But if it's the tears of the Phoenix… then not only would it grant immortality, but it could also allow one to maintain their body's peak condition indefinitely! With these two vials of tears, Snape no longer dared to use them recklessly. He believed that none of the potion recipes he knew were worthy of utilizing these tears.
"Come to my office tomorrow night," Snape instructed weakly, giving Wayne a meaningful glance. At this point, the attention of everyone at the main table had fully shifted to the two of them. Especially seeing Snape actually smile, even Professor McGonagall found it hard to believe.
"Lawrence, what are you discussing with Professor Snape?" Professor Sprout, the head of the department, was the most qualified to inquire and showed no intent to conceal anything.
"Well, Dean, I just felt that my potion-making skills were lacking, so I asked Professor Snape for some extra lessons." Wayne lowered his head, feeling embarrassed. "I just provided him with some materials he would need for his class." As he spoke, he took out a jar of Phoenix droppings to give to his dean as fertilizer and handed a feather to both Professor Flitwick and Professor McGonagall.
Professor Sprout burst into laughter, unsure about the fertilizing properties of Phoenix droppings, as it was her first time using them. Immediately, her gaze toward Wayne softened even further: "Then I won't be polite. If you need any plants in the future, just come to me."
Having a gifted, eager-to-learn, and obedient student is indeed rare. In their third year, they had a Cedric, and in the first year, there was Wayne. Professor Sprout seemed to envision a new era for Hufflepuff on the horizon.
After receiving the gifts, it was only natural to discuss business. McGonagall and Flitwick smiled as they informed Wayne that he could come to them with any questions he encountered in his studies.
"Mr. Lawrence…" The normally silent Dumbledore finally spoke, letting out a sigh of disappointment: "You haven't forgotten this old man, have you?"
Wayne was taken aback. "Professor, don't you already have Fawkes? Do you still need these materials?"
"Of course I do," Dumbledore replied, blinking. "Every Phoenix is unique, especially yours, which is a 'Royal Phoenix'!" Not long ago, the Royal Phoenix had often visited Dumbledore, sharing meals and drinks with Fawkes. Even Snape could sense something unusual about it; how could Dumbledore not notice?
Unfortunately, Dumbledore was not an expert in magical creatures; he could only feel the Phoenix's strength and uniqueness from a magical perspective but couldn't extract any more useful information. However, it was alright; he had written to an old friend, asking that expert for some advice. Since the headmaster had openly solicited a favor, Wayne naturally felt he couldn't refuse.
He took out another feather and handed it to Dumbledore. The old man gently rubbed the feather for a moment, feeling its warmth before smiling as he accepted it, intending to send it to that old friend later.
Sensing that there were still eyes on him, Wayne turned his head and wore a teasing smile. "What's wrong, Professor Quirrell? Do you also want some materials?"
