Markus fumed as he watched his wife, Elena dote on their long-lost daughter Lizzy. Gods knew what she must have endured at the hands of that bastard Lucas. How dare he treat his daughter like discarded trash? Markus's heart ached for all the suffering Lizzy had endured without him there to protect her. He was never letting her out of his sight again.
The lengths they had gone to find her had been worth it, and now that she was home, he would make sure she was safe.
"I would make that scum pay for what he's done to you," Markus growled in anger.
The body guards surrounding him puffed their chests out, ready to carry out his next instruction. Lizzy knew that anyone who pissed Markus off faced his wrath but she wanted to punish Lucas in her own way.
Besides, she had just found her parents, and she didn't want anything to ruin their bonding moment.
"Please, Father, promise me it would be my decision to teach Lucas a lesson" Lizzy said softly, her eyes pleading.
Markus sighed in resignation. His daughter was his one weakness. He loved her so much that he would do anything to make her happy.
"Very well, Lizzy. I promise, and I will keep my word," Markus said, his voice softening.
"But it tears me apart to see you hurt like this." Stroking Lizzy's hair
Elena cooed gently, "We are so sorry for everything you've been through, my dear. If we had known, we would have moved heaven and earth to find you sooner." Lizzy shook her head, tears brimming in her eyes.
"It wasn't your fault, mother. You and father did everything you could to find me. What matters now is that we're together again."
Markus looked at his daughter with a mixture of sorrow and pride.
"From today henceforth I would make it known that my long lost daughter has been found so that no one would ever look down on you again. You deserve to be treated with the respect and honor befitting your station."
Lizzy's heart swelled with emotion. All she had ever wished for was a family where she could be loved. It was why she endured all those years of hardship with Evelyn, Rania, and Vanessa, while they treated her like a maid hoping that one day they would finally accept her, and now for the first time she felt a sense of belonging with her family.
The media was in a frenzy at the announcement that Markus Berlin, the richest man in the country, had found his long-lost daughter. Speculation ran rampant as everyone tried to guess the identity of the mysterious woman, while news anchors debated endlessly about her possible background and the circumstances that led to her disappearance.
Lucas Jenkins, sitting in his office, was ecstatic about the news. For years, he had attempted to secure a partnership with Markus Berlin but had been unsuccessful.
Lucas's company was eager to expand into the entertainment industry, and the Berlin Group, a powerhouse that had produced famous superstars like Caleb Kent, Lucy Drew, and Morgan Slayer, was the key.
If Lucas couldn't get directly to Markus, perhaps he could charm his daughter into speaking to her father on his behalf.
The perfect opportunity would be the upcoming Berlin annual auction, which Lucas had never attended before but now had a reason to. One of the featured items was a rose diamond ring worn
by Queen Charlotte herself, a piece Scarlett wanted for their engagement.
After his divorce with Lizzy, Lucas had announced to his family his intention to marry Scarlett, and they were beyond thrilled.
Besides Scarlett was already pregnant, something Lizzy had been unable to do during their three years together.
Lucas had instructed his assistant to search for Lizzy, but she seemed to have vanished without a trace which unsettled him deeply. It was as if she had disappeared off the face of the earth. He had expected her to come back crawling and begging him to take her back since she had nowhere else to go. He couldn't believe she had the guts to end their relationship; at first, he thought she was bluffing, but it seemed she truly wanted nothing to do with him again.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. His secretary Chloe bursted in, her face pale with alarm, without a word, she handed him her tablet. On its screen, a news article displayed a startling headline: "Lucas Jenkins' Ex-Wife spotted in the arms of Caleb Kent."
