Abi's eyes narrowed once more. She got up from her bed and opened the door. It was a maid who had been knocking on her door.
"Your mother is here with your younger sister, Miss Abi," the maid informed her.
"Who?" Abi ran out of her room and down the stairs. Butler Lee frowned when he saw her run. He cleared his throat and coughed twice when she was on the stairs.
"Mother!! Ava!" Abi hugged them tightly. Her mother frowned at her immediately and inspected her carefully.
"Be careful, Abi! You're not a little kid anymore," her mother scolded.
"How are you doing, Mom? It was so late to call last night. You were asleep all day!" Abi cried.
"I'm here now," Whitney hugged her daughter lightly. "What are you wearing?"
"Come on, Mom. She feels like wearing that. Besides, she looks good in the purple gown," Ava laughed and dropped a white basket on the floor.
"My puppy," Abi quickly let her out. The puppy ran around the house, and a maid caught it immediately.
"I don't think the master would like to see a pet here, Miss Abi," the maid whispered to her and returned the pet to its basket.
"Screw your master!" Abi yelled in her mind.
Abi was actually wearing a long T-shirt. Ava must have mistaken the shirt for a gown. Abi could only hiss as she took her mother around the house.
"This mansion is so wide," Whitney was amazed, keeping her gaze around.
"This is my room," Abi smiled.
"I miss this bed," Ava jumped on the bed happily.
"So, how is he to you?" Whitney asked and looked at her daughter carefully. She began to inspect her from head to toe.
"He's...a good husband," Abi smiled warmly.
"Is he?" Ava smirked. "I heard he's a ruthless man who doesn't care about you. Michael told me he has a fiancée, but they've broken up recently. Isn't he married?!"
"Reduce your voice, Ava," Abi warned.
"How sure is your source?"
"It's Michael, sister," Ava blushed.
"I asked other girls too and searched for the latest news online. Funny enough, your husband has been trending for three days straight. He caused a storm on social media."
"Oh," Abi voiced. She's sure he had told her that he was preparing his wedding plans with his fiancée. She heard it from the horse's mouth, so she would believe the bastard.
...
Jessica's hands searched for her phone, which was ringing on the bed. She groaned in annoyance, sat up, and got the phone. The sleep disappeared from her eyes immediately when she realized it was Junho.
"Good morning, my love," he said cheerfully.
Jessica moved the phone from her head and opened her eyes widely to see the caller ID.
"He's the one," she thought, with a weird expression on her face.
"What's up? Why didn't you reply to my greetings?" he asked.
"I think you made a silly mistake, Junho. This is Jessica, your silly friend," Jessica laughed, correcting him.
"Okay, I know you're silly, but you're not my friend anymore," he commented.
"What do you mean? Are you drunk?" Jessica furrowed her brows.
"Are you?" Junho asked back.
"Ah! I know what's up with you. You have travel sickness," she laughed.
"Don't you remember what happened between us last night?" Junho asked.
Jessica began to panic when she heard that. She began to breathe faster and felt hot.
"Are me and Abi in the same shoes right now?" Jessica couldn't help but think.
"We had fun last night, Jessica. You told me that you had feelings for me too," Junho went on.
"I...I was drunk when I said that, Junho. You shouldn't believe the words of a drunk woman," Jessica laughed nervously.
"I don't think you were that drunk, Jessica. Wait, don't you like me too?" Junho asked softly.
"You should be on a plane to Korea very soon. What are you still doing in the country?" Jessica asked.
"I wanted to hear your response. I asked you to be my girlfriend yesterday, and you agreed, Jessica. You told me you would be my girlfriend," Junho spoke.
Jessica could tell he wasn't happy.
"Ralph was your ex-boyfriend, Jes. I have no right to tell you not to talk to him yesterday. You were talking to him for almost an hour. Of course, I was jealous, but that didn't make my feelings for you complicated. If you think it's best that we ignore our feelings and let it die, then I'll do that if it will make you happy. I would have loved you to see me off, but that sounds like a bad idea," Junho explained.
Jessica wanted to speak, but she was speechless. She didn't know what to say or do. She didn't know how to tell him that she had been lying from the very beginning. How was she going to tell him that she had lied about her feelings for him?
How was she going to tell him that she loved him too? How was she going to tell him that she wasn't drunk like she had claimed, and she had accepted his proposal when she was sober? Would he go to his country without letting her see him for the last time?
Jessica took the phone away from her ear when she realized that he had hung up. Tears began to roll down her cheeks. She facepalmed her face and began to sob.
Abi's call came in immediately. "So, where are you now?! Your boyfriend would soon leave!!"
Jessica cried harder when she heard Abi's words. "Why are you crying? Did he break up with you?" Abi switched to a video call immediately.
Jessica picked up and cleaned her tears. She broke down in tears again.
"I told him that I don't like him, Abi," Jessica cried.
"Why would you say that?" Abi cried.
"Are you okay, Jessica?"
"No, Abi! I'm not okay," Jessica cried. "I have less than a year to live, so how am I supposed to be okay? I've been battling with the hole in my heart for years. I feel weak all the time and try my best to be strong, but I just can't—I can't help it! I want to be with Junho so bad, but I can't allow him to be sad because he has fallen for me. What would happen to him when I die?"
"You're not going to die! Why are you just telling me this?" Abi began to cry.
"I wasn't going to tell you because this was what I was avoiding. You're a crybaby, Abigail," Jessica replied.
"I'm going to kill you when I set my eyes on you, fowl! Junho sounded so happy when he told me that you were his girlfriend last night. I knew he had waited for a day like that for years. He's the perfect guy you've always wanted, Jessica. I'd advise you to chase happiness when you've got the strength because weakness won't defeat sadness," Abi said.
Abi blinked when Jessica began to laugh hard.
"What's wrong? You were joking?"
"Of course not. You sounded so serious that I imagined you being a motivational speaker," Jessica laughed.
"Shut up!" Abi laughed.
"Clean your freaking tears and be on your way to get your Prince Charming! Also, make sure you wear something nice," Abi told her and hung up.
Meanwhile, Junho dragged his suitcase and continued looking back. He wanted to believe that Jessica was pulling his legs earlier. He wanted to believe that she had stuck to her words last night about having feelings for him too.
He sighed and put his phone in his bag. He felt that he gave Abi false hope about the relationship. Abi has been rooting for both of them for a long time. She was the one who gave him ideas for a proposal. She was the one who told him to take Jessica on a date to ask her to be his girlfriend.
He sighed and began to stroll with his luggage. His foot got rooted to the ground when he heard his name from that girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
She was in pajamas and a slip-on. Her hair was roughly brushed, and it looked like she just woke up from her sleep. She still looked pretty to him.
"Babe," she yelled in Korean and ran to him.
Junho had to let go of his luggage and catch her in his arms.
"Don't leave me. I want to be with you too," she cried and placed her lips on his without warning.
