Chapter 64 - Welcome to My World [64]

Clark felt the weight of the moment as he finally stepped back from Diana's embrace. The battlefield around them was silent—an eerie, loaded silence. The last traces of war seemed to have dissipated, yet a lingering unease remained in Clark's chest. He knew his mission there was complete, but something deeper called him elsewhere—his home, his true reality.

Diana observed him, her expression of relief and gratitude slowly shifting to concern as she noticed the tension on Clark's face. She stepped closer, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"What is it, Clark? Is something still troubling you?" Diana asked softly.

Clark looked at her, his eyes heavy with emotion. He knew he had to tell her the truth, but it wasn't easy. The bond he had developed with Diana was profound, but his reality was pulling him back.

"Diana," he began, his voice firm but tinged with sadness, "I don't belong to this world. When I came here, I used a power that allows me to travel between dimensions. The war here is over, and I think it's time for me to return to my world."

Diana stood silently for a moment, processing what Clark had just said. She studied him intently, searching for a deeper explanation behind his words. When she finally spoke, her voice was calm yet filled with emotion.

"Your world? And what will you do there, Clark? Another war to fight? Another enemy to defeat?"

Clark gave a faint smile, though it carried a note of melancholy. "Not exactly, Diana. My world has its own challenges, but it's not just about fighting. It's about who I am and what I need to protect. Smallville, my family, the people who rely on me… that's where I belong."

Diana stepped closer, her eyes fixed on his. "And what happens to us, Clark? Are you just going to leave me here?"

Clark hesitated, his heart aching at the thought of leaving her. He took a deep breath, gathering the courage to ask the question that had been lingering in his mind.

"Diana, I don't want to leave you. I want you to come with me. My world could benefit from someone like you—your strength, your courage, your wisdom. They need you. I need you."

Diana blinked, surprised. His words struck deeply. The idea of leaving her world was something she had never considered, but now, standing before Clark, the prospect didn't seem so absurd. She crossed her arms, thoughtful, before finally speaking.

"If I go with you, what awaits me there? What would my life be like in your world, Clark?"

Clark smiled softly, his voice filled with hope. "I can't promise it will be easy. My world has its own problems, but it's a place where I believe you can make a difference. And, more importantly, you wouldn't be alone. I'd be by your side."

Diana pondered for a long moment. She looked around at the empty trenches and the devastated horizon—a reminder of the world she knew. Then her gaze returned to Clark, the man who had entered her life unexpectedly but now meant so much.

"If I go," she said with a subtle smile, "you'll show me more than just fights, right? I want to see what makes your world a place you want to return to."

Clark nodded, his expression lighting up. "I promise, Diana. I'll show you everything."

She extended her hand, and Clark grasped it firmly. "Then let's go, Clark. Show me your world."

Clark took a deep breath and, without hesitation, lifted her into his arms. Diana raised an eyebrow, surprised by the sudden movement, but kept a faintly curious smile as he prepared to activate the Speed Force.

WHOOSH!

Lightning enveloped Clark as he began to run, the ground beneath his feet blurring into indistinction. The world around them transformed into a kaleidoscope of lights and distorted colors, as if time and space were bending around them. Diana, in his arms, watched the spectacle with wide eyes, captivated by the sight.

"Clark! What is this? It's… surreal!" Diana exclaimed, her voice full of awe as her gaze captured the sparks and lightning surrounding them.

Clark stayed focused ahead but smiled at her reaction. "This is the Speed Force, Diana. We're moving beyond conventional time and space. Just hold on tight."

CRACKLE!

The lightning surrounding Clark danced around them, emitting electric sounds as he accelerated. The wind roared in their ears, but Clark seemed perfectly at ease, his posture relaxed despite the intensity of the moment. Diana, however, wasn't scared—she trusted him completely.

"This is incredible, Clark. I never imagined something like this was possible," Diana said, her voice filled with wonder as she took in every detail of the phenomenon around them.

Clark glanced briefly at her, his smile widening. "There's so much more for you to discover, Diana. This is just the beginning."

The speed increased further, and the environment around them became completely abstract, as if they were traveling through the very fabric of the universe. Diana felt a lightness in her body, as if she were floating amidst pure energy. Time seemed to lose all meaning.

Finally, Clark began to slow down, the lightning around them gradually diminishing until it disappeared. They emerged from the Speed Force into a tranquil field, bathed in soft sunlight. Diana looked around, amazed at the abrupt change in scenery.

"This is where it all begins, Diana," Clark said, gently setting her down. He gestured to the landscape before them—a small town surrounded by green fields and distant mountains. "Welcome to my world. Welcome to Smallville."

Diana smiled, taking in the serenity of the place. "Clark, I've never seen anything like this. It feels so… peaceful."

Clark nodded, his eyes fixed on the horizon. "This is my home, Diana. And now, it's our starting point. There's so much to explore and so much to build together."

Clark and Diana walked through an open field, the scent of wildflowers filling the air. He knew there was much to explain before introducing her to Martha and Jonathan Kent, his adoptive parents. He stopped abruptly, turning to her with a serious expression.

"Before we meet my family, Diana, there are things you need to understand about this world."

Diana raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What exactly do I need to know, Clark?"

Clark extended his hand, gently touching Diana's temple. "I can share what you need to know directly in your mind. It'll be faster and more accurate than trying to explain everything. Trust me."

Diana hesitated for a brief moment but nodded. "Do it. I want to understand."

Clark closed his eyes, and a mental connection was established. In seconds, he transmitted a torrent of information to Diana: the story of his life in Smallville, the context of the human world in 2002, the challenges he had faced, and the cultural and social nuances of that time. He also included details about his species, the Kryptonians, and why he was the last of his kind.

When he finished, Clark stepped back, carefully observing Diana as she processed what she had received. Her eyes were wide, and a look of understanding slowly formed on her face.

"So… you need other women to ensure your species continues?" Diana asked, her voice calm but filled with curiosity. "And they would be like sisters to me, like in Themyscira?"

Clark hesitated, surprised by the clarity of her question. "Yes, Diana. It's a way to ensure my species doesn't disappear completely. But I would never force anything. Everything would be based on respect and choice."

Diana crossed her arms, reflecting on what she had just learned. Finally, she smiled faintly. "If that's the case, Clark, I might consider it. But I want to meet these other women. And above all, I want to see how you handle it."

Clark laughed softly, relieved by Diana's reaction. "You're incredible, you know that?"

Diana shrugged, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I know. Now, let's meet your family. I want to see how they raised someone like you."
