KINGSLEY
The moment my mate woke up, I knew he was not okay.
Things weren't right because he was scared of me and he froze when I even moved an inch. There is only one explanation for such a strong reaction and that is abuse. I could be overthinking, but my best friend's mate had such reactions too, and after being abused for years.
I didn't know what to do, so when I left leaving him scared and alone, it killed me and went against everything. My wolf Ron wanted me to stay with him and protect him but I reminded him that we have to be gentle to our mate, as he was sensitive. That it would take time for him to even allow us near him, let alone recognize us as his mate.
I went and found the pack nurse Irene to check if he was okay physically. I knew that there wasn't anywhere I was letting him go, and I needed to make sure he wouldn't have any complications. Doesn't matter if I healed him yesterday, I had to be sure he was completely fine.
When I came back and found him cowering at the other side of the room, trembling, I wanted to break something. I wanted to kill whoever made him like that and make sure they were alive as I fed them their insides. Ron was howling and erratic, wanting to go back to Michigan and seek answers.
But our mate was here and he needed our gentleness and care. So I became what he needed the most.
Now, sitting next to him is making me so aware of how fragile he is. He is so beautiful, looks so pure and I immediately want to shield him from the harshness of the world.
We will do it. He is now with us.
I listen to his lungs, as he breathes in and out, acutely aware of how he is staring at me. If I look at him, I will lose all the control I have over Ron and touch him. Physical touch and even being near him seem stressful to him, so I am going to avoid any rashness.
"All good," I tell him as I put the stethoscope away. I don't dare move, because his sweet scent, dark chocolate is so intoxicating I start sporting a boner. I shift, clearing my throat, and take a pillow and place it on my lap.
"You don't have to hide it, I think I understand why I am here," he finally speaks and I turn to him. His voice is addictive, I want him to talk and tell me everything. I will listen to him all my life and never tire.
"I um, I am just having a rough day," I say as I adjust the pillow on my lap. As an alpha, I seem to be fumbling my words and not know how to act in front of my mate.
"I can take care of it," he says and then takes the pillow away from me. When he palms my hard on through the clothes I curse out and lose all train of thoughts.
"What are you doing?" I whisper as I close my eyes, unable to resist his touch.
"You bought me for satisfaction. I am satisfying you."
He has magic hands, I –
What?
Jumping out of bed, I look at him confused. "What did you say?"
He looks like he has done something wrong and quickly kneels in front of me, head bowed. "I am sorry if I have upset you."
He thinks I bought him? As in bought him to serve me? What the fuck?
"No!" I growl, Ron, coming to the surface. That makes him flinch and I have to pace to be able to control the raging emotions coursing through me.
"I didn't buy you nor are you here to satisfy my needs. I don't even know your name!" Ron is still in the front seat and I have to remind him that our mate is sensitive, to let me take control.
"My name is Rain LaRue."
Rain. Such a beautiful name. It suits him so perfectly.
Kneeling in front of him, I dare take his hand and he allows me. "Rain, I am Liam Kingsely. The alpha of Phoenix pack. We are in New York, as this is my home. I did not buy you, nor are you here to serve me. You are my mate. Rain, the moon goddess gifted you to me."
"I don't understand. You must be wrong. I can never be your mate," Rain shakes his head, pulling away.
The action and the rejection hit me hard in my chest, and I started to panic.
"Why?"
His blue eyes connect with mine and for the first time, I see how scared he is. "Because you are an alpha. I am a wolfless omega and a man."
I know all that, and I will fucking kill anyone who would dare reject him as my Luna and mate.
"I have been looking for you my whole life," I whisper as I take his hand. I feel the electricity when our hands touch. "Do you not feel what I say to be true?"
He looks at our hands, biting his lower lip. The action alone makes me lightheaded, and I have to focus and not pin him down, mate, and claim him as mine right this second. Because my mate might not even want me sexually now, if ever.
"I- I do. I feel safe with you. But I am not worthy of you. I am not fit nor deserve you."
"You are more than worthy and fit for me. We deserve each other," I caress his cheek softly, keeping my touch ghostly. "Unless you don't think of me as your mate because I am a man?"
When his chees turn red, I feel the heaviness that was in my chest lift. When he finally looks at me, I lose it.
"I have no problem with you being a man."
