But these things weren't important. Hayashi was fundamentally different from the people of this world. If he were a native of this world, then, indeed, learning techniques would rely heavily on bloodline inheritance. However, he was not from this world, and he had special abilities. Perhaps he could learn techniques differently?
With his current power, people assumed that Hayashi's strength came from inherited bloodlines, with the most representative being his Cursed Energy Armor.
Cursed Energy Armor seemed like a technique that could only be passed down through bloodlines and was impossible to learn later in life.
"Reverse Cursed Technique—Regeneration."
The book Hayashi opened was about Reverse Cursed Techniques. As he flipped to the next page, a line of text suddenly appeared before his eyes.
[Reverse Cursed Technique—Regeneration. Requires 100 points.]
"What the heck!" Hayashi exclaimed out loud. The old man outside heard him and instinctively looked toward Hayashi's direction, shaking his head again. "I've told them, learning those techniques is impossible. It's good just to look."
"Only 100 points to learn Reverse Cursed Technique: Regeneration? I've got to take advantage of this!" Hayashi was thrilled. He had been worried he wouldn't understand the book, but now he saw there was no need to worry. He didn't even need to keep reading.
With 100 points, he could learn the Reverse Cursed Technique for regeneration. With this technique, even if his limbs were severed, he could regenerate them using cursed energy.
Although earning 100 points wouldn't be easy, Hayashi was determined to obtain the technique.
That's why staying at school and training with the seniors was pointless—he needed to go out and hunt curses.
"Let's check out the other techniques." Hayashi's heart raced. If this was the trend, how many techniques could he learn in the future?
Becoming one of the strongest fighters was within his reach!
"Reverse Cursed Technique—Healing."
[Reverse Cursed Technique—Healing. Requires 100 points.]
What was the essential difference between regeneration and healing? Hayashi wasn't sure.
"Reverse Cursed Technique—Rewind."
[Reverse Cursed Technique—Rewind. Requires 300 points.]
The word "rewind" seemed to imply the reversal of something that had already happened. No wonder it required 300 points—it was extravagant.
However, Hayashi wasn't exactly sure how rewind worked. Could it rewind only himself, or could it affect other things?
"Cursed Technique Lapse—Thunder Burst."
[Cursed Technique Lapse—Thunder Burst. Requires 150 points.]
"Cursed Technique Lapse—Shikigami."
[Cursed Technique Lapse—Shikigami. Requires 200 points.]
"Cursed Technique Lapse—Fire Extinguish."
[Cursed Technique Lapse—Fire Extinguish. Requires 150 points.]
After reviewing a variety of Reverse and Lapse jujutsus, Hayashi found that while they were decent, none seemed overwhelmingly powerful. Perhaps these were the strongest techniques that could be learned here, or maybe stronger ones were kept by the principal, or perhaps they weren't available at all in the library.
But even with just these techniques, Hayashi felt it was already a great opportunity. The world was vast, and there were surely many forbidden techniques he could learn. As long as he could find them, he could master them.
As for Jujutsu High, these techniques were mostly left here without much attention. As sorcerers, people understood that these unattainable techniques weren't worth the effort, which was why they had gathered so much dust.
Hayashi closed the book, feeling that his trip to the Jujutsu Library had been very rewarding. Now, he just needed to defeat some curses and return to claim these techniques.
"Young man, you should focus on strengthening your body and mastering what you already have. This place isn't for you," the old man advised as Hayashi walked out of the library, his words full of earnest advice, urging Hayashi not to waste his time on meaningless things.
Hayashi smiled, thanked him, and left, heading toward the school's training grounds.
Fushiguro and the others were likely training there now.
"You went to the Jujutsu library first thing in the morning? What's so special about that place? It's completely useless," Nobara called out to Hayashi from a distance as she saw him approaching.
The other seniors who were training their running and reaction speed also glanced at Hayashi. In their eyes, he was just a kid who was good at cooking, but definitely not someone who took training seriously.
While the Jujutsu library might offer some help to jujutsu sorcerers, its usefulness was minimal. Every sorcerer should already understand the basic rules of jujutsu, so going there didn't achieve much.
As for learning those techniques, that was even more of a pipe dream.
At the moment, training oneself was what mattered most, which is why the seniors thought Hayashi wasn't very motivated.
"I was just browsing around, learning more about Jujutsu High," Hayashi replied, making an excuse. Though there were indeed books about Jujutsu High's history and lore in the library, he hadn't really paid much attention to them.
"Gojo-sensei is at the school now. If you plan on leaving, make sure to let him know," Fushiguro said, having come to terms with the fact that Hayashi seemed uninterested in staying at school. Why that was, Fushiguro couldn't understand.
Still, it didn't matter to him. Fushiguro was determined to become stronger, and no one would stop him from achieving that. Training with the seniors would help him improve much faster.
"Hayashi, you're leaving the school now? What for?" Maki stopped running and asked, still not fully understanding Hayashi's capabilities.
"I want to go out and get some experience, while I still have the time."
When Hayashi said this, everyone present thought he sounded immature. That kind of talk shouldn't come from a mature jujutsu sorcerer.
"At your age, I won't blame you for having such thoughts, but this mindset isn't the right one," Maki's words were mild. Had it not been for the fact that Hayashi had treated her to a nice meal and given her gifts yesterday, she might have given him a scolding.
"Salmon!" Inumaki agreed.
Panda, on the other hand, was more direct. "Kid, just stay here and train with us. I'm not trying to discourage you, but going out on your own to train is a sure way to get yourself killed or seriously hurt. We've already lost one first-year. I don't want to lose another."
That also included the lure of Hayashi's cooking. If he died out there, they'd never taste his delicious food again. Even if they did, it would cost a lot of money.
The mention of the lost first-year made everyone feel uneasy. That's why none of them supported Hayashi's idea of going out to train alone.
Hayashi had expected their opposition, so he didn't say anything more to defend his position. He would simply leave when the time came. Talking too much now would only make them think he was being foolish.
Before Maki could challenge Hayashi to a sparring match to test his strength, Hayashi quietly slipped away.
Not long after, while walking along the stone path, Hayashi saw a tall woman in a white coat approaching. She had slight dark circles under her eyes, which might have been from eyeshadow or something else. Beneath her right eye was a beauty mark, adding a touch of elegance and maturity to her appearance.
If she were ten years younger, she'd definitely be a top-tier beauty.
"You must be a first-year student, right?" The woman smiled at Hayashi. "I'm Ieiri Shoko, the school doctor at Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical College."
"Hello, sensei!" Hayashi quickly greeted her. This sophisticated woman exuded a mature charm, but Hayashi had no other thoughts. "By the way, have you seen Gojo-sensei around?"
"Oh, him? Just follow this path, and you'll find him," Ieiri Shoko said as she passed by Hayashi. "I've got some things to take care of, so I'll be on my way."
"Take care, sensei," Hayashi called after her, waving as she walked away. She waved back, displaying a warm friendliness.
