Chapter 72 - Ashen hair (2)

"How about this, will you come with me, and together we can capture the executor?" I said sincerely.

Somehow she knew a lot about this particular game and also the map of this park, in addition to her strength, she was also smart and disciplined. It wouldn't hurt to make her tag along.

She pondered for a while before saying "Sure, but remember this, it is not like I know everything, the event has changed and I no longer can predict it accurately due to the anomaly."

What is she talking about? Anamoly? Event has changed? I narrowed my eyes and frowned, and asked "What do you mean?"

Hyun Hee stared at me for a moment until she made an expression as if she realized something "I see so you don't remember anything, no wonder you have been making this confusing expression ." She continued with a straight face and said with an unwary voice " Let's get straight to the point, I am a regressor."

There were no words coming from my mouth, I looked at her dazedly, many days ago I wouldn't have believed in such things as regressors but since the entire city, perhaps the entire world system crumbled and a surreal survival game was being set up everywhere for everyone to participate, regressor wouldn't sound impossible in this setting as well.

I shifted my attention from Hyun Hee to my friends, who looked at me with confusion. They hadn't heard my conversation with her from far away, otherwise, they would have made ridiculous expressions.

I simply responded, "Look, I can't immediately believe your words, but right now I need your help and..."

She cut off my sentence by shaking her head and raised her voice, "I will help you this time, but you must follow my lead and believe that everything is possible. Even the existence of reincarnators, isekai players, and demon lords. This is the only way we can break the cycle and know who we're dealing with in the future."

Not only were there regressors, but there were also reincarnators! She was remarkably decisive for a regressor. If this were a novel, it would be too easy for a regressor to introduce herself so openly, but this was real life. She must have her reasons, and I shouldn't question her just yet.

I nodded in agreement, and we returned to where everyone was patiently waiting, staring at me and Hyun Hee with puzzlement at how I managed to convince her to change her mind. She stood firmly and asserted, "From now on, if you want to survive, you must listen to me. I will help you clear this game in one day."

Everyone's jaws dropped in surprise. It was unexpected for someone who had just appeared to suddenly start bossing others around. It made sense for them to have this expression.

"What's going on with her?" Shan asked.

"She said she's a regressor, so we might as well believe her," I responded.

Everyone let out a nervous laugh, unsure if I was telling the truth or not.

Fortunately, Geralt spoke up to support Hyun Hee. "I think Hyun Hee is strong enough to lead everyone. She might be a real regressor. Nowadays, youngsters have more experience than an old guy like me, so it's likely..."

I was satisfied until he added, "But I will go a different path. My purpose is to find Sycth, not to clear the game." Everyone looked at him with confusion, some probably thinking he was just a stubborn old man.

"Since we still don't know Sycth's whereabouts, it would be better to stick together," I said.

Fortunately, Hyun Hee raised her voice on this matter. "I will help you find the homeroom teacher. He might know something about this stupid game that didn't exist in the previous world line."

Geralt sighed and glanced at me. "Alright, if I'm gone, no one will be there to protect you, kid." One person, in particular, was grinning when she heard that he had changed his mind - Yuffie.

Currently, we were closely following Hyun Hee as she headed north. The scenery changed from common bushes and trees to a river stream filled with pebbles, with willows aligned as far as the eye could see. The fog had completely covered this part of the park, giving it a mysterious atmosphere.

Most people would call this a park, but to me, the scale of it was much bigger than I initially imagined. It could very well be called a jungle on its own.

After crossing the river, we walked for a few minutes before coming across a group of five people ahead of us. They carried knives and laser guns, and Hyun Hee immediately signaled for us to halt and hide behind a tree to observe.

The group consisted of two women and three middle-aged men. At that moment, one of the middle-aged men, dressed in a brown sweater, seemed irritated.

"This bastard killed our co-worker and forced us to follow him... Why should we work for him?" the man in the brown sweater yelled in rage.

The other woman, dressed neatly, stepped forward and said to him, "He can use magic. What else can we do?"

They quieted down when a strong and assertive woman's voice spoke up. "Let's pretend to work for him for now."

The woman in the white dress seemed to be their leader. Magic! So Hyun Hee hadn't made up the story after all. More importantly, these people might have been forced to work for the executor. Could the executor just be an average survivor like us?

I exchanged a glance with Hyun Hee, and without a single word, she knew what I was about to say. The corner of her lip lifted with happiness, like a predator that had finally found its prey.

Geralt spoke in a voice barely above a whisper, "Let's capture them for interrogation."

The moment the word "interrogation" came out of his mouth, everyone looked at him with a traumatized expression, except for Hyun Hee, who didn't understand why we had that reaction.

Geralt looked at everyone before whispering, "Don't worry, I won't torture them."

Everyone nodded and dispersed. Meanwhile, I slowly crouched behind a huge rock. Our plan was to surround them and knock them out one by one.

The group of people was carelessly roaming the area without sticking together. Hyun Hee seized this opportunity and dashed forward. Her movements were like that of a shadow as she silently knocked out one man from behind.

There was no sound or struggle. The man collapsed unconscious. Then Hyun Hee sprinted to attack another person in front of the unconscious man. She covered his mouth from behind and used her elbows to strike the center of his head, causing him to immediately fall down without much resistance.

It suddenly dawned on me that Hyun Hee could be a trained agent, a child prodigy selected to secretly work for the world government since childhood. Rumors said that they had modified their entire body to adapt to extreme combat situations. This was the only explanation for how Hyun Hee could perform such inhuman feats and martial arts!

Three people remained, but one woman seemed to sense that something was off. She quickly turned around and saw her friends lying on the ground. She was about to scream, but I absurdly ran over and covered her mouth with my hand. I calmly told her as she struggled in my arms, "Be quiet. We don't want to hurt you."

She stopped struggling and responded, "What do you want?"

"I want to know where the executor is. We need to kill him to stop this game," I calmly told her.

She frowned and spoke with an irate voice, "You should have just come out and asked nicely. We want to kill him too."

This was such an unexpected turn of events... and Hyun Hee had already knocked out her friends!
