Ryuto yawned and stretched out in his chair at the guild, leaning back with an air of contentment. For once, things seemed peaceful. No cultists, no giant monsters to slay, and, best of all, no one trying to kill him.
He looked over at Roland, who was busy stuffing his face with a plate of roasted meat. "You know," Ryuto said lazily, "I could get used to days like this. No life-or-death battles, no royal drama… just a calm, quiet morning."
"Yeah," Roland replied through a mouthful of food, "peaceful days are the best."
Nina was leaning against the counter, juggling one of her daggers casually. "Sure, peaceful's nice and all, but you know things never stay that way for long, right?"
Ryuto sighed. "Please don't jinx it."
