Even after suffering fatal injuries, Evan still found a way to escape from the overpowered bitch, Slicer.
Fortunately, some mysterious energy distracted Slicer long enough for Evan to launch a desperate attack and retreat into a street teeming with people, saving her life.
The large cut across her body was bleeding profusely.
Her Moonfang energy tried to heal it, but the wound kept reopening.
Her energy was being canceled, which could only mean that celestial energy had been used in Slicer's last attack.
For an unfortunate soul who wasn't a celestial or couldn't wield celestial energy (light energy), it was nothing less than poison.
Simply put, only celestials could survive attacks imbued with celestial energy, as it was just another aura to them.
On her way, Evan stole a large coat to cover herself and used a piece of cloth to apply pressure to her wound, slowing the blood loss.
That was how she ended up in Azrael's room to ask for help.
She didn't understand why her wound wouldn't heal.
However, dizziness from excessive blood loss overwhelmed her, and she collapsed onto the marble floor of Azrael's room, her blood pooling on the ground.
The moment she hit the floor, she lost consciousness.
That was when Azrael pushed the door open and found her body, nearly drained of life.
"Evan."
Quickly, he lifted her and laid her on the soft bed, which was instantly stained with blood.
Stained sheets weren't the most important issue at the moment; her life was on the line.
Normally, Azrael wouldn't care for a dying human, but this was Evan—the former owner's one true love, someone he would have died for.
Although it had been one-sided… if he were still alive, that is.
To him, abandoning someone who could be useful to his army felt wrong.
'She was struck by celestial energy, which stopped her powers from healing her automatically,' he thought.
'Hmm, all that needs to be done is to extract and destroy the light energy surrounding the wound.'
Using his special godly vision, he saw a faint white mist clinging to Evan's flesh.
Each time her body tried to regenerate, the mist pushed it back, stopping the healing process.
Azrael rubbed his hands together.
Those hands, which seemed to tremble slightly, were used for ending lives, not saving them.
Dark energy ignited at his fingertips, burning like flames.
Gently, he laid them on Evan's wound.
'It seems to be working.'
To normal eyes, nothing appeared to be happening—just Azrael's hand glowing with dark energy as the wound slowly closed.
But to supernatural eyes, the dark energy enveloped the white mist like a fast-acting virus, consuming it entirely and leaving nothing behind.
He made sure the black aura didn't infest the wound.
If celestial energy had been bad enough to suppress Evan's natural healing, dark energy would have been far worse.
Dark energy had a peculiar weakness to light energy. The two couldn't mix—they neutralized each other, much like opposing magnets repelling one another.
However, if one energy vastly overpowered the other, the stronger force would dominate and negate the weaker one entirely.
It didn't take long for the wound to fully heal.
Immediately afterward, Evan's chest rose and fell—a clear indication she was breathing again.
'Good, she's alive. I can rest now.'
[All energy has been depleted!!]
'Yes, I know. I can already feel it.'
When Azrael finally became aware of his surroundings, he realized his hand was resting on something soft and squishy.
The sensation of liquid beneath his fingers sent a rush of adrenaline through him, but it quickly subsided.
He was too dead inside to feel embarrassed.
Looking down at his hand, he discovered it was resting on Evan's chest.
'Hmm, soft.'
He gave a slight squeeze, causing Evan to flinch even in her unconscious state.
Realizing his mistake, he quickly stood up from the bed and moved to the other side, lying down beside her.
"Well, that's the first time I've touched boobs and felt like I did something wrong. Oh well, I'd better rest," he muttered before shutting his eyes.
Women had never been on his agenda. Many had fallen for his bad-boy ways in the celestial realm, whether they were goddesses or spirit beings.
To him, they were objects to satisfy his hunger.
But today, a particular human had made him question that mindset.
"Weird, isn't it?"

The warm light of the golden sun penetrated the room, illuminating it after hours of darkness.
Evan's eyelids fluttered as her eyes slowly opened, only to shut immediately against the sun's rays.
She blinked a few times, adjusting her blurry vision.
She rested in a comfy bed; the smooth texture against her skin and the soft, feathery pillow beneath her head brought comfort to her entire being.
She slowly sat up but flinched in pain as a sharp pang struck her abdomen, disappearing almost instantly.
It was just a reflex from a certain muscle that hadn't been used for a while.
Evan quickly looked down, surprised to find her large wound gone.
She lifted her shirt and felt her skin a bit—the wound had disappeared as if it had never existed.
"What happened?"
Instantly, flashes of memories buried themselves in her head as she gradually recalled everything about yesterday's encounter with her opponent.
On her way here, after escaping Slicer and finding no one in Azrael's room but the marble floor swimming in a large pool of her own blood, the thought of dying crossed her mind.
The fear of not achieving anything before her demise had truly scared her.
'I have to become stronger' Evan thought.
On a small cabinet beside the bed, her dragon slayer sword lay, its dragon scales radiating as though it recognized her will.

'Hm, am I at the right place?' he thought. 'Or am I probably lost?'
He stared at the flyer once again and then at the building.
The address was the same as the one written on the flyer.
Before him stood a majestic four-story building.
It was the largest building in this part of town, and people were seen entering through the front door with excitement on their faces, battle gears strapped to their bodies.
"Yup, I am at the right building. Let's go hunt, shall we?" Azrael said, entering the building.
