All across the country of Coldera, a recent name had started being talked about.
"Shun! The demon child! He's gone and burned another village!"
"It can't be a human! It must be a monster or something?"
"It's a demon; they've come to Coldera!"
"It's probably a rumour. No kid can cause that kind of damage."
No one had known what he looked like. No one saw his face. His body. Where he was going, what his goal was, and, more importantly, the amount of people he killed.
They all became unrecognisable, burnt and crisped. Anyone who did see him was incinerated. No matter father, mother, daughter, son or baby. They all were turned to ash.
The king of Vastos had sent out a unit to observe and, if need be, kill Shun; he was 8 at the time. However, he hadn't gotten any reports from them ever since. After 2 years the king had finally decided.
"Shun is an enemy of Vastos, and if anyone has seen him, you are free to execute him. Anyone harbouring this demon shall also be executed. Anyone who brings the head of Shun will be paid handsomely!" News of his word spread quickly from Vastos all the way to Coldera.
Age ten: Shun, the demon child, was hereby sentenced to execution.
The king of Coldera was displeased. By Shun's murder spree but more so by the fact that the king of Vastos had freely declared an execution of one of his subjects.
"Shun..yes he's killed quite a bit of my people, but that only means he's strong. We can use that. Take advantage of it."
The King of Coldera was cunning and sly. His build was skinny. He sat in a dark throne room, only ever having one person at his side, his personal advisor, not many people have seen the king. His words are only ever spoken and carried out by his advisor. People assigned to the castle to defend it wondered if the king sometimes existed.
He thought less of people. Seeing them as nothing but pawns. His country was more important to him and he was willing to sacrifice them if need be.
"Send out a group -no- a whole army and capture this boy named Shun."
An army of men, marching in formation, had walked across the country, village to village, in search of the infamous demon child. In just a couple of days, they had found a sign of where Shun may be. In the distance, there was a great cloud of black smoke. The army marched and marched through the thick snow.
The village was already beyond saving; however, at the centre of the great big fire was a silhouette of a kid.
The army had encircled the village raising all their shield, pointing their spears towards Shun.
Slowly, they had started enclosing Shun as if he were an untamed, wild beast. However, Shun's actions were animalistic. He had started showing his teeth looking all around, seeing himself surrounded. This didn't stop him from charging forward, burning dozens of men. However, the number of knights was too great.
He had been stabbed and injured and had grown weaker and weaker until he had passed out. He gritted his teeth as he was pinned to the ground with spears; his hair was long and messy, and he had bags under his eyes. Dirt on his face now trickling with blood.
"Make sure not to kill him. The king orders it!"
"Put him in chains, make sure it can withstand his fire!"
Shun was now completely chained up, unable to move. Only his eyes showed. He stared in resentment at everything around him. The army had fulfilled their job and headed back inwards of Coldera.
"For the kingdom!!" All the knights shouted in unison.
-----------------------------------------
"We've captured the demon child!"
They presented the chained-up Shun to the King's advisor.
"He has good eyes. Unchain his mouth! I want to hear what he has to say."
One of the knights cautiously and slowly went to unchain his mouth. He pulled the chain out, and just then, he had sunk his teeth. The knight's hand combusted in flames; he cried in agony as he fell to the floor.
"AHHHH! AHHHHHHH!" His armour couldn't stop the flame from burning through his skin as it just melted the armour. Shun then spat onto the ground.
He stared with great murderous intent at the king's advisor.
"Well, we can't have that can we?" The king's advisor had a great big smile on his face. "What would you say in joining our ranks? A war is near and you'll be able to kill as much as you want on the battlefield."
"..."
"You can speak, right?"
Shun had then tried to shake the chains off in an attempt to break it. The king's advisor stepped back, scared.
"A mute..well this is bad. A person with no sense of reason and great power is just a monster, no? We'll just have to turn you into that then."
A special group led by the king's advisor had been researching ways to combine both monster and human elements to create perfect, unwavering soldiers.
"You'll be a good test subject."
They've already tried countless times, but all their attempts have been nothing but failures.
At age ten, Shun had been chained up, and for the next nine years, he'd been tortured and experimented on.
