Chereads / Trapped in my Worst Novel / Chapter 11 - Auction [2]

Chapter 11 - Auction [2]

The auction kept going on as the young man revealed more and more items.

The items seemed genuinely interesting to me as i noticed that the more people left early, the better the items seemed to be.

I was glad that i had an odd habit of staying until the end as i got more and more interested in the items presented, and only the people who bided the most out of everyone stayed until the end.

Now this is good entertainment since i didn't pay a single cent, i could entertain myself by watching the others get angry towards each other for whoever will get the wanted items first.

It's not like anyone could judge me anyways.

"Now, for our next item, we have a grade 6 skill book named "Glitching Walls", this skill will allow the user to pass through walls, leaving a glitched effect on the wall for a split second."

Almost immediately, the few people left were already starting to bet on this item.

"Number 11 is biding for 50,000....Now Number 36 is doubling it to 100,000...NUMBER 33 IS GOING FOR 200,000..."

The auctioneer was getting louder just to get everyones excitement back up, which was successful based on what i noticed.

"NUMBER 36 IS NOW GOING FOR 2 MILLION!!...GOING ONCE.."

Everyone looked surprised at the suddenly high price as even i doubted that they all had that amount of money.

"GOING TWICE....AND...SOLD!!!!"

Everyone clapped again, though now i was wondering who number 36 even is.

There's no way they could actually have that much money.

...But it's not my problem, i am not risking getting myself into danger all because i was curious.

"Now...Our next item is a grade 5 skill book named "Amplifier Bladed Weapon", this skill is permanently activated and it will allow the user to be better at using any bladed weapon, this includes swords, knives, axes, and many others!"

I was surprised at how broken this skill book seems to be, but as i looked around, no one seems to be interested.

I remembered a few important characters using swords or edged weapons, so i wondered why no one was bidding yet.

'S, i'm just going to say this before you ask any questions since i know just how stupid you are, but edged weapon users aren't exactly..common. The only people who use those types of weapons are those that are soldiers, or real sword-masters because of how many flaws a sword or any sharp-edged weapon had...'

'..Wait huh? What do you mean?'

Although i didn't remember much about my novel because of how long it's been since i wrote it, i'm pretty sure i wrote a few characters that actually used swords.

And also the fact that most other isekai stories always has the main character use some sort of bladed weapon...I couldn't remember why this story made knives so rarely used.

'...Damn you really are stupid- Bladed weapons aren't exactly easy to master, heck, it takes years to even comprehend the bases, how long do you think it would take for someone to completely master it?'

My eyes twitched slightly at her slight insult, but seeing as no one seemed interested, i wanted to try getting it.

'How much money do we have?'

'We have..like...20 Dirham left.'

Perfect.

I took out my tablet and immediately bid 5 Dirham before the auctioneer could change to the next item.

"Uh- Number 15 just bid 5...Going once.."

No one answered, they just looked at each other as if they were confused on who would use a bladed weapon in this world.

"Going twice....SOLD!!"

They all clapped awkwardly as i managed to save some of my money.

'What do the people here use as weapons then?'

'Hm..They mainly use staffs or bows as those are easier to master around here, staffs especially since we have a better control of mana so mastering using a staff is basically the same as mastering mana.'

..How the fuck is a bow easier to master than a sword? It makes no sense at all.

Sigh...

At least i saved my money, so i have 15 Dirham left.

"This will soon be the end of the auction, so please wait patiently as we prepare more of our best items!!"

I already got a new skill that would be pretty useful to me so i doubt that the last few items would be good enough.

"For our next item, we have an artifact that will create an invisible noise-canceling bubble around the user, allowing the user to communicate with anyone without having other people be able to hear what's being said inside of this bubble."

Almost immediately, i noticed many others taking out their tablets to bid on the item.

"Number 11 for 1 million..Number 36 for 2,5 million..Number 33 is biding 5 million..NUMBER 36 IS GOING FOR 10 MILLION, will someone make a comeback??"

I was honestly shocked at why everyone was betting the most on useless artifacts.

Oh yeah..I forgot.

I'm the one who wrote them like this.

Geez how stupid was i back then?? Why did i write the system to be like this?

I was silently dying in second hand embarrassment as i thought back at the dumb system i made back then in an effort to be "original" even though it simply made so actual sense.

If only i could change the past, i wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.

"Going once...Going twice....SOLD!!!!"

The familiar clapping continued again as i yawned quietly.

'This is pretty boring, i bet i could get any useful lethal skills with ease without worrying about whether someone would beat me or not.'

"We will now present another skill book, this is a grade 2 skill book called "Otherworld Understander", this skill will allow the user to understand any language no matter what language it is."

'Hey Sora, why are there so many skills?'

I already knew the answer but you could never be too sure, especially because of how long it has been since i finished writing that absolutely awful novel.

It was inevitable that i would eventually start forgetting some parts of the novel, i did try to forget about it for years after finishing it.

'Well, any skill grade 3 or under are pretty common as they aren't really good combat wise, but can still be somewhat useful. All skill books between grade 4 and grade 6 are uncommon but not unheard of..Then any skills above grade 6 is extremely rare, in fact, it's almost impossible to get.'

..Okay so i just have a rare skill that i got without too much issues...Did i really make the system like this?

At least i made skills slightly more common depending on what grade it was, that's pretty useful-

'By the way S...How did you get a grade 7 skill anyways?'

I suddenly heard Soraya's soft voice ask me a question and i froze.

I forgot that i had "Weapon Transformer" and didn't try hiding it, especially since i got that skill when they were both asleep so they didn't know how i even got it.

'Uhh....Is it that easy to see what grade each skill is?'

'I-I don't-'

'Yes it is. It absolutely is, and it's also possible to steal others skills if you kill them so you better hope you don't use that skill in public.'

Sora immediately interrupted Soraya as she gave me another piece of information.

...Wait we can steal others skills by killing them?? Isn't that just looting?

Thankfully no one could see the surprised look on my face as i still had the mask on.

A few seconds later, i realized that i zoned out as i noticed the auctioneer showing off the next item, and the other participants trying to get the preferred item the fastest.

I really needed to stop zoning out at random times, why did my old habits come with me to this new world?

I did get stronger than in my past life though, and looked healthier too, so i can't complain much.

As i glanced at each item, i thought they would be better but none of the items mentioned weren't interesting to me at all.

I felt a bit bored but still felt compelled to stay until the end as i didn't want to miss something that could possibly be interesting.

"-ext, we have-"

I could feel myself zoning out again on accident.

I hate this habit i have for no reason, i forced myself to listen to what the auctioneer said.

"-grade 2 skill book called "Bladed understanding", this skill will allow the user to easily identify what grade each edged weapon is with a single glance, allowing the user to not be scammed by anything."

That..seems quite interesting if i had to be honest.

But i decided to first see if anyone else was going to bid on this skill so i could easily get it without any issues.

Sadly, i heard the auctioneers words and felt disappointed.

"Number 36 just bid 1 million...Going once..."

'I barely have any money i can't go up against whoever they are.'

"Going twice....SOLD!!!!"

I sighed in annoyance as "Number 36" stole a good skill from me.

Whatever...It's not like we would meet again or anything like that so theres no use getting annoyed by that.

And also the fact i already have "Weapon Transformer" so its not like this skill is going to be necessarily important to me as i had a better version of that skill.

"Well, the auction is officially over!! Please come here to get your wanted item"

Lets go! I actually got something out of this.

I quickly followed the others who bid on quite a lot of items so i could finally get "Amplifier Bladed Weapon", a skill that would genuinely be useful to me as it was permanently activated once the user owns the skill.

"Number 36? Here are all the items you bid on."

The auctioneer kept going through everyone, as i was the last person to arrive.

"Number 11.....Number 66....Number-"

He was basically repeating the same thing so i didn't bother listening to him.

Finally, it was my turn.

"Number 15, here is the item you bid on, have a nice day!"

I simply nodded as i took the skill book with me, i didn't want to risk getting a headache caused by learning the skill immediately so i quickly left without saying a word.

I decided to just head back home, i put back the cloak and mask in the basket in the exit as i walked back home.

'...You really did zone out for quite some time- Do you have any like...mental illnesses?'

I felt insulted at the fact Sora straight up asked if i was mentally ill.

'Uh..No? I'm perfectly fine.'

Rolling my eyes, i quickly walked back home.

I noticed the sky getting darker so i didn't want to risk anything and also i was feeling a bit tired from boredom.

I felt something watching me but i shrugged it off as paranoia from dying and waking up in an unfamiliar area, a place i wrote myself.

A few minutes later, i finally managed to get back home without either of the two small souls saying a word.

I was feeling pretty tired but i opened the door and quickly locked the door behind me.

I went upstairs towards my room to change back into my pyjamas before quickly falling asleep.

I layed on my bed, under the covers of my comfortable bed as i finally closed my eyes to sleep.

Today was...a pretty boring day, but at least i got something out of it-

Oh yeah i forgot to learn the skill.

I quickly took out the skill book lazily from my desk, which was next to my bed, and opened a random page.

Again, a huge mountain of information entered my brain automatically, giving me a pretty bad headache but since i was going to sleep soon anyways, i wouldn't be that bothered by the pain and discomfort.

After successfully learning the skill, i slowly closed my eyes.

I soon fell into a deep, deep sleep.
