There's only a name that's been mistaken, not a nickname that's been wrongly assigned.
Snape had truly transformed into a giant bat, wandering the classroom, leaving no one knowing where he would appear next behind a student.
"Bones, do you have a problem with your eyes? Can't read the words 'snake fangs'? What do you need wild boar teeth for?"
"Ha, Carter, what are you laughing at? Don't you understand what 'grinding it to powder' means? Is your powder the same size as your peas?"
Hannah, working with Wayne, shuddered and silently reprocessed the snake fang powder.
"Miss Brown, I suggest you send a letter home to retrieve the brain you left behind before coming to class."
"I wrote it clearly: add Flobberworm mucus. Did you think you should throw in the whole worm? Are you cooking or what?"
"Tsk, what's the difference in cooking?" Wayne muttered under his breath.
Aren't they just processing ingredients?
Putting them in the pot in order, turning the heat up and then down, and finally bringing it back to a boil to reduce.
A fresh pot of green goo would be accomplished!
"Hannah, what are you doing? Don't add that!"
Wayne quickly stopped Hannah as she reached for more ingredients.
"What is that?"
"Hedgehog quills," Hannah replied, her wide-eyed innocence revealing her lack of knowledge.
Wayne facepalmed, "The quills are added at the end, when the potion is nearly done; it's too early for that."
"Also, didn't we agree on cutting them into three centimeters… do you have three millimeters here?"
On the brass tray, the dark brown hedgehog quills were nearly ground to dust, and Wayne began to understand why Snape had such a foul temper.
Dealing with students like these every day would make it hard to be in a good mood.
"Huh?" Hannah's mouth dropped open in shock as she glanced at the blackboard, noticing it did indeed say three centimeters, transforming her face to grayscale.
"What do I do, Wayne? I only grabbed this one batch of materials."
Recalling Snape's earlier warning that wasting materials meant eating it themselves, Hannah looked at Wayne with teary eyes, "Help me, Wayne! I don't want to be poisoned!"
Wayne sighed, "Continue brewing. Just keep an eye on the professor and let me know when he's a bit farther away."
He didn't dare let Hannah handle anything more, taking all the ingredients to his side to manage.
Snape continued to lecture with a venomous tone, yet his words made no mistakes.
Until he reached the other side of the classroom, Hannah quickly informed Wayne.
Wayne looked up, noticed Snape's back was turned, and immediately took out his wand.
"Hedgehog quills, fly here!"
Several hedgehog quills suddenly soared from the cupboard, streaking over the little witch's head, landing right in front of Wayne.
Everyone was so focused on their potion brewing that they didn't notice anything amiss.
Snape seemed to sense something but turned around abruptly, finding nothing out of the ordinary, before turning back to scold Toby and Norman.
"Your abilities in academics pose no threat to me, but in education, you could ruin my reputation. Hufflepuff loses two points!"
"That's so cool!" Hannah seemed unfazed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"This is the Summoning Charm, you can only learn it in fifth year."
"You'd learn it too if you practiced more."
"I don't have the time for that," Hannah shook her head, her pigtails swaying, "I need to head to the kitchen to learn cooking from the house-elves; they know so much."
Hannah had mentioned that her dream was to take over her family's Broken Cauldron Inn and eventually update the menu that hadn't changed in over a hundred years.
So, whenever she had a spare moment, she'd sneak into the kitchen and pick up recipes from the house-elves.
You could say that Hufflepuff doesn't tolerate idlers.
The little wizards, aside from studying hard, had their hands on all sorts of tasks.
By the end of class, aside from Wayne and Hannah's group getting an approving nod from Snape, only Lisa Dupin and Padma Patil from Ravenclaw received a decent evaluation.
Padma Patil was an Indian Brahmin high-caste young lady, and she had a sister named Parvati in Gryffindor.
It was rare for such twin sisters to be sorted into different houses.
"Finally done."
As he stepped out of the potions classroom, Wayne stretched comfortably.
The week's classes were over, and the next two days would be a break.
Oh, right, there were those lengthy papers totaling dozens of inches across multiple subjects.
Thinking of this, Wayne frowned as he made his way to the Great Hall.
While these papers didn't require much thought, the time they wasted was no trivial matter.
He figured he might as well take a walk by the Black Lake to get familiar with the Hogwarts grounds rather than waste time on these simple assignments.
"Wayne! I was just about to look for you."
As he entered the Great Hall, Cedric suddenly appeared, patting Wayne's shoulder.
"Anything up?"
"It's not me; it's the twins looking for you." Cedric tightened his grip on the book he was holding, and Wayne glanced over to see it was the textbook for Care of Magical Creatures.
As they walked toward the long table, Wayne asked, "What sort of trouble are they up to now?"
"I have no idea; they just said they'd come find you after dinner. That's all I know."
Wayne nodded, "Alright, got it."
At seven o'clock, a classmate approached Wayne, who was busy playing wizard chess with Cedric, and told him that the twins were right outside.
"I'll go with you. What if they pull another prank?" Cedric seized the opportunity, pushing a piece on the chessboard, looking like a loyal friend.
If it weren't for the state of the chessboard—where he had only two pawns and a queen left—Wayne might have believed him.
Outside the common room, they saw two rather comical faces.
Fred or George teased with a grin, "Hey, Wayne, did you bring a bodyguard along?"
"He came on his own; I didn't ask him." Wayne shrugged, "What do you want with me?"
Since the incident where he'd pranked the twins twice last week, they'd been busy non-stop, just finishing their research on notable alumni; now they were eager to appear in front of him again.
Wayne was curious what mischief they had in mind.
"We're here to invite you," George said, "but since Cedric's here, it's a party of three."
"How about we take a stroll around the campus tomorrow?"
"The way you say it makes it sound like I'm a cheap parchment being given away with a quill. How insulting," Cedric scoffed at them.
"Besides, what could possibly be interesting to explore at the school?"
Fred raised an eyebrow, "Aren't you curious about the corridor on the fourth floor?"
