Chapter 9 - Uninvited Guests

"William, get up. You promised me last night that you would accompany me hunting this morning. Get up quickly." William was awakened by a burst of urging voices early in the morning. When he opened his eyes, he saw the little loli Mia standing beside his bed and yelling.

"I say, what time is it now? Even if it's hunting, there's no need to be so excited," William said helplessly as he looked out the window at the dawning sky.

"Hmph, do you think everyone is like you, a dead pig? The sun is about to shine on your butt, get up quickly, or I'll lift your quilt," Mia threatened dissatisfiedly. At this time, Paretz had entered late autumn. If this little loli really acted arrogantly and lifted his quilt, he would be frozen to death.

"Okay, I'll get up right away, but please go out first, I need to change clothes." William had no choice but to succumb to the little loli's threat.

"Okay, I'll wait for you outside, you'd better hurry up." Hearing William's agreement, Mia grinned happily and ran out happily.

"This girl is such a disaster. She was so cute when she was young, will she be even more beautiful when she grows up? If so, it's not bad to raise a loli." William muttered as he sat in the bed and shook the bell at his hand. The maid outside heard the bell and quickly walked in.

There were three maids, one of whom was holding a plate with a toothbrush, a small plate of paste, and a small washbasin, while the other two maids were holding William's shirt and trousers respectively.

"I didn't expect that Europeans in the 18th century could make such simple toothbrushes and toothpaste. We really can't underestimate the ancients," William thought to himself, and began to wash up with the help of the maid. After a while, he put on his clothes and stood by the big mirror in the room, looking at his appearance in this life.

"As expected, no noble would look ugly enough to disappoint the audience." Little William thought complacently in front of the mirror with this thought in mind.

After being narcissistic for a while, he remembered what he had promised Mia and hurried out. He saw Du Li outside the door puffing up her cheeks and frowning with a smile. William saw it and said quickly

"Hurry up, Mia. If you don't leave now, you won't be able to catch any prey."

"Hmph, I'll spare you this once. If you make me wait so long next time, I'll put Badu's saliva into your cup." After saying that, he walked downstairs first. Badu was a gift from old Hans to Carlo on his fifth birthday. Badu is a pug and he drools a lot. Although William not only doesn't hate it but likes it very much, he will stay away from it if it licks your face with saliva, no matter how much he likes it.

William begged Mia for mercy and went downstairs with her. Carlo was standing downstairs, seeming to be dozing off. William walked to Carlo and pushed him, and Carlo fell down like a wooden man.

Carlo came back to life immediately after he fell down. He stood up quickly with his eyes wide open and said loudly:

"William, why are you pushing me?"

"I should be the one asking you this question. Why are you dozing off here?" William asked in confusion.

"It was Mia who poured a glass of water on my face early in the morning and asked me to get up. What time is it? Is it necessary to be so anxious?"

After hearing Carlo's answer, William mourned for Carlo in his heart. He thought I got up early enough, but he didn't expect that Carlo, the unlucky guy, got up even earlier. I pray that you won't fall off your horse. Amen. William made a cross in his heart. Then, under Mia unfriendly gaze, William and Carlo stopped chatting and walked out the door quickly.

There were more than twenty cavalrymen sitting on their horses outside the castle gate. Although William and his two companions went hunting, they were still young after all. What's more, William was a prince of Prussia. So Count Hans selected his own guards to protect them.

Spring turns to autumn, and now it is the autumn of 1777. Our William is seven years old.

Paretz is particularly beautiful in late autumn. The withered sycamore leaves add a touch of color to this beauty, and the rising sun makes the forest of Paretz full of poetry.

William and the others sat in the carriage, looking at the scenery outside the window. Little Dolly's eyes seemed to be full of stars, while Carlo sat on the side with his head tilted, and it seemed that he was catching up on his sleep.

After about half an hour, the group stopped in an open field in the forest. The coachman pulled out two small bows and a short gun from under his seat. Since Carlo was one year older, he used the short gun. William and Mia were equipped with bows and arrows because Count Hans was worried that they could not withstand the recoil of the short gun when firing.

The mounted guards brought out three Hanoverian warm-blood foals, which were just right for William and his men to ride.

The guards first entered the forest and drove the prey towards where William and his companions were. As for the large and aggressive prey, the guards dealt with them themselves to avoid threatening the safety of William and his companions.

A large number of hares and pheasants fluttered around in the forest. It was late autumn, the time when animals stored food and prepared for hibernation, so the prey dazzled William's eyes.

"William, shoot that pheasant quickly, the feathers on that pheasant are so beautiful, quick, William, I want those feathers." Before William could determine the target, Mia pointed at a pheasant, and Mia seemed to have forgotten that she also had a bow and arrow in her hand. So William quickly bent the bow and put the arrow in the bright eyes of our little Mia, and aimed at the pheasant using the method that Count Hans taught him in this life. With a whoosh, the bow and arrow shot the pheasant's head.

As expected, people who travel through time are different, William sighed in his heart. Ever since William could walk, he found that his strength was much greater than other children, but in order not to be regarded as a freak, he could only hide his ability quietly.

When the pheasant was handed to Mia, the little girl seemed so happy, she was so beautiful.

Just then, the sound of horse hooves was heard. It was obviously not from William's guards, because the sound was very loud, and accompanied by a cloud of dust, as if hundreds of horses were running.

When the sound of horse hooves was heard, the guards who had originally driven the animals instantly returned to the carriage and surrounded William and his companions to prevent any accidents. One of the guards lit the fireworks in his arms to promptly inform the castle of the danger where they were.

Soon the knights came to William's carriage. They made way for him and a handsome middle-aged man came out and said loudly:

"I am Henry Hohenzollern, please let Prince William come out to see me"

When little William heard this, he was excited. It turned out that this was Henry. In the Seven Years' War described by Count Hans, Prince Henry could be said to be a figure who could hold up half the sky. It seemed that no one in Prussia dared to impersonate Henry VIII.

Little William pushed aside the guards blocking his way, walked in front of Henry, bowed and said:

"Hello, Your Highness, I am William."

"Oh, let me take a closer look. Hmm, yes, you look like our Hohenzollern family. I only saw you once when you were born. I didn't expect you to be so big now," Henry said happily with his eyes narrowed.

"Your Highness, how come you have time to come and see me again?" Little William asked Henry puzzledly.

"The Duke of Bern, the patriarch of the Wittelsbach family who rules Bavaria, has not been in good health recently, so His Majesty sent me to Bavaria to visit him. I came to see you on the way. I asked Count Hans and he came here after learning that you were hunting here." After saying this, he carried little William and praised William for his strong physique.

After a while, Old Hans appeared in front of them, and Henry said with a smile:

"Hans, you don't need exercise now that you're not fighting. You came a while ago."

"Your Highness, please let me arrange my morning affairs. I have already arranged today's affairs for tomorrow. Let me accompany you on a good hunt today," Hans replied breathlessly.

Henry laughed out loud when he heard this. "Okay, it's a rare opportunity for me to meet you, so I'll have a good competition with you." Then he put William on the ground and said to William:

"William, look carefully at how I beat old Hans to a pulp." After saying that, he laughed, mounted his horse, and galloped into the depths of the forest with his knights.
