Luc found him..
The French vampire kingdom showed all of these weaknesses, even wore them on their sleeves. They hid his rebel brother. Violette and Lothair indulged each other's faults. And now they looked unhappy at having their servants questioned.
No wonder Vampsailles looked like a pretty, brittle, useless palace. A trinket hidden beneath Paris, which was fitting. The De Sang family knelt at the humans' feet!
