When did this whole banter start? I remembered asking him to wait behind me so I could have a discussion with him privately to apologize for the way I behaved towards him yesterday, and now I found myself drowning in the conversation, not understanding why he was linking yesterday's incident to business.
"I'm cutting the partnership off," Those words dripped from his mouth, and my eyes widened, my eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
My lips parted my throat dried, words refusing to leave my mouth. I just stood motionless watching him leave.
As soon as he left, the air of authority around him followed him, the atmosphere becoming less tense.
