Chapter 34 - verdant fire seed

Once in the range of the verdant fire seed and its guardian Alex began to use [Earth blessing]. Since it was made Alex had made few changes as he gained more knowlage. From just a 'basic' gardening skill to a full blown high level technique. It used his [blessed by the earth] trait as a 'bridge' to communicate to plants. He would learn what that plant wanted, and use the 'bridge' to give it. Almost all plants wanted either water, sun, shade, or nutrition. All easily given. Just move the plant, water it, or give it a tiny bit of biomass, which he was still storing even now.

Very rarely it would ask for something like qi, to be harvested, or to be planted in a specific place. Thise where usually from plant that were about to gain spirituality or were special in some way. As plants under nascent soul didn't have any form of higher intelligence the 'requests' he got were in the form of a 'feeling' he would get from the plant.

Once near the tree he 'connected' to it through its trunk, the roots, branches and leaves were 'soft spots' for most plants, he had learnt to stay away from them. Once connected he sent the general message of trading for the seed. To which he got the feeling of a very large amout of nutrients and qi, regrowing something, and harvesting. Basicly saying 'I need lots of qi and nutrients to form a new seed, which you can take instead'. Alex agreed to this trade and began to poor qi and biomass into a offerd root for it to take.

With his energy capacity and stored biomass would take days to drain him, so he wasen't woried.

After several hours, three strands worth of qi, and 3 months worth of biomass, a tiny growth began to form next to the original seed, growing into a second verdant fire seed. This one was dimmer and smaller them the first seed, but was still a seed nonetheless. Walking up to the seed, Alex took a special box out from his inventory, given by the sect for the quest, to stop the seed. Once the seed was in the box he put it back in his inventory. He had since expanded it from the originally 100m³ to to around 150m³.

Out of curiosity of having a seed for himself Alex offerd the trade again, offering 5 times the resources. That's 15, 10 meter long, 1 meter wide strands of qi at 6400x standard purity, and 1 year 3 months worth of highly purified biomass. Obviously the tree took the deal. And another 5 hours later the tree had formed a third seed. This one much larger and brighter then the previous seed, and a decent bit more then the original seed. Which had also grown after the two trades.

Taking the new seed and storing it directly in his inventory Alex decided to give a gift of appreciation to the tree, and made a simple circle of attraction for wood and fire qi, along side a concealment circle to hide the first circle, and lower the presence of the fire seed. These circles were naturally self sustaining and had a minor repair feature in-built, so they should last quite a while. Saying good bye to the tree Alex headed back out of the forest and towards where the tournament would be held.

...

Another week on the road and alex was talking with nuwa as he travels towards east gate city, where the tournament would be held. 'I've been thinking about getting into alchemy. I have a furnace, I have the talent, and it would be fun to see how overpowered I could make pills and elixirs. But I don't have a stable source of herbs, sure the sect has some gardens, but they only go up to grade 3 at the most. And those are super expensive. So I've been thinking, what if I grew my own? I have over 30,000 points by now, and a garden system skill or a system of its own shouldn't be two bad. What do you think?'

Nuwa tilted her head to the side as she thought, 'a simple system skill seems to lowly for your own herb garden, and 30,000 points should alow you to make an at least adequate system. It isn't some unequal system like the sign in one, which seems unfair in giving you rare and valuable resources seemingly for free. So it should be cheaper.'

'I though so to, it's settled then, new system for me.' Alex stoped running and sat down as he planed out how his new system would work. The idea of just hopeing some random herb he found would be good enough to grow more of for his alchemy didn't sound to appealing for him, so he decided to take a page out of his old worlds book and do some good old selective breeding. Or atleast add a function that would make that much easer, alowing him to chose which plants to grow more of, what parts to focus on enhancing or reducing, and a cross-breeding section. Due to his lack of points this would just be the ground work for now.

In the future he wanted to raise beast's to, not like nuwa. She was special, his beats taming skill was exclusive to her at this point, and he planed to make that official in the future. Back on topic, along with the selective breeding part, he was also going to make it so the system had a space of its own to grow plants, similar to his inventory, but with multiple separate spaces for each plant instead of one large place. He planed to make large fields for tests in the future, but that woukd be very expensive and he didn't have the points.

With his plans made, and smooted out with nuwas help, he asked the system to do its thing. 'System, could you please create a sub-system designed to grow herbs, with eugenics, seprate spaces for herbs, accelerated time, and a simple user interface?'

[Creating sub-system [herb garden]. points used: 'all of them'. Creating sub space's... forming gardens... creating artifical world laws, insufficient points, linking world laws to host to lower cost, done... accelerating time... creating interface... exchange effected, price unstable, points insufficient, time ecceleration deemed unnecessary, removing... cost lowered, points sufficient. Completing system... done. Sub-system [herb garden: tier 1] has been linked.]

[Herb garden

Herb gardens: 0/5

Herb species: N/A

Ongoing projects: 0/2

Qi levels: 200%

World laws: standard]

Seeing the result alex sighed "Ah damn, should have expected something like this sooner to be honest. It's been real easy for a while. Oh well, not to bad. 5 slots for plants, 2 possable projects at once and twice the standard qi levels. Not bad."

Wondering what alex was talking about, as even though alex had explained the system to nuwa, she couldn't see it herself she asked 'what happend?' Scraching her under her chin, something he had learnt she liked, Alex said "nothing to bad. It's just the exchange went a bit wrong, for now there's now growth ecceleration. Everything else is fine though. How about we plant the first seed?"
