The cold water woke Dr Chong with a start. He coughed and spluttered then squirmed when he realised that it was Aron standing over him.
"Mercy," he stuttered. "Please."
"Who are you?" Aron asked, getting straight to the point. He crouched in front of the prone doctor and waited for a response.
"Aron, I don't know…"
Aron dunked another bucket of water onto him. "What are you?" he asked.
Dr Chong froze.
They were in an open bit of space, on the rocks by the river. It was night but the moon was large and round and case a cool glow over the forest and over Dr Chong and his sorry state. Before him was Aron, now sitting on his bucket, with a bored expression on his face. It was just the two of them. No one else.
Dr Chong glared at Aron and tensed then suddenly his eyes widened. Aron pointed at his neck. "Superpowers not working?"
