As I make my way to the basement, I steel my heart, convince myself to be strong, take him home, and leave him there. Not for me and him to escape. No, take him and leave him safely at home.
The easy thing would be to take rain and run away to protect him from my father. But then there is Scott, my mother, his mother … Reece.
We can't all run. I don't know if Rain loves it here, but I would assume that he wouldn't want to leave without Scott. The little boy just got settled after running away. Lana is finding him normalcy in any way she can before he gets sucked into his world, all that is waiting for him when he gets older.
My mother is finally getting some sort of normalcy in her life, too. She is getting better, getting her life back. Reece is finally breaking out of the heartbreak, and finding his footing. Rain is finally having a family… something I know he has always desired.
