Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

In a gloomy room, we see the mc of the story, Azrael. Azrael is a normal worker.. well.. that was until she died of exhaustion.

"Fuck.. Am I really gonna die..?" Azrael said as her eyes became heavy.

————

"Hmm.." Azrael hummed as she opened her eyes. The first thing she noticed was the sensation of warmth.

It wasn't like the warmth of a soft bed on a lazy morning or the heat of the sun on her skin during a summer's day. No, this warmth was more intense, more all-encompassing. It made her feel safe, like being nestled within something soft and protective.

As consciousness slowly returned to her, she tried to open her eyes, but her lids felt heavy, uncooperative. Her senses, though dulled, began to stir. She could hear faint rustling, the sound of soft breathing nearby.

'what.. what is going on..?' she wondered, her mind sluggish. The last thing she remembered was...

Pain.

Her heart skipped a beat as memories came rushing back—a life lived in exhaustion, where every day had felt like a struggle. She had been someone who worked tirelessly, always grinding, always pushing forward, trying to survive in a cold and indifferent world.

In her last moments, she remembered collapsing in her apartment, her body finally succumbing to the strain. The world had gone dark.

'So, this is death?''she thought, feeling oddly calm. But if she was dead, why could she feel warmth? Why could she hear the steady sound of something breathing?

Confusion swirled in her mind as she tried to open her eyes again. This time, they fluttered open slowly, revealing a blurry, dim world. She could see shapes around her—soft, dark shapes, moving gently. She tried to move, to sit up, but her body felt... strange. Smaller. Weaker.

A creeping sense of unease filled her as she tried to take in her surroundings. Everything felt wrong. Her body didn't respond the way it should have. Her limbs felt short and uncoordinated. Even her skin—or what should have been her skin—felt different. She could feel fur against her own body, thick and soft, unlike anything she had ever felt before.

Suddenly, the shapes around her shifted, and she saw a large, furry figure lean over her. It was... a fox? Her vision was still unfocused, but the sight of the creature made her freeze. It wasn't just any fox—it was huge, larger than any animal she had ever seen, with shimmering golden eyes that seemed to look directly into her soul.

Before she could even comprehend what was happening, the creature nuzzled her, a warm, comforting gesture. And then it hit her.

'I.. I'm not human anymore..!?'

Her heart pounded in her chest as the realization sank in. She wasn't lying on a bed or in some otherworldly afterlife. She was nestled in a den, surrounded by other foxes—small, furry creatures that were no doubt her siblings. And the large fox? That had to be her mother.

She tried to scream, to ask what was going on, but all that came out was a soft, pitiful yip.

Panic surged through her as she squirmed, her tiny limbs flailing uselessly. She was a fox. A baby fox.

'This has to be a nightmare' she thought frantically. 'This can't be real! '

But no matter how much she struggled, reality didn't shift. The large fox—her mother—watched her with concern, nuzzling her again in an attempt to calm her down. The warmth returned, the sensation of safety and comfort wrapping around her like a blanket.

'Okay... deep breath... I'm alive. Somehow, I'm alive.' She forced herself to calm down, trying to think through the panic. 'I've been reincarnated as a baby fox. I need to figure out what's happening.'

As her breathing steadied, she took a moment to assess the situation. She was in some kind of den, lying on a soft, earthy surface. There were other small foxes around her, probably her siblings, and the large fox beside her had to be her mother. The details were hazy, but she could piece together enough to realize she had been reborn into a completely different body.

Before she could dive too deeply into her thoughts, however, something strange happened. A soft chime echoed in her mind, followed by a voice—cool, mechanical, and almost emotionless.

[Congratulations, Child of Luck. You have been granted the 'Child of Luck' novice pack. You now have infinite luck at your disposal.]

Her thoughts screeched to a halt.

'What..?'

The voice didn't repeat itself, but the words hung in her mind, clear as day. Infinite luck? Novice pack? What was this, some kind of game? She tried to focus, and to her surprise, a small window appeared in front of her, like a translucent screen hovering in the air.

[System Activated]

Her heart raced as she read the words. This was definitely something out of a game—a system interface that was somehow tied to her new life. She was no longer just a baby fox. She has a system now. And according to that system, she had been granted infinite luck.

[Novice Pack: Child of Luck]

- Skill: Infinite Luck – All events and outcomes will be influenced by extraordinary luck.

- Bonus: Charm Aura – People and creatures are naturally drawn to you, and are more likely to help you.

- Gift: Fox's Grace – Your agility and reflexes are greatly enhanced, even at a young age.

'This can't be real... ' She blinked, rereading the words over and over. Infinite luck? Charm aura? She was starting to feel like she had been dropped into some kind of fantasy novel. But the more she stared at the screen, the more it became clear that this wasn't just a dream. This was her new reality.

I've been reincarnated... as a baby fox... with infinite luck.

Azrael's mind swirled with confusion and disbelief. She took a deep breath—or rather, tried to. Her tiny chest rose and fell rapidly, her body still adjusting to its new form. A baby fox with infinite luck? It was so absurd, yet the glowing screen hovering in her vision didn't lie.

As Azrael's tiny heart began to calm, she lay nestled among her siblings, still buzzing from the recent encounter. Her body still felt small and vulnerable, but something inside her had shifted. She was no longer just a helpless baby fox. She had power—or, more precisely, luck—on her side.

'This system,' she thought. 'I need to understand it more if I'm going to survive here.'

With that, she focused again, hoping to pull up more information about herself. Instantly, the translucent system window appeared before her, this time displaying her stats.

Azrael blinked at the numbers before her. While her physical stats—strength, agility, and endurance—were pitifully low, that was to be expected given that she was a newborn fox. But the standout, of course, was her infinite luck, a stat that seemed to dwarf everything else.

'This is crazy,' she thought. 'I'm a literal baby, but I have the kind of luck people only dream of.'

The other notable stat was her intelligence. It was significantly higher than the rest, no doubt thanks to the memories and knowledge from her previous life as a human. And then there was her charm, which was higher than average, likely due to the Charm Aura skill. It explained why her mother had been so attentive, and why even in the heat of danger, she had remained protective.

'So, I'm not strong, and I'm not fast yet, but I have luck and charm on my side. This could work.'

With a mental command, she closed the stats window, her mind buzzing with possibilities. She knew she couldn't rely on luck forever. At some point, she would need to grow stronger, faster, more capable of surviving on her own. But for now, infinite luck would be her most powerful weapon.

Her mother lay back down beside her and her siblings, the warmth of her fur comforting Azrael as she settled back into the soft nest. For now, she was safe. But she knew this peace wouldn't last forever. There was a world outside the den, full of dangers, and Azrael would need to face it sooner or later.

'One step at a time,' she thought, curling her small body into a ball. 'First, I need to grow.'

As her eyes fluttered shut, she let out a small sigh. This life was strange, but it was a second chance, and she wasn't going to waste it. With infinite luck, she would survive—no matter what came her way.

'Okay, Azrael,' she thought to herself. 'You've survived exhaustion, died, and now... you're a fox. A lucky fox. What's the next step?'

She tried to move again, her tiny paws clumsy against the den's soft earth. It felt like her body was still adjusting, the unfamiliarity of it making her feel more like a spectator trapped within. The large fox, her mother, continued to watch her with gentle, protective eyes. The other small foxes—her siblings—were fast asleep, nestled close to one another for warmth.

'Infinite luck, huh?' Azrael thought. 'If that's really true, maybe I can get some answers…'

She focused on the system window, unsure of what to do next. Maybe there was more information in this "novice pack" she could explore. To her surprise, the screen flickered again, and a new message appeared.

[Would you like to open the Novice Pack?]

'Yes,' she thought, barely finishing the word in her mind before the screen shifted again.

[Novice Pack Opened: You have received the following items:

- Skill: Instinctual Comprehension – Gain an innate understanding of your surroundings and the natural world.

- Item: Lucky Feather – An ethereal feather that enhances your luck further. (Automatically equipped)

- Item: Fox's Embrace – A one-time use cloak of invisibility, allowing you to hide from danger.]

Azrael blinked, digesting the new information. Instinctual Comprehension—that sounded useful, especially since she was suddenly thrust into a body and a world she didn't understand. Her mind raced with possibilities, and she could feel a subtle change within her, like an extra layer of awareness awakening.

'Let's see how this works.'

Focusing, she tried to tune into her surroundings. Instantly, a wave of information flooded her senses. The warmth of her mother's fur, the soft rhythm of her siblings' breaths, the faint scent of earth, grass, and distant water. She could even sense the presence of smaller creatures outside the den—mice, birds, insects—all alive, scurrying through their daily lives.

It was overwhelming, but at the same time, strangely comforting. Her fox instincts seemed to help her make sense of it all, grounding her in this new world.

'Okay, I can work with this,' she thought, feeling a bit more confident. 'I'm not helpless, and I have time to figure things out.'

Just as she began to relax, however, a new feeling crept over her. It was subtle at first, like a prickling sensation at the edge of her awareness. Danger. Something—or someone—was approaching the den.

Her mother's ears twitched, and Azrael saw the large fox lift her head, her golden eyes narrowing as she listened to something Azrael couldn't hear yet. The baby foxes around her remained blissfully unaware, but Azrael's newfound instincts screamed at her.

'Something's wrong.'

The system screen flickered again, pulling her attention.

[Warning: Hostile presence detected nearby. Using your luck, a protective opportunity is about to present itself.]

Before Azrael could react, her mother let out a low growl, standing up swiftly. The entrance to the den darkened, and Azrael saw it—a shadowy figure, too large to be any ordinary predator, blocking the exit. Its eyes glowed faintly in the dim light, and a menacing growl echoed through the small space.

Panic surged through her. She was just a baby fox! How could she possibly defend herself?

But then, the system's promise kicked in. Infinite luck.

A sudden gust of wind blew through the entrance, kicking up dust and leaves, obscuring the intruder's vision. The large fox, her mother, seized the moment. She charged, her powerful body a blur of motion, using the brief distraction to attack.

Azrael watched, wide-eyed, as her mother fiercely defended the den. The shadowy figure recoiled, surprised by the sudden force. Azrael could feel the effects of her luck already at work. The wind had shifted in their favor, and her mother was fighting with an almost unnatural agility, her movements faster and more precise than she could have imagined.

The intruder hesitated, clearly not expecting such a fierce defense. With one last snarl, it turned and fled, retreating into the forest as quickly as it had appeared.

The danger passed, and the den returned to its previous quiet. Her mother let out a low, calming rumble, checking on each of her kits, her eyes still sharp and alert.

Azrael felt her tiny heart racing, but the warmth of her mother's presence calmed her. The system had been right. Her luck had saved them.

'Maybe… this luck thing isn't so bad after all,' she thought, a small sense of hope blooming in her chest.

As the system window flickered and disappeared, Azrael realized something: this life, strange as it was, might just be her second chance. And with infinite luck on her side, she had a feeling things were about to get interesting.
