Trent, frowning, could sense that something bad was about to happen. His instincts kicked in, and he tried to defuse the situation. "Hey, dude! Why don't you just take me and let Caius go?"
The thug laughed, amused. "Oh? So you're volunteering to take his place, huh? That's sweet." He glanced at his buddies, who were holding Caius tightly by the arms. "What do you think Guys? Should we switch?"
One of the men holding Caius snickered. "Nah, boss. Why not keep both? Double the fun."
Trent's jaw tightened. "I'm serious. Let him go and take me."
The leader of the thugs stepped closer to Trent, raising his knife to point it at him. "You're serious, huh? You think you can save him that easily? I don't think so."
He circled Caius slowly, still toying with the knife. "I like him. He's got that scared look in his eyes. Makes this more fun."
