The all-encompassing black. The color of nothing. The almighty fade. This is what Jade Blackworth finds himself floating in as memories flash before him. He was just your average hood-born kid, except he had a deadbeat mom. Life had its challenges—poverty and danger were constants—but at least he had made it out. Only to die on a highway, after a random shot from a gang member's Uzi hit his car in a fit of road rage, killing him and his dog.
His dog, a German Shepherd colored like a Husky, had been his best friend. They were headed to the lakefront for a beach day, only to meet their end. At least he wasn't in hell for what he did that night...
Suddenly, Jade finds himself standing outside a stone mansion—the stone almost resembling obsidian. He looks down at a purple stone path leading to its door and up at a neon purple moon hanging in the sky. Confused, he realizes he hasn't been kidnapped—this is something else, something more. He decides to follow the path into the mansion.
Inside, the room is vast—far larger than the mansion appeared from the outside. In the center, a giant man sits on a red and purple stone throne, surrounded by all kinds of canines—dogs, wolves, and more. On the man's lap sits a strangely colored German Shepherd, crying softly, almost too human-like. The dog looks up, its golden eyes locking with Jade's purple ones. Recognition flashes in both of their eyes. In a blink, the dog leaps from the giant man's lap, running faster than anything Jade's ever seen. The dog tackles him, licking his face eagerly.
"Yin?" Jade yells, hugging his companion tightly, tears flowing as the two reunite. An hour or so later, as Jade relaxes against Yin, he hears a cough. He looks up at the man on the throne, noticing the giant's wolf-like tail and glowing purple eyes outlined in black.
The man bellows, "Jade Blackworth, you've been chosen for reincarnation to serve a grand purpose. Your new life's job is to manage a universal Omega timeline. Many souls, like you, find themselves floating in the eternal black or stuck in horrible conditions. Your mission will be to help them. You will be rewarded for it, of course."
"Do I have a choice?" Jade asks, amused.
The man's face breaks into a sly smile. "I mean, you could go to hell for the six brutal murders you committed after your sister killed herself... after she was raped." He pauses, then adds, "For the record, it's bullshit that counts as a sin."
Jade freezes, reliving that night. He hugs Yin closer. The man frowns. "I know you blame yourself for not saving her, but now you can atone by rescuing others."
"So yeah, it's either act as a universal homeless shelter—or hell," the god deadpans.
"Well... do I get powers? A system?" Jade asks, now worried about protecting himself.
The god sighs. "Yes, but it's gacha."
"Can I bring Yin?" Jade asks hopefully.
The god gives him a look, almost proud. "You asked the right question. I'm the gacha god of pets and summons, so I'll just make her one of your first spins. Don't tell the other gods," he whispers the last part with a huge smile on his face. "Good luck, 2673 427837."
Jade nods as a bright light engulfs him. He falls onto a pure white floor, with Yin landing on top of him and... a purple phone case. As he picks it up, he realizes it's a hologram phone. On the screen, he sees a gacha app, a phone app, and a void control app. As he stares at the phone, a notification pings. It reads:
"Hey, here's your system if you can call it that. Also, I didn't explain it as well as I could, so here's the rundown: You're preventing bad endings from happening by taking abused characters before they turn evil and sheltering those who destroyed their worlds. You're effectively multiversal CPS and, as I said before, a homeless shelter. I could explain how what you do keeps worlds from being destroyed and strengthens their gods, but that's too much work. You've got a gacha app for powers for you and your companions or children. Now, I'm giving you 6 free spins and my blessing, aka your dog. Also, thanks to that, expect a lot of pets, lol. Anyway, text me if you need help. Bye!"
As he finishes reading, understanding dawns on Jade. Just then, he hears a voice he wasn't expecting: "Dad, where are we?"
He looks around for whoever called him 'Dad' until his gaze lands on Yin, her now shockingly humanlike and very purple eyes staring at him.
"Yin? Did you just talk?"
"Yeah? Is that not normal? Why are you looking at me like that?" Yin responds, giving him a puzzled look.
Jade stares in disbelief. Then, a new notification pings on his phone.
"Oh yeah, forgot to mention—I gave you Omnispeak. You now understand all languages, so get used to it," it reads.
Well, that solves that problem, he thinks. He looks back at Yin. "Well, Circle, I've got a job as... uh, the new Omega Timeline Manager. And now I'm getting new powers so I can help people. And before you ask, the Omega Timeline is basically a universal homeless shelter."
"Okay," Yin says, before wandering off into the infinite white space.
Jade turns his attention back to the gacha app and spins. His results: Bakugo's Explosion Quirk, a unique Dragon Slayer Magic—Evil Dragon Slayer Magic, Hakai from Dragon Ball, Vegeta's Final Flash technique, an Aura Sphere TM from Pokémon but for humans, and whitebeard's quake fruit along with a free house that he instantly summons
He sits inside thinking about it all...
